5:54 The N64 actually has a slightly easier time with untextured models than with 2D sprites. However, they likely chose to do this because they thought it was more impressive to have the pickups be 3D models, rather than for technical reasons. My main evidence for this hunch is that those pickups seem a bit higher-poly than being untextured would compensate for.

Here in France, Infogrames was known for making game adaptations of french/belgian comics on the super nintendo especially, like tintin, lucky Luke, the smurfs, asterix etc. There were all very beautiful games, very close to the base material, but there were also known for having sadistic game design, cheap deaths, and a very high difficulty because of that, but some of them were good ^^ . I didn't know about this N64 game, i was surprised it seemed to be so poorlymaded with the camera and all, i guess they were experimenting with the 3D :/

I remember asking for this game as a kid...just because I saw it and wanted a game and my grandparents were offering. I never got through it. Because I refused to look at the instructional booklet and because I guess I didn't understand the tutorial, I had no idea how to play the game until yeeaaarrrs later. I had no idea using the z button was so pivotal lmao. Sheeeeeeeeeeit. Love that Ten Suns theme tho :)

Another one of my list of old platformers I never heard of. "Everybody in this game is an asshole" ah yes, it's French. Tbh that's disappointing that the moveset is so limited, even if the gameplay is more focused on the quests. Why even make it circus themed then? There is so much potential behind having a circus athlete as a main character.

Infogrames did those super difficult Tintin and Spirou games for the SNES. They also did a bunch of Asterix games, I think they must've had like an idea of only adapting comic books for a hot minute there.

Your description of sound issues does a great job at encapsulating what bother's me most in Prey (2017). No game should dare compare itself to a Looking Glass title while having a jank sound system. >.>

Oh my Goodness!!!! THANK YOU NITRORAD!! I played this game such a long time ago as a child. But I could never remember the name of this game and was never able to finish because I played a demo disk. Now I can finally try to find a copy and play it through. Thank you so much dude it means a lot! I would recommend a little game called "Silver" from 1999. I think you will enjoy that too. Most people haven't heard of it due to the popularity in Final Fantasy and other games around that period.

I bought this for PC at the mall when I was a kid at EB games after buying school clothes with my parents. I played it for hours before I went to bed that night then caught my flu and had starshot-themed fever dreams all evening. I feel like even without the flu this game was surreal enough to feel unsettling and I never could fully get in to it. I remember getting in to space (?) and not knowing what to do and uninstalling it. The next time I went I bought Deus Ex and never really looked back but all the same I’m glad I picked this gem up. I’ve never met anyone else that has played it so thank you for confirming that this game wasn’t just a 103 degree fever-induced nightmare lol. Edit: watching this now and I can confirm that the camera moving when scaling the diagonal walkways causing you to fall to your death in the outer space level caused me to rage quiet and never come back 😂

This game sounds like it would have been more interesting as a point and click adventure as opposed to a platformer because it's got neat scenarios, characters, and writing, but lackluster platformer gameplay. Like imagine if Monkey Island still had the same lovable cast of characters and locations but for some reason the devs made it a platformer where Guybrush wasn't fun to control, that's the sort of vibe I get from Starshot.

If you think that was good, you should see the whole story and previous versions of Kameo: Elements of power. That game had *serious* potential, especially the XBOX version, until they made Rare redo a game that was almost complete, solely to become an Xbox 360 launch game. The game was in development for about 5 years, I think P:

I remember renting a used copy of this game back in the day and just being stuck on the level the last person who played it made it to because I literally had no idea what I was doing. But back then, I just had fun with anything we ever rented, so it didn't really bother me. Really makes me wish I'd gone back and given it another shot, though, kinda like how I couldn't understand Glover the first time I played it but then rented it again a year later and beat it.

Hey NitroRad! I want to thank you for doing this video! A couple months i was playing ratchet and clank and i had a very clouded memory of another character out of no where because i was looking the way ratchet was running and i couldnt remember what game it was. And this was the game! I remember everything now. I had played starshot on my PC in the 90s. But was a demo of the beach level. Thanks for bring the memories back! P.S you think you can do a video of JazzJackRabbit 2? Now thats a retro game.
