You've been a big influence in how I draw in my sketchbook. I use a lot of markers for my smaller one and sometimes add highlights with acrylic paint. In my larger books I use watercolors, gouache and ink. I love your sketchbook videos and listening to you chat because I often draw along too.

It looks so easy when you do it, so effortlessly flawless and real the minor imperfections make this sooo perfect and beautiful.

This is one of my favorite sketchbook spreads! The cat and the first chicken are definitely my faves.

Your chickens are so pretty!! I love the vibrant colors! I just started using the Beta sketchbook (I believe it's the 5x7, very smol :3) and it takes water based markers super well!

My favorite is a tie between the purple cat with the fish, and the broody chicken with the chick. It's just got such pretty feathers.

you make all these sketches look so easy and they...ARRRREEENNNTT. 100% appreciation for all the work you've but in to make these "doodles" look effortlessly adorable and incredible. You PROVE this level of skill is attainable if you put in the work and you are so encouraging for me to just keep sketching, keep doing studies, keep buying art supplies (LOL maybe not that last one)

I adore those doves! I love their faces! I've been painting with my watercolours a lot recently, though mostly in sketchbooks - I really want to do a 'finished' painting on paper soon. Love to see what you'd do with watercolour!

I like your presentation and explaining why/ how you use certain media. Cat with fish is my fav. Also being left-handed is a plus! 😊

Mourning doves are so derpy and cute. I love doves. We have so many where I live. I constantly see mourning doves by my house and 5 minutes down the road at my job, we have a bunch of diamond doves!! My husband and I always get so excited when we’re in the parking lot at work and see the little diamond doves flitting around and catching bugs in the dirt.

Am I the only one who finds squarespace harder to use than wix? 🤔 I may try to use squarespace at some point...again..in the future. Loved the sketchbook spread! 😊

If you like Mourning Doves you should check out Inca Doves! They are tiny little babies and last year while watching them in my yard I realized something. They look like little pinecones!

Thanks for the tip!! Also, Jel mentions in this video that they don't know if mourning doves are intelligent or not.. they are members of the Columbidae family of birds along with other doves and pigeons and are among some of the most intelligent species on the planet, even believed to pass the "mirror test" and be able to recognise themelves in the mirror... (tho, my young pigeon seems to not quite grasp the concept of mirrors yet...) Doves and Rock doves (AKA pigeons) have been domesticated by humans for thousands of years and used as messengers, racing birds (mourning doves may act slow, but can fly quite fast), loyal, loving pets, and more. Amazing birds, and amazing sketches!! 😊🫶🤘🪶

The first Chicken you made is very nice. As for my journey with SKETCHBOOKS I'm planning to get into painting. Excited to draw some beautiful scenes and lovely characters.

Really enjoyed watching this video. I have a large Ello sketchbook and use various markers, colored pencils and ink in. I use a strathmore watercolor journal I use mostly for urban sketching.

i recently started a midori md and i've been *loving* it, water based pens layer so nicely and you have to actively try to damage the paper to get any pilling with them, alcohol markers blend really pretty on it too, and ive recently started using fountain pens and dip pens to draw, which has been so fun! its been a while since i've watched one of your videos, i enjoy them so much that i put them off until i can pay the "right" amount of attention to it or until i can be drawing alongside but.. i really need to stop doing that.

Beautiful pictures ❤ I love the chickens. I have many different sketchbooks but I mainly make my own out of Saunders Waterford watercolour paper. I use watercolours gouache and also other things like neocolour 2 crayons and pencils.

I feel the other way around, I've been playing with watercolors but I'm itching to get some markers lolll what a lovely first page!! And I was thinking, if the cat got the fish from a market I guess it's alright but if it was caught directly from nature then nooooo bc cats are responsible of a lot of wild animal extinctions

I recently got myself the 36 Polychromos set, this is my first set of professional color pencils. They are wonderful, although a bit uncomfortable to hold since I press on paper a bit too hard. Now I'm waiting for a chance to make a big artwork with them.

