The number one rule of a fire department should be the inspection of their equipments in order to ensure the functionality and subsequent maintenance if necessary. Also, regular drills should be carried out. Taking these actions seriously would avoid delays and loss of property and lives. Thanks for sharing Mr. Chance.

Hi Kenton good afternoon. I was looking at the video with the house on fire at kingstown park. What a shame 😢. Looking at that alone makes me not wanting to ever come back to live in SVG anymore. I just can't believe what my eyes a looking at. I can't even explain how much that hurts me. It looks like from bad to worst. So shameful . Any how to God be the glory. Bless up .

If you are in St Vincent and your house is on fire don't dial 911 out the fire yourself these are the slowest fireman I have ever seen 💨🔥👎🏿

Are you serious. I am ashamed of my country of birth. This is ridiculous. The house will be burned to the ground before they get their stuff working. Periodically testing of equipments and always having a sense of readiness is important for a fire department to work properly. I am nauseated just looking at this. I want to laugh...but it only makes me sad.

There are so many "infrastructure" systems I fear SVG has just not prioritized over the years with it's ongoing development. A functioning fire department, as evidenced here, seems to be one of the big ones. At a minimum, having dedicated fire house connection points on the domestic water lines in neighborhoods that CWSA maintains should be a code requirement for the government. As opposed to the "on the fly" approach we witnessed in this video. Now that international tourism is being heavily promoted, the SVG ministry needs to start thinking like a real, fully functioning government.

This is happening in 2024, eh!!

From a UK perspective, and someone that knows many firefighters here. At 6 mins, that still cutter has had it. As for "choke it", if it don't start, it's flooded, and you need no choke to clear it. Should not be using a petrol cutter these days, too heavy and needs expensive upkeep. There are great battery ones, or hydraulic run off the truck. In the UK, the fire service spends time when not on a call driving round testing hydrants. If faulty, it is the water companies job to fix, and they have too. The water pressure they have to work with here is hopeless, but not their fault. I have seen that big US fire truck in Kingstown, looks great, ideal for long straight flat roads - that's not SVG! Even the smaller appliances in Europe would struggle on the island. SVG is going to be difficult with the hills and bends. There is not an easy answer, maybe many more smaller trucks? Clearly better training. A good start would be to have an exchange of ideas, send SVG fire service guys to UK/Europe to look at training. And have experts from here go to SVG and see your unique issues.

I hope the homeowners never see this video. It would break their heart even more than the loss of the home and possessions to see this incompetence. Even if neighbors wanted to help to out the fire with a garden hose they couldn't because the water was cut off to make a connection for the fire hose. I pray the home owners had fire insurance.

boss mr gunslave wont it be a good idea to put a fire hose connection on every house with a cap so access to water is easier this is not good😢

What exactly are they doing in the street whilst the building is burning. I don't see anyone actually trying to put the fire out.

12:07 nooo the cwsa guy taking a video then gives that thumbs up 🤣, that being said I have never seen a fire in this country being dealt with properly or efficiently True story this was about 8 years ago, I was out late one night and in town, and Monica's Supermarket in upper Kingstown caught fire, me and my friends went to get a closer look, and it was blazing for a while before the fire brigade got there, and when did they show up, they were confused as to how to get the hydrant open, only for after 5 or so minutes someone pointing out they don't have the key to open it. they left without it. Another fire story, you remember the center behind St.Mary's when that caught on fire, we drove there to see closer because we were in town one night again, and just the sheer lack of preparedness was astonishing, not enough water in the truck, wondering if they could use water from the river, contemplating using a hydrant all while the building is burning. It's like the fire fighters, when they got there were surprised to see a fire, is best I could describe it

In a place where we have an abundance of water, we do not have a fire hydrant system, which is absolutely ridiculous.

I guess no one is getting paid for this ,the owner would have done better if they had an outside water hose at the house. Why isn’t a fire hydrant every do men feet to get the hose hooked up to, this is a joke.
