Just got gifted this game as a present for Christmas. Now that I'm used to playing PGA 2k23 and am getting on reasonably well with it (with thanks to you for your tutorials) I thought maybe I could jump straight into this one. I couldn't have been more wrong and I've been really struggling so far. Basically I had no clue where to start and just immediately started on Quickplay. So, as with your 2k23 vids, I am absolutely delighted with this tutorial. So helpful, and I look forward to watching your other EA PGA tour tutorials. Much thanks for the time put into these tutorials, especially the behind the scene work we don't see! You mentioned our golfer being "81 overall" (Time stamp abt 9.21) and w/club specs becomes 88? Are you referring to 88% out of 100% for any club specs applied?

Thank you for the kind words Rick! Appreciate you! So the 81 overall is referring to your players overall skill rating. So like in other EA sports games each player has an overall 0-99 total skill overall. So in this game you have your base overall from skills which for me is 81 and then you have the boost from club specs (equipment boost) which increase my overall to 89 total. Just a number representing your players level of play.

The clubs aren't just cosmetic they do add stats as well. Now they might not be as much as a a legendary spec but they do help!

I think for the first time in the history of golf games I actually dread hitting sand traps and the rough. Lie actually matters in this game which is cool

Yea I agree I think it makes it more fun more challenging, you have to really focus like in real life. I also think more controllers are going to be thrown.

Really helpful thank you! However, it seems they changed the rewards from the Coaching Academy to loot boxes instead of XP now.

I'm still playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 (EA) (PSP). For years I've played at the top difficulty and regularly shoot in the low 50s. I'm obviously ready for a new game. I've got a PS5. I'm getting this game day after tomorrow. Hopefully some of my left thumb joystick muscle memory transfers to EA PGA 2023. I was going to wait until some high quality tutorial videos came up but you have shortened that wait almost completely. Good work!

Thanks for the great video Ryan. Do you know if the Quests only complete in order? For example: if you haven’t completed chapter 1 of the Pebble Beach quest, will it not count if you do the score 12 under with your created golfer? (which is in chapter 3 of that quest)

Thank you! So one thing you could do is actually slow down your swing tempo in the character customization which may help. I have noticed that it is a really quick flick of the stick for me to get a perfect.

My golfer defaults to "practice" swing whenever I start any mode of game.Cannot find a consistent way to get out of this.Saw on here that L5 controller key toggles this but using this seems hit and miss . Hugely frustrating and obviously making no progress in game. Any help would be really appreciated. PS5 and long term EA Sports PGA golf user way back to 2008.

Very well done and informative. The game really doesn’t tell you this stuff.

Just as far as gameplay and calender wise, does it matter if you're starting out on the amateur tour losing a bunch tournaments year after year vs say starting up in the tour and winning more early? Or is it just as long as you're playing you gradually progress all the same? I just started one and like to meep mine realistic but I am curious if it's going to make me develop slower if it takes me 4 seasons to win anything

I bought spierhs ball spec couple days ago...totally worth it

So try to get a legendary club spec with very high control like in the 80s or higher. Also make sure you put a lot of skill points into approach control, which will add more natural backspin. When you have higher control you can also add full loft to the shot in the pre shot setup which will add more backspin. Woods still roll out quite a bit, but this should help.

I have played the first round in the amateurs championship and cannot, for the life of me, move to the second round. how does one save any playtime on the XBox X mode of gameplay?

One thing ive really bewn struggling with is that my club speed is always too slow. Usually its like 1.7% to 2.1% slow. I have no clue how to press the analog stick any faster. I know not hitting perfect speed affects your shot a bit. Should i get one of those stupid analog stick extenders that clips to the top of the stick like the COD players use?

Just bought it for $41 yesterday on Series X at Gamestop yesterday. Weird thing was it was $45 used and $41 new, thought that didn't make much sense but made it a no brainer to buy it. Was kinda on the fence about buying it but my 10 hour trial expired before the first big update came out. Really wanted to see what all was fixed in the update. For $40 I figured it was a safe buy, plus I still had my $5 Gamestop power up reward for May.

Does the game save your course stats anywhere? Seems like you used to be able to see what your records were on each course on older games. I’m not seeing it so far.

For the tournaments, is there a way to tell what rewards bracket you are in? I’ve done a few and I think the rewards bugged out but impossible to tell since I have no idea where I finished

So it does not tell you your specific bracket you are in after playing until you get your reward pack. But you can see your spot on the leaderboard after the round and in the menus when you have the tournament selected.

