Bro, people like you who help us students deserve so much in life. Thank you so much
Great stuff. This clarified some stuff for me.
Why is the distance from x to the centroid is x/2 while the y value is only y? I drew a vertical rectangle and the centroid was in the middle too. So should it be y/2?. Please help me my final is tomorrow and our prof did alot of problems without explaining in a decent manner

it is because at any point given y would equal to 1/4x^2 and since Y(center) is at that point it is equal to y, i think not sure, hoped u aced ur final

I don't get it too, if anyone can explain it would be helpful.

Thank you Musa!
For the y part! Haven't they given us the value for y? So why didn't we substitute it in??
thanks a lot

Happy to help!
Instead of writing x in terms of y you can solve this with vertical dA.

You are right, there is always multiple ways of solving one problem :)

Feliz de poder ayudar!
for this kind of parabolic figure use x bar 3a/8 and for y bar 3b/5
how is the differential of Y^0.5 = 2y^0.5 is there an error

Hello my friend, in here I did not do the derivative of y^0.5. What I did is that I plugged the equation (1) X = 2Y^0.5 to: (2) X^~ = 1/2 X (3) dA = X*dY I hope this helps!
I am just curious but are you a university student studying or are you are lecturer? I noticed that the channel name was learning by teaching so are you pretending to teach the content so that you know the content better yourself. If so that is quite a good study technique.

I was a university student. Just graduated this past summer. But the main idea of the channel was as you explained. For some higher level classes in engineering you need to review these topics and I liked doing these exercises on my own. At that point I decided why not make videos out of them to help people out while I was studying.
If you use 4y^1/2 you will get a different answer for x, if you use √4y you will get the same answer as 4y^1/2. I am confused already
1.5 speed 👌👌
Integrate( xdy) / dx from 0 to 4 = x bar Integrate ( y dx ) / dy from 0 to 4 = y bar Then we had ( 1/2 x ^2 ) ln x | 4 to 0 ( 1/2 y^ 2 ) ln y | 4 to 0 So x bar = 8 ln (4) = 11.090 And y bar = 8 ln (4) = 11.090
Nice explanation but it really isn't that easy
sir I got x=3m, not 1.5m are u sure it's 1.5 u forgot to multiply by 2 I guess

we miscalculated the bottom part integral of dA should be 2/3* (2*4^3/2)
