@@marguskiis7711 2024 is definitely an improvement over 2023 but for me neither the tracks nor the cars nor the races compare with the golden years of the eighties. Motor GP is incredible racing but F1 is track limits, driver penalties and let's not race in the rain ( the Spa farce when Verstappen won behind the pace car).

Old school hockenheim...into the trees.. fantastic

I remember we could hear them from the complete other end of the circuit in Montreal. And the sound would get louder and louder and the excitement was building up as they were approaching. I remember the rib cages shaking to the sound of those magnificent cars as they zoomed by on a straight line.Even many miles away we could hear them quite well. Just an unbelievable era.

I miss these engines. I also miss the drama from unreliability. Todays cars are too reliable

Well, having been watching F1 fanatically since 1986, no wonder I quit following the sport 3 or so years ago. Rather than feel sad, I prefer to feel privileged.

I have to say, that's exactly how I feel. I still look up the results after a race but I just cannot get into it like I used to.

Very good. Great to see and hear just the machines on the circuit, similar to if we were there. No commentator, no narration. Thanks for sharing.

@@amjan The cars suffered post Senna's death, but they had proper engines high revving V-10's. There were good battles between great drivers. Schumacher, Hakkinen, Villeneuve, Frentzen, and others. Colourful team principles, colourful cars. To name a few.

Jeez, the speed Mansell hit that chicane at the end, halved the gap to Berger, frightening

Mansell simply tapped with white tape the Marlboro branding on his helmet rather than using a new one.

Audio is fantastic!

The cars weighed much less those days because the drivers had an extra 100kg of balls to carry around the track. No driving aids, just pure skills.

Oh, how fast I forgot the old routing of the good old Hockenheimring. Was my lovely track! Incredible how unstable the cars were bumoing around on the track. But the SOUND was much better than today!!

Yes with best looking cars. The Marlboro McLarens in the simple but striking livery, my all time favorite.

Senna grabbing that first turn lead, the high rev whine of the engines, flying through a forest, the sparks flying from the titanium skid plates as the cars bottom on the bumps this was F1. Damn I miss that!

Eu sinto ao mesmo tempo uma imensa saudade e uma enorme tristeza pelo o que fizeram com o magnífico circuito de Hockenheim.

Those were the days where fatal accidents were still possible and so it was much more exciting than the boring races with the safe cars of nowadays.

I wish they went back to these designs of the F1s. Sure, they had downforce, but it was way more up to the driver to get the results. I miss this.

Berger was fighting a battle he couldnt win

What I really liked in those days is this nervous behavour of the cars even on the straight. This gives much more a feeling of high speed and high risk what is the true fascination of motor sports. For saftey reasons though it was horrible. The scene where they take away the stranded car and they go on with full speed, nowadays not possible and this is good so, as just a little thing have to go wrong and you end up in a desaster!

That was the hockenheimring before it was de-teated . These days it's something for pelvic jumpers and warm shower types

Senna, Prost, Piquet, Mansell, K.Rosberg, Lauda, Berger... amazing personalities that are missing from today's F1. It's all too sterile and boring now. Kimi and Alonso were the last old school racing drivers.

What beautiful, shark-like things the McLaren and Ferrari were. I like how the Marlboro branding on Mansell's helmet was just covered over with sticky tape!

1 Superb cars that sounded great and could race each other 2 An excellent track that demands low downforce & therefore you really see the cars sliding around in the chicanes 3 Tyres that seemed to suit being raced hard, rather than the current tyre confirmation formula 4 Less interference from unnecessary safety cars 5 A full grid of cars, without the FIA preventing new teams from entering the sport 6 FREE coverage on TV. I used to follow this really closely. However, the idea of paying a TV subscription to follow the current Grand Processions does not appeal.
