After 10’years of not doing any art or sketches. Doing the college route and 9-5 life, I started to feel dull and bland. I’ve been urging to get back into art, slowly building up my sketchbooks. The graphite smudging is so true! Imma definitely need to check out those colored leads! Ty

Same! Whenever I'm bored, I think to myself that instead of feeling bored, I should be creating something.

I use the same sketchbooks and they are my favourites so far! I like the sizes, that they come in those fun colors, i actually like the color of the paper and they hold a lot of materials pretty well. Great sketchbooks for the price. Only thing I wish they had is one of those little pockets in the back, but I just glued one in and it works just fine. I really like your art, too, lovely portraits and really nice use of colors. The other sketchbook I’m currently using is from ohuhu and it has a pocket in the back as well as thicker and whiter pages. It’s much bigger but the price is also fairly affordable!

I have to say, alcohol markers will bleed through absolutely everything. Even the special paper for markers is only meant to be used on one side, its just how they are 😢 saying that talens sketchbooks (i have Sakura one, its basically the same but black, since Talens owns Sakura brand) are the best quality/price ratio i've ever found. I have some really fancy watercolor sketchbooks but i still use my sakura one for pencil, ink and even watercolor and gouache sometimes. It does buckle a bit but waaaaay less than other non-watercolor sketchbooks ive seen, and because its so cheap, i never feel guilty for experimenting. 😊

cork ,japanese motive ,milkmaid and flower cover have white paper , i personely wished they had a tanned or grey paper one

You should look for the royal Talens sketchbooks with the cork cover as these have white paper. Have one and I love it!

Aaah there is such? Because I rly dislike how yellow is the paper in these versions, i barely use mine because of this.

It's very well built, isn't it. I like how sturdy it feels in my hand. It's slightly too heavy though so i actually find that I prefer the 500 a bit more nowadays.

in this video you said that you really like these sketchbooks, but don't really like the yellow pages. i use these sketchbooks also a lot and i have one with the painting 'the milkmaid' on it, that one doesn't have yellow pages but white pages. so i think all the sketchbooks with paintings on the cover doesn't have the yellow pages. i am dutch, so i don't know if these ones are available everywhere, but you could look for them.

Thank you so much for the suggestion! I will be on the lookout for that. I have checked out other types of sketchbooks offered by this brand from my local art stores and haven’t came across one like you mentioned but I’ll keep an eye out online as they often carry more products!

My sketchbook go-to was the a5 moleskine (and I would honestly keep sticking with it because I know it's one I like) but they've recently doubled the price in the UK to £25 and I just can't justify that. I did buy a Talens sketchbook to try out since it looked similar and I only started it today but it's good to hear that it's a good brand! I was super worried It would be pretty poor (because they're so affordable) and I'd have to keep on the hunt for a new brand to stick with ^^'

Totally! I have a few moleskine sketchbooks as well. I actually did a comparison of their sketch pad with this sketchbook and I definitely prefer this one better. I’ve purchased at least 10 either for personal use or for others in my family. I have not came across any defects!

If you do a light wash of watercolor over pencil it can help to set the graphite in place. ❤

Great trick! I’m just too lazy most of the time to get out something else to “fix” the graphite situation in my sketchbook. I need to learn to take care of my drawing better.

I use the same sketchbooks, but there are a few with prints on the cover. There pages are more white then the others. I have one with the retroprint black/gold. B