Thank you @bd3598_!!! So I still need to play a little more to test, but I have found around 75-80% leads to very realistic AI scores. So I did an 80% difficulty Masters Tournament, and the winning score was 14 under which could be close to what the winner is this week. Now there are instances where the AI still plays insane on 80% so it does fluctuate. 70-75% is a great place to start though. Hope this helps!

The daily’s from yesterday seem to be glitched right now. I came in the winner percentile but still have not gotten any rewards. Maybe the servers are overloaded or something. Hopefully we get our rewards soon

I love this game for different reasons than I love PGA 2K. 2K is better for online play with your buddies bc of online societies and the course creator, but EA PGA has a muuuuuch better career mode and skill customization system.

Thanks for the video. I was interested in the game, but the fundamental design here seems majorly flawed. It's rich get richer. The people who are better at the game than me get better rewards, equipment and upgrades than me, so now the gap between them and me has widened. I will never be able to close that gap and get anything other than bottom tier rewards. I come from the days of Links 386. All I want to do is pull up a course and play a round, I don't care about online competition. Can I do that?

Sponsorship challenges are great for xp money and cosmetics

Digging this game so far. Lamenting the lack of driving range though. But.... I got only 1500 premium points with my Deluxe Edition, not 4500! 😆

I found out later that I also got premium points for EA play and also for being a EA Play pro member so that might be where more came from. I am not sure though LOL!

Daily tournaments, I'm a 3 clicker, problems with my hands the tourneys are for swing stick no good for me.

I don’t remember the Tiger Woods games being such a grind to play. Or any other golf game come to that

Agreed. 2K23 putting especially, the EA putting meter system in particular ruins it for me. When I play I have all swing meters, and power meters, and aiming assists off. But boy what I would give for a decent season mode after playing HB/2K's game the past few years.

Hi Ryan. I've noticed some bugs within the game (lol). But specifically some of the rewards. For example, I completed Chapter 1 of KF Tour California Classic which says I have "collected" a Wood Blue Spec. However, I do NOT actually have it! And yes, my rewards have all been collected. I bring this up because you said that you did not buy any points but have some because of Deluxe edition. I *also* have the "big" version - yet I only have 1500. Something else, I am no longer getting rewards for Daily tournaments. I make a point of doing both free ones per cycle (so 4 total per day). For the first several days, I was getting my rewards for each. However, yesterday I only got one reward from the previous evening's final pair. Then I did all four throughout the day yesterday - and got NO rewards from any of them.

Yeah I have noticed recently that I am not getting all my rewards as well. So I did find out that I also got premium points from having EA Play Pro as well. I also did not get any of my rewards from my weekend tournaments, seems to be a server overload or something right now. Hopefully this all gets sorted out ASAP

Okay in the challenges has anyone else experienced a problem with that I do what it asks but I do not get the star ? Like it does not register that I accomplished the task. I am playing on the PC version I don't know if there's an issue with that version.

How did you finish the challenges? On PS5 they won't allow me to complete and it's not rewarding any stars. From what I've seen the same issue on Xbox

So it seems that this same glitch is not occurring for everyone. I have seen a few people leave comments experiencing the same thing as you. I have not experienced it myself. That is a terrible bug though, hopefully that gets fixed ASAP!!!

I struggle with putting its mind blowing. So should I build up the putting first. This game is hard. So I try and move the putting icon the way of my putt

So if you find yourself missing your power, tempo, and swing plane on putts than it might be good for you to focus more on putting for added forgiveness to missed hit shots. So increased putting skills leads to more forgiveness on your missed inputs, but it does not necessarily make it much easier though. Putting does take a lot of practice and it will get easier overtime. I have a beginners guide tutorial on putting if you wanted to learn more about the way I approach putting in the game. When I try to hit a ball, the club often goes back to the initial address position. Is there a trick to pulling the club back and biting the ball without the club going back to the starting position? I’m playing this on Xbox Series X. Thx!

So a couple of things could cause this. 1) If you swing past the end of the power meter the swing will reset back to the starting position, so if you swing forward sooner it should not happen. 2) Another cause could be not having a smooth transition from back to forward and stopping the forward motion. The most common cause is number 1. Hope this helps!

Can anyone tell me why we can’t buy a physical copy of this game in Australia?

I'm a beginner, there is two things I'm finding frustrating. The ball & my feet is below or above is that the ball? The other is I hit the ball clean & straight and into the wind of 2mph and somehow the ball goes way off course with no reason I can see, why is that? please answer this.

