State of the State of the Pin Kit SFIC Edition

In this video we are going to basically restock my main SFIC rekeying kit, but along the way we can chat about the different kits you might run across, some tools used for refilling and sorting kits and of course the obligatory siren.
Join in while I tend to one of the more mundane (boring, mind numbing, etc) tasks of our jobs

So many kits! So you have a backup for your backup for your backup for you backup 😜 Seems like very tedious work, but I guess makes day to day locksmith life much better.

#4 master pin is the pain as it always turns sideways -- I use a "pin sucker" that is a small battery powered vacuum made to pick up and place tiny electronic chips -- works fast & helps if you are pinning a lot of cylinders. I don't used colored pins either, but I can see how it can really help if your pin kit gets mixed up (careful not to do that). Small measuring spoons also a great idea.

The Best A2 class I took at Banner provided Best woodies. Someone asked if the kit came with the coarse. 😂 We did get to keep the pinning mats. I have a Falcon kit myself. Thanks, Jason!

I work at a university. We only do Best A4. If you need extra "pokers ", a 1/16" pin punch works great. Great video, Jason!

Great video, lots a little parts, and if you get too many old or mixed up one's i can always sort them use them. The only real lab kit i have is one from Foley Belsaw (.05) and most of the short key pins are out so I'm always customizing other pins. Could even cover shipping if i need to. have a great day

Great video as always Jason. I hate the colorless nickel silver bottom pins for exactly the reason you mentioned. Maybe you should stock just the right size of measuring spoons (round and square) on the Lockforce store, along with the hobby trays 😄 I agree with the pointy tweezers, no way I’d want to try to pick up or drop a cap with one of those “pinning tweezers”. I’ve never successfully capped with those multi-cap (6 or 7 at once) tools, always assumed it was because wherever you strike with the hammer will get more force but the other spots get less, so uneven is bad. Had to go back to single caps/strikes at a time. Still mediocre results but at least consistently mediocre 🤣 Thanks again 🙏

I love my sparrows tweezers, but when I'm doing SFIC, im usually just using my fingers. Mind you, I don't do a ton of locks. Plus, I don't have a woodie.

My Best A4 kit stays fully stocked! A4 isa pain to get supplies though since A2 is the most popular so suppliers assume that automatically.

We use exclusively Best SFIC where I work and of course we get our pins from Best which means all the bottom (A) pics are the same color and the top pins (B) are the same color, and that really sucks if you drop or mix up your pins. And yes pin #4 is the worst to deal with!
