@@canadianguy1090 cattle apparently do well with sheep. goats are all around more of a pain and will cause minor issues but im sure itd work if you reeally wanted to

How often do you check for parasites with your rotational grazing.

perfect. We are beginners along with neighbors, a chunk of about 7 acres all told. 2 goats, 13 ewes, 2 rams, 1 lamb. They kid and lamb twice a year. Neighbors are just now putting up a barn yikes but we've plenty of room to move them around from paddock to paddock. How much acreage do you have and how many sheep per acre?

Regarding their pasture mix, what was the "siser milk fetch"?

I live within City Limits and I have way too much property. I love your idea of raising sheep and love to have sheep live on my land. I know a lot of what is growing on my property is rich and nutritious. Also it would eliminate the need to mow grass. That looks too nutritious to just destroy what's a lawn mower

Should mix in some pot plants .

personally i think allowing the sheep access to some woodlands in addition to pasture fields would be ideal, if you have some available. Long considered off-limits for most farm animals but in the wild of course they wouldn't only be in farms, and they'll have access to other types of plant matter, tree nuts, hell even meat if they wanted in the form of easily grabbed insects

Keep the animals moving and give the land time to recover. That is the single best thing you can do for the pasture.

in my very brief beginner level stuff i've read so far, which is just a few chapters, i've heard the term "carcass value" so i would venture a guess that they slaughter the lambs on the farm and then have them picked up/shipped in a refrigerated truck as whole carcasses EDIT: saw the end of the video where they're selling their own meat. I don't know then either, if they sell to local butchers or what they do

Sandi Brock (channel) in Ontario gets them to 105 lbs and drops them off at the butcher's.

Hi I hope someone could help me understand this. I recently discovered sheep milk and it’s so delicious but I don’t understand why half a gallon cost 25 dollars and another farmer near this farmer charges 19 what’s the difference and why is it so expensive? Can someone please explain thank you

Jenn Mich because unlike cows milk u dont get as much milk and theres less ppl sheeping milking so its hard to get on the market so its more costly

sheep milk is the best for yoghourt...

first thing i would do is Top that field , very little feed value in that long overgrown stuff and nothing wrong with feeding some grains with hay in the winter time ,

He never said there was anything wrong with grain. He just chooses to use full solar power for his operation. Nothing wrong with that.

@@johnstoyles5005 i understand that part , but there more ways to market their produce , Ie , locally produced , family reared Etc Etc , a little grain goes a long way especially when sheep or beef are nearing slaughter time , better weight gain and more meat per carcass ,

@@jimosullivan4866 You can market any way you want. BUT when you feed grain you can't advertise GRASS FEED LAMB. Nothing wrong with Grain, you just have to be honest with your customer.

That can vary depending where you buy it and how old it is and if it's had any prior training. Here in Alabama Pyrenees are a very prolific dog and you can get them as a puppy from a breeder for ~$100 but then you can get them free on Craigslist as well if you look. My first Pyrenees was free and after working with him a little he instinctually knew what to do and was is a very good guardian, then got a puppy and let her learn from him

It depends. Basically what kind of threat does the flock have? You want to keep your response to threats to the lowest working levels, in other words you don’t need a sledgehammer to kill a fly. What do you want your Guardians to do? Some Guardians will not leave the flock while others will rundown the threat and kill it. Great Pyrenees are very good about staying with the flock and barking like crazy and will fight if needed, Kangal and Boerboel are willing to fight any threat but are really pricey. All three are huge and easily consume a chicken a day. The last two can easily attack and kill a full grown man with little trouble. Kangals routinely take on Wolves and kill them, as long as their necks are protected with spiked collars. There are also other Guardians that work but won’t eat the kid next door. Donkeys and Lamas work well for threats like dogs and sometimes people. Hope that helps.