So ball position relative to feet will affect the right to left movement of the ball initially. So ball below feet, aim a bit to the left to compensate (right handed golfer, opposite for left handed), and ball above the feet, aim to the right to compensate. Lie angles in this game do not have a huge affect on the shot though, so you do not need to do big compensations. Now for the ball going way off course even when hit straight, that is likely do to the inherent randomness with each landing spot in this game. So the grey landing area zone shown for each shot in this game indicates the range that the ball can land even when struck perfect. As you improve your golfer skills, this dispersion zone will get smaller, but the ball will never go exactly where you want it and there will always be some RNG/randomness for each shot. Hopefully this helps! Cheers!

It's because EAs greed they made all equipment and clothing cosmetic only so you gain nothing getting new gear. They ruined the game because of this. I'm level 4 and driving 400 yards with what I started with. Very disappointed in their micro transactions and this disaster of a game.

So far there are definitely enough credits, I have not had the urge to spend any money in the game so far. Also there is no pay to win for club specs or skills which is awesome! If you just play the daily arcade tournaments and the 1000 pro 4 hole tournaments each day you accumulate so many reward points and tickets. Especially if you play 6 a day. And also there are big rewards by just doing challenges, completing quests, and playing the weekly and seasonal tournaments.

Do the spec cards apply to one club only or can I apply them to all the clubs of that type?

So you can apply the same club type spec to all the clubs of that type. For example I have the same legendary club spec applied to all of my irons.

Playing and going back to this tutorial... Two items frustrating me! (1) Putting Swing Mechanics. Two lines behind the ball position. What do they representation in terms of power. (2) Swing Arc & After Shot Display Window: In most approach & short game shots you will need to hit a partial shot. Practically speaking, I need to know were to stop/swing to below 100% in the swing arch for specific shot/distance. Now, it is a guessing game. The shot display window **ought to display the power percentage used** not a +/- figure. Ideally, the swing arc would be most helpful if it had percentage indicators {100%. 90% and so on. WGT swing meters are like this.} The after shot display does not tell me much in order to repeat the shot another time. ~ Cheers ~

1. So in this game the power meter automatically changes based where you are aiming with the aim marker and the middle line on the power meter is the perfect power that you want to hit to get the desired power. If you hit the perfect spot it will be the power you set up with the aim marker, if not it will be an under or overswing of different + or - values. So it is completely different than that of 2K23. 2. So in this game the power meter basically stays the same for the perfect region for each shot type, and partials are hit by adjusting the aim marker and still hitting the perfect power spot on the meter. So the true partial shot type that is key in this game for in-between distances is the finesse shot. So the earlier you can unlock the finesse shot the better. I believe you unlock it in the approach control skill levels. now most short game shots it is the same, you set the power by selecting the proper aim with the aim marker and then try to hit the perfect power shot shown on the power meter. Hope this helps!

2K for me is more geared towards online, considering that it is essentially what used to be The Golf Club. Ryan is right. Definitely this one.

Why can't I upgrade my golfer on the KF Tour anymore? Played a whole tourney but the option to edit my stats has disappeared...What the heck?

That is very strange. I know they were having a lot of server issues today and with the game always requiring an online connection maybe it is a server side thing. Or maybe it is some strange glitch in the game. Hopefully it gets fixed ASAP. Now there is a cap on skills at level 50, but I doubt you are there yet in the KF Tour.

Hey Ryan please help, my game is super laggy and buggy. Firstly when I do my challenges the stars don’t load, when I aim my shot left with no fade or draw, it swings like 2 degrees left which makes me get double bogeys and the menus are very snappy and slow and im on ps5 pls help because the game currently isn’t really fun because of this.

Yeah so they released a patch yesterday and a lot of problems have followed. Hopefully they can fix all of it soon! It seems better for me tonight, but everything is a little delayed it seems still.

Are the challenge rewards only claimable once per account? I rolled a second character and could not redo challenges my first character completed. How disappointing.

Yeah the challenge rewards seem to be once per account rather than once per character. Definitely takes a lot longer to level up the second character without being able to do the coaching academy challenges again.

@@GamerAbility Hi just a follow up, I completed a few Sponsor challenges on my first character then I switched to the new one started a career and the sponsor challenges I completed one the other character were shown as completed. They have to fix this. Why bother putting in extra character slots for this. The coaching academy is one thing, but doing it to something inside the career mode is beyond dumb.

Just purchased on PS5. I have no menu, it only allows me to play The Masters with Scheffler. What am I missing?

