Starting a newsletter: Substack vs Revue

Ғылым және технология

So, you want to start your own newsletter. But what service should you use to make it? Two popular choices for editorial newsletters are Substack and Revue. These are both very different from marketing-focused platforms like Mailchimp.
In this video, Martin SFP Bryant compares the features and benefits of using Substack and Revue. If you want to share news and opinions, journalism or curation, these platforms are well suited to your needs. But they each have different focuses: Substack is courting independent writers wanting to build a business from their content, whereas Revue is well suited to curation, and has some big-name publishers as customers.
They both work well if you're starting out with a new newsletter, but which one is right for you?

    Not as far as I'm aware. That's more like a feature you'd find in a marketing email suite, than an editorial email software feature.

    As far as I know Substack does offer you access to email addresses of your subscribers; however, subscribers also have an option to hide email address. If they choose to hide it, you don't have access to it.

    Hey I really liked your video but the problem with Substack is that all my newsletters are landing up in the promotion tab in gmail.. Any solution for this?

  • @bigrevolution6908

    @bigrevolution6908

    2 жыл бұрын

    If it's the newsletters you're sending that are ending up in your subscribers' promotion tab, the main solution is to encourage them to move it into the main inbox tab until Gmail learns that's where they want it. If you can switch the emails to come from your own domain rather than Substack's that might help too, but as with Google's search algorithm, Gmail's sorting seems to get tweaked a lot.

    Once it’s published, it’ll be visible on a web page from your Revue profile page, but because it’s a newsletter, you need at least one email address on your subscriber list. You can link to the issue’s web page on social media etc to promote the newsletter once it’s published.

Audience 2 should receive email 2. And so on... (An audience is a group of subscribers here) And this has to be done on both ends, the place which has a form where people can subscribe and my dashboard where I can send emails. Note: All audiences are paid so I need a payment page as well for all sections. Can we get this done with Sections or is there any other way I can achieve this?
