Statics - Shear and Moment in Beams
Here's an easy-to-understand explanation of how to calculate shear and moment in beams. I start with a simple free body diagram and explain the designer's sign convention, also called the beam sign convention.

Dear professor, I just stumbled upon your vedio on moments of area, now I discovered your channel. It's hard to resist not looking into your vedios. They all are very informative-dense, funny and very engaging. Thank you:)
As a structural engineer myself, the smiley face is an excellent way to remember the difference between positive and negative bending. If it is a good idea, then it is not stupid. Good video covering the fundamentals of statics.