I love the chickens. 😊 Faber Castell Polychromos are my favourite pencils. The thing I like most about that brand is you can get most of the colours across all medoums, like for example 'India Red' is number 192 and it will be the same in their Pitt Artist pens, Albrecht Dürer watercolour pencils etc so that's perfect for mixed media projects. 😊 I love the cat with the fish in its mouth. 😂❤ I've got several sketchbooks on the go as usual. 🙃 At the minute I'm mainly trying to establish a habit of scrap/graphic journalling. 😊

They really are so nice, I gotta get more... I want them all

so if you buy the waterbrushes you can fill those with ink+water. I usually premix a few colors that look good together like a limited palette look,. and then i doodle in my sketchbook with those. I always feel i dont have the exact color i want in a marker, so I really enjoy making my own colors, plus i can put sparkels in it.

Beautiful sketchbookpage! I use a Hahnemuhle sketchbook now, but it does not work well with wet media… So I bought a Strathmore mixed media sketchbook which I will be starting in soon :)

The stillman and birn sets of sketchbooks are sooo good, I really recommend the Epsilon series, if you like using dryer media such as markers, color pencils, and even some thicker medias like gouache/ some watercolor. I have the soft cover version and I really love it

It’s the middle of the night and your motivating me to draw in my sketchbook lol 🤭

i ordered a sketchbook from amazon and its like rlly nice. but the pages seem thick and smooth kind of like that stone sketchbook if you know wnhat im talking about. but i havent tested it out yet cause while i was traveling with my bf i got this cheaper sketchbook at tigers thats just black cover and thats it. i put stickers of cats and flowers on the cover :D the pages arent the thickest but somehow its the msot perfect sketchbook ive ever had??? its just so nice and feels familiar since my previous ws also this one. im using this sketchbook to let myself be more free with drawings and learn more stuff so that when i use the one from amazon i have an actual idea of what im doing i only use pencils and markers and pens but i want to try out watercolor aswell... gouache i use in art school cuz we only get oil paints next year but experimenting would be nice :)

I had recently purchased a Stillman & Birn sketchbook myself, but it was the tri-color mixed media Nova series sketchbook. Thought I should play with toned paper at some point :D

Love all your stickers. 😃 I LOVE stickers. 😄👍 I Love all the drawings you did in this video. so sweet. 🥰 yeah, there's definitely a lot of Pros and Cons for both Digital and traditional art. Where one shines the other fails and visa versa. But Digital art is Definitely "real" art. I LOVE my water brushes!!!! I'd be lost without them now. I love mixed media art journaling.... (my current favourite mix is a water soluble medium (watercolour markers or pencils, or Neo Colour crayons), Coloured Pencils, regular black pen, regular pencil, and a Sakura Gelli Roll pen, in white...., and SOMetimes Sharpie markers...... (but I use lots of other things, too, sometimes. (acrylic paint, watercolour paint, paper piecing, etc....)

Thank you for getting me to try the ohuhu water based markers! I like them ^^

I love how this page turned out! I think my favourite might be the chicken mama and her baby - it looks super cute! On a side note: I just recently started a new sketchbook too! It’s a Royal Talens Art Creation sketchbook and… it’s okay. I like using wet media in my sketchbooks - particularly watercolour and gouache - and the paper for that is a little too thin for my liking (one time I did like a pretty gouache heavy spread and it started buckling everywhere) but this means I get to practice more inks and coloured pencils. However, I still have a sketchbook back home that I know can withstand wet media so I’m hoping I can get back to my favourites when I return home from university during summer break.

It's the tombo fudenosuke brush pen! They tend to come in packs of two with one hard brush and one soft brush but I like em both

i started a new sketch book my mom got it from her work idk what its called

XD CHICKEN FIGURE

As a traditional artist I used to say digital is for lazy artists- which in my really honest opinion I still kind of think but just not in a negative way and depending on things. Why not use a more sufficient method? Why stress about something that you may not stress about digitally, like having the right color, having to bring the right supplies somewhere etc. Do I think digital art has more advantages? 100%, line correcting, coloring will always be smooth, copying the second eye in front view (🤭), being able to flip your canvas, adjust body parts without having to erase etc. so it is a lazier method, but it still requires skill and it is just as much art as traditional mediums. Also, please, I don’t hate digital art whatsoever nor do I look down on it. It’s useful in many ways, I use it sometimes to trace over a picture to figure out the basics when I struggle to do it on paper after a few tries. If i had the money, I would dig into digital art myself so I can just cozily sit on the couch to draw (another advantage). The only useless fake digital art is AI generated, sorry not sorry. I want to laugh at people that say they’re “AI artists” and just pay €2 a month to generate unlimited art.

The term "chicken figure" has just been burned into my vocabulary. 🐔
