Well done David, I've been shooting for years and use all of those things. Good way to get someone started in the sport for a reasonable amount of money!
I have been shooting trap and skeet for 55 years. I would think nothing about shooting 100 birds weekly but those days are gone. Ten years ago you could catch target load on sale at Bass Pro shops or Cabelas for $20 for 250 shells. Five years ago it was $50 for 250 shells. Today it is $110. I now shoot 50 birds twice a month. The saving grace is that all of my shotguns and associated clothing and accessories are sunk cost but the recurring cost of shells is killing the sport for the average shooter. I would start reloading again but components (primers) are expensive and hard to find.
old second hand Miroku very cheap will outlive you lol
Cartridges have gone through the roof in the past few years , a slab of 250 costs what we used to pay for 1000.. It's still great fun and yes you can set up on a budget , cartridge costs are hurting though.
Great Tips We All Had To Start Somewhere !! You forgot to mention the gun cabinet 👍👍

Great video David. I started shooting in January. Been having lessons and decided to go for one with David. Had an amazing time and walked away from the Oxford gun company with ear phones, glasses and having put a deposit down on a gun, only problem is they still have the gun as I’m still waiting for my certificate to be granted. As mentioned the cost on ongoing lessons is prohibitive and you feel like it’s costing a lot but your not progressing as much as you should be because you can’t get out and practice on your own.
If you could do a video on the skeet vests from budget to bougie that would be great
Another great video David. I have had a couple of have a go's and love it . Am looking for the next step in to the sport. Its quite expensive start from nothing ie licence lessons and buying the equipment.
I do everything on a budget escort semi auto 300 had mine 15 years great gun
Cracking video chaps.. 🙂
Came down to the oxford gun company for the shooting festival with my father 3rd time having a go, certainly not the last was on have ago 3 shot 24/25 then 22/25 on stand 2 .very welcoming environment will certainly be back very soon to get some more knowledge and to start a new sport
Plenty of Sunday shoots about. All enthusiasts keen to engage the newbie. Can't do much about cartridge prices but most are happy to share spare kit - including gun - and the advice is free. Typically £5.00 for 25 clays makes for a cheap morning out
Headphones 🎧 = Ear Defenders 😂 one day you might call them the correct name 😉
In Australia best bet is a second hand overunder or side by side, slab of winchester target shells and a box of clays can be had for undera grand
Thanks David, I started in January with a rough Lanber and had such a good time i decided to buy a used beretta silver pigeon 1. A friend of mine has been using the lanber and has just applied for his license. He wants to buy the lanber as he likes it and is shooting well with it 🙏

Just bought my lanber trap, looking forward to seeing how she shoots
Old lanber would be the way i would go they will still hold there own against modern guns all kit can be had reasonably affordably from skeet vests to every other essential bits of basic kit you could get all the clothing and protective equipment for under £150
I whent clay shooting at rocky creek my hang out they have a really hard course now i told you once before about my friends son who was 11 at the time he shoot in championship and come in 3 rd with a 95 i thought he was one of the best iv ever seen well this little 11old is beating him at 70 yds the clay leaves the trap at 70 mph it travels 4 feet and hes smoked it not one but a true pair he normally comes in second or wins iv never seen anything like it in my whole life its amazing
I took my grandson to a have a go session at a local ground, whole experience lasted 22 mins and cost £68. He shot one target only, a teal, this is not the way to encourage youngsters into shooting, he’s only 11, but thanks to my local club he’s found the help and encouragement he needs. As for the shooting school which is a Premiere ground, they were disgraceful

If you are on a tight budget, you cannot afford to shoot full stop. A 100 reg event will cost on average £80-£100, inc fee's, cartridges, fuel and food - A bit cheaper if you live close by. Even your local Sunday club shoot (50 bird) is going to cost around £25-£30 just to shoot it (Fee + cartridges)
Приятно смотреть Ваши ролики !!!!!!
Hi David don't forget to mention, licence and cost of Dr's letter .
I prefer clayclo to seeland, the quality is better, I have seeland one from when I started but the clayclo one is the best under £100
I think what’s putting a lot of of David is the time there waiting for a certificate I put in for mine in February with the met police heard nothing from them very frustrating but I won’t give up
I shoot and the honest truth is that clay shooting hasn't been cheap for several years now. Going once a fortnight to shoot 100 clays will set you back £130 - £150 a month. By the time you add fuel a couple of coffees and a couple of bacon butties it's the thick end of £200... just to go twice a month! Add to this the kit etc. and it ain't cheep. The only 'cheep' shooting to be had is on permissions where you are allowed to do a bit of rough walked up alongside some crop protection/ pest control etc. Shooting has never been a 'cheep' hobby... never has... never will be.

Are you folks getting SGCs issued in a timely fashion? In my area they are taking 2 years atm...
If the conversion is right ship me over a metric ton of y’all ammo because that is super cheap it’s like 12usd a box here
Compared to other forms of shooting it's cheap, just got my 6.5cr ammo down to £0.85p a round with home loading.
Obviously doesn’t include gun license fees / gun insurance / gun cabinet
Had my first lesson a couple of weeks ago, absolutely loved it, intend to pursue the sport and have more lessons booked, however the horror stories I am hearing with the wait times for a shotgun certificate in Avon & Somerset (+1 year) worries me that the cost of continued lessons for such a length of time will make it prohibitive when I can go down my local air rifle club and shoot for a tenner.

@@stevegale2289 Thanks for the info, was that A & S police? Applied last week on the advice of the shooting school, gun cabinet already fitted for the air rifles, keen to be able to support my application with ongoing lessons to show both the desire as I am keen to take up the sport and that I take safety seriously rather than just park it until grant of certificate. I've also found that you become familiar with your own kit in whatever sport you pursue and a long wait time hampers that progression, I've only got till 2024 to make the Olympic team 😄.

£6 a box of cartridges bargain? trouble with that is some shooting grounds insist you use their cartridges in which case more like £6.85+ and thats for 21gs?so unless this changes then people will pull away from the sport/hobby???

Wow. I’m a bog standard, hard working family man from Yorkshire. I manage to clay shoot, be on a pheasant syndicate and deer stalk. Mate, it’s not that expensive. Let’s be honest, £6.50 for a box of 12g cartridges is reasonable for a twice a month clay outing. £20 for a box of .243 that’ll put 20 deer in your freezer is CHEAP. Pheasant shooting costs more but I’d spend that same on a weekend with the lads so why not have a day out doing something fantastic in the field.

cant shoot on a budget...... can start relatively cheap, yearly cost is huge, and if you wanna involve your child ....get ready to re mortgage you're house..... its a real shame how the world has changed
Buying the gear is the cheap part, shooting clays is where the real cost is. With the average price of clays now anywhere between 30p & 40p each and cartridges at £240/1000 this isn't a sport that someone who can only afford to spend £500 on the kit to get started should even be considering. Shooting, unfortunately has always been said to be, a rich mans sport and never has that been more true than it is today. I'm sorry, but these are the facts. Yes you might be able to buy all the gear for £500 but what's the point in that if you can't actually afford to go out and shoot on a regular basis. The minimum cost that you're looking at to go and shoot 50 clays is £30 and that doesn't include the cost of getting too the ground. Making videos like this are pretty pointless really.
Shooting on a budget is what i do 5 pounds ear plugs no glases no hat no jackett trousers with big pocketts dont even have a gun bag open the action and a grocery bag to tote my shells and water that it 6 pounds in all most American shooters do this no pomp here
