    Fast ft 17 would be a nightmare, just imagine it. You are a german tank crew in a panzer 4, all of a sudden 2 ww1 mini tanks come out of the bushes at 20 mph, they practicaly fly by you and next thing you know your tanks engine has been destroyed and you and your crew are so dumbfounded you dont even shoot back or call it in to command

    If a machine was maintained properly it will work for a very long time. Three weeks ago I was a passenger in a biplane which was commissioned in 1954, but the design came from 1928. It was mainly built from canvas and wood with no roof. They even told me where to step (there was a small square on the left lower wing)otherwise I would break or dent the wings. But the engine started like it's in the textbook and flew flawlessly.

    ohh FFSAKE .. stop with the old nostalgia things were better in the fucking old days .. we don't use starting handles any more .because fucking technology has moved on...Everything was simpler because it was so simple, but we have sort of progressed in the technology side.. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN TOUGH SHIT.. I suggest you go live in a cave. There are reasons we no long drive Model T's, Use Renault FT tanks , hand crank start ..CAN YOU THINK WHY ??.. Yes it is because we developed better ways of doing things ... ie ignition systems improved, Tanks improved etc etc..

    That' s because it wasn't.. does it look like it was meant to take on an Abrams or a Challenger???? It was meant to stop small arms or shrapnel , not much more.. but of course the anti tank tech was also rather primitive at the time of the FT.s introduction

  • @BobSmith-dk8nw

    @BobSmith-dk8nw

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@kittyhawk9707 Uh ... no Ian - it doesn't look anything like a modern MBT - but that said - it doesn't look like it was going to stop a lot of smaller caliber rounds either. I have fired a few armor piercing .30 cal rounds and ... they just might go through that. I expected it to be a little bit thicker than it was and I some what cringe at the idea that they sent men out to fight in things that flimsy. Though ... I really shouldn't be surprised ... the cloth the infantry was wearing wouldn't stop anything ... One thing people talking about these early tanks seem to forget - is that the Germans had plenty of light artillery - which was more than capable of blowing something like this to shit. If you look at all of those WWI armored offensives - they lost almost all of those tanks. The ones that didn't break down, got stuck or the Germans took them out. I don't know the percentages involved but the Allies expended a large number of the vehicles that started the assault. .