So it starts the game with a full round at Augusta national playing as Scottie Scheffler. After you play that round it will take you to the character creator. You cannot quit out of that tournament either, it will just take you back in when you open the game again and you have to complete it.

@@markthompson7301 I have never heard of that, very strange. If you are connected to Playstation network online and have an EA account it should all show up. You do have to create and link an EA account to play the game, but if you have played any other EA games on your console it should already have it linked. If I were you I would contact EA customer support.

I cannot get past the open training at the masters any idea how?

So I have actually seen another person post this glitch as well, to where they are stuck in the first round at Augusta playing as Scottie Scheffler and that even when they finish they cannot move into the menus. I have not experienced it myself and do not know how to fix it. The only thing I would think to do would be to uninstall the game, delete local & cloud saved data, and then reinstall and see if that fixes it. If it does not I would definitely try to contact EA PGA Tour customer service. You could also check out the EA PGA Tour forums and post it there to see if anyone else has had the problem there.

I just did the putting challenge. Took me nearly an hour and i got 450 points plus xp but did not level up. Not worth doing for levelling up and very annoying. My advice just play the game and do a challenge when you feel like it. Don't grind just enjoy the game. In other words ignore Ryan. 😁Personally i play a bit of everything and have fun. Some of these challenges can be fun in small bites. Well played EA for giving lots of variety in the game.

ah he is super competitive , fun tho, i dont care about quick upgrade, dont need much upgrade at all.

@@wout123100 me too. Gradually upgrading and seeing the benefits is part of the fun.

Does anyone know why It won't let me get past round 1 after any tournaments. I play the first 18 holes round 1 and then it won't let me go to round 2 3 or 4. It just makes me repeat hole 18 on round 1 everytime

So someone else actually reported this same glitch in a comment today. This seems like a terrible glitch that some are experiencing in the game. I do not know if there is a work around or anything like that yet. Hopefully this gets fixed ASAP

No they do not. The only way you could do that is by logging in with a different account

Coaching academy results aren’t registering for me on PlayStation 5 , anyone else receiving this issue or know how to help? First challenge driving .. 3 of 5 in the fairway, zero stars or results. Annoying

@@GamerAbility extremely! Pretty much a golf game novice these challenges are needed ha! Though it seems to be a lot of talk on Twitter about lagging UI menus, challenges not rewarding stars etc.. hopefully EA get this worked on and patched

Great video! Much appreciated! One question, is anyone else struggling with hitting a slow swing all the time? No matter what I do or how fast I move the stick, it does not go faster than like a -1 slow! Any tips would be greatly appreciated 🙈

@@garrettclemmons3991 😂 same mate. I did change the swing tempo down to slowest and it’s helped a bit but still can’t get close to a fast swing or even close to perfect.

So one thing that could help is go to the edit golfer menu and edit the swing. Then change the swing tempo to the slowest. This will make the perfect be a slower downswing tempo on the analog stick. Yeah I have to flick the stick basically as hard as I can to get closer to perfect on the normal tempo. Hope this helps!

I am having the same issue. What did you find out

Lot of missed opportunities: Free roam, golf carts, leagues w/ friends, scrambles, partner tourneys.

In the challenge section, I find you don't have a chance as you have no control of the ball.

For some reason after completing 5 FIR'S I didn't receive any stars despite landing in the fairway all 5 times.

GIR = Greens in Regulation. FIR = Fairways in Regulation.

Thank you Ryan for your very thorough and informative video, I'm very late with obtaining my PS5, and this game was my first purchase since it was unavailable to PS4 owners anyway I've been a fan of the golf game series, since 1st gen Tiger Woods- thru hot shots golf which in my opinion was a very good game albeit cartoon format, so I definitely have a understanding and knowledge of the basic game, but getting started is key in any game that you have a created a avatar and I'm sure that even if there weren't content creators such as yourself I would of eventually figured out a path to forge FWD, but since we are in a technology advanced era, it makes sense to take advantage of any tips and pointers available to enhance your chances of being successful and Ryan you definitely give your viewers that fighting chance, Absolutely Love, your content my man you do have the ability to give very clear and informative instructions, if listened to to help your viewers from making costly newb errors, I'll definitely be following your advice to the letter and continue to be on the watch for any and every further content you put out, thanks again your gamer tag is fitting and perfect in my opinion you do possess "Gamer Ability" so please for late to the party player's such as myself please keep reposting your content so I for one can travel from A to Z with your guidance to becoming a player who reflects the excellent advice and instruction I received from you!
