You should go check out warhammer 40k Blackstone fortresses, The rock, The Phalanx, The furious Abyss, Trisagion and Blessed Lady, Gloriana-class Capital ships, Space hulks, Tomb ships, World engine, Craftworlds all of which would probably give Starwars a run for its money. Stuff like the world engine and craftworlds as well as some space hulks are all probably bigger than the Death star and there are many more than just 1 of them. the rest are probalby just as poweful. In terms of things like the Abyss and gloriana class ships they were much bigger than the executor class star destroyers as the SSDs came in at around 19km long while the Glorianas ranged from 20-26km in size and even they were dawarfed by the abyss class. All that being said Halo probably wins maybe only Craft worlds and some spacehulks have a chance of being in that scale.

JihadiJesus 911 - Lmao, the Necrons would shit on SW so badly it wouldn't even be funny. Even the current non-awakened 40k ones would. Keep in mind the Necrons could go toe-to-toe with the Forerunners who can likely solo the entire SW setting with a single ship. Pitting them against SW is just plain sadistic. If you want something that can defeat Halo with trivial ease, try the Culture from Iain M. Banks novels. Actually, the Empire could run around in circles with any IoM vessel. Imperium vessels do have far greater firepower possessing armaments capable of cracking planets, but lack horribly in the mobility department. Believe it or not, the Death Star wouldn't be a very useful asset in a scenario like this; instead, the Empire would have to rely on their Hyperspace technology allowing them far greater response times & it would prove exceedingly difficult for the Imperium to intercept their vessels. They could hypothetically play the long game & win in the end. Also, not much in Warhammer can stop a blast from Starkiller Base to my knowledge at least. What's stopping them from just obliterating Holy Terra & completely destroying the Sol System entirely in a single blow? P.S: Oh god, I am debating for SW. xD

@@jerichoshannon6783 They retconned the sizes of the Death Stars several times. But old VFX notes strongly suggests the first was meant to be 102 miles wide. And the second potentially 5 times bigger, but that may never have been finalized. Onscreen visual evidence, is mixed (holograms, distant shots, horizon curvature, etc) Under Disney they are now 160 km and 200 km, respectively.

I think the difference shown is way too large. I was under the impression that the second was roughly twice as large as the first *in volume*, which would make the diameter 1.26 times larger. 160 vs 200km seems to fit. So how come it took them 20 years to build the first one, but only a couple of years to build the second? 😊

The size of the Borg cube is actually 3,000 meters on every side thus it should have been written as 3x3x3 km.

Would love to see this updated with some new sci fi universes like The Expanse, maybe include Dune, and some stuff that hasn't been brought to the screen but are iconic. Asimov's Foundation, for example. Pretty cool to see this though, thanks!

For those wondering, the Ark is actually paltry compared to some of the Forerunner's larger projects. There was actually another larger Ark (the Greater Ark) that manufactured the original twelve 30,000km Halo models which was destroyed during the Forerunner-Flood war. Though as far as I know, it's exact specifications were never actually elaborated upon. Also, they have hundreds of shield worlds of various sizes dotted across the galaxy. Should have thrown in Shield World 006 (Trevalyan) from Halo for good measure. It's a literal dyson sphere measuring at 2 AU (300 million km) with an internal surface area equivalent to 500 million Earths that was able to shrink down to the size of a baseball & move through slipspace.

D00Rhinge Maethrillian was the capitol of the Ecumene which was believed to be greater than any of the Arks in scale; although like them, very little information actually exists. IIRC, it was believed to be around the size of a gas giant equivalent to Saturn, maybe even larger. It housed a mere 100,000 Forerunners of the highest castes; being mainly builders of course & trillions of ancilla. It was destroyed during the war as well. Keep in mind that individual high ranking Forerunners would claim entire worlds as their own & even design them down to their own personal tastes as well. Inheriting entire planets as family heirlooms wasn't unheard of even.

D00Rhinge - Like I said, comparing the Galactic Empire or the Imperium of Man to the Ecumene is a ludicrous assertion to make. You can multiply every asset that exists in the former's setting by a factor of ten & the Forerunners would still stomp the opposition. As for the latter, they can literally run circles around them & encapsulate entire planetary systems with swarms of sentinels. The Forerunners are not to be fucked with. And yet, they are considered mid-tier in Sci-Fi; several higher polities: i.e Culture, Xeelee, Time Lords, Downstreamers to name a few make them either look like kids on a playground or even bacteria in comparison.

A lot of the comments here make me both cringe & laugh at the same time. By the way, I am a Halo fan & I can tell you right now most of these guys probably don't really even know what they are saying, but to be fair, the wank is equally apparent on both ends. Halo is far from the best. Take the Xeelee for instance. They can shit on every single faction mentioned here all at once & not lose a single casualty while doing so in virtually zero-time.

There is a broader range of figures for the second Death Star's diameter, ranging from 160 to 900 kilometers, so basically the video is neither wrong or right, and the Imperial is really the victory class witch is 900 m so the video sources for the Imperial is wrong and should be fixed

Please consider that the Forerunners in Halo constructed Dyson Spheres (spheres that go all the way around stars to the point of around the Asteroid Belt in our Solar System) on a pretty regular basis and the Lesser Ark (simply called The Ark in this video) was pretty small for the Forerunners. Ain’t no Ringworld gonna top that.

The Death Star is Hyperspace Capable, and Halo rings have super advanced Slipspace Drives. i'd say they're more than capable of being called space ships. i will however admit the Halo Rings are more of a stretch than the Death Star.

Technically the Homeworld lore has some of the largest artificial objects of any game I've ever seen. Usually referred to as Progenitor megaliths, you can only view them from a distance because they make up some of the skyboxes. Mission 8 of Homeworld 2 is a good example.

In Star Trek TNG: A Final Unity (PC game), the Chodak Unity Device was a sphere with a diameter of 314.000.000 km diameter (aprox. 2 AU, same as earth orbit diameter around Sun). And it could move in space an time, so it is a ship in all effects, albeit one of such power that could be used to perform stellar engineering.

Very interesting video with a lot of attention to detail! However, 1) It would have been interesting to see the Alexei Leonov from 2010: The Year We Make Contact, the Nostromo from Alien and Deep Space 9 from Star Trek here to see how they compare 2) The ISS is not just owned by NASA, and is made of modules from the Russian and Japanese space agencies as well 3) The video goes a little too fast at times, not giving the viewer enough time to look at the structure or its dimensions

Woah, Halo has some truly big ships, I am impressed that they beat the second Death Star I also noticed a mistake: the Star Destroyer model you showed was an Imperial class and they are 1,6 kilometers long. The Victory class Star Destroyer is 900m long though but they posses some distinct features that make them stand out more

And the second Death Star is put at around 200-360 km and not 900km. But yeah The forerunners build some Huge shit. The Mantle's Approach is a 370 km high forerunner ship. High Charity is bigger tho at around 505km hight. So the covies still got the biggets ship we saw in Halo

Patrick I. Halo weaponry is no a joke bro. You're talking about mac rounds that put mass effect weapons to shame. Halos are also capable of killing all life so, so halo is still top. The Forerunners and Precursors put most of these guys in the hole. I haven't even scratched the surface since there are nukes that could destroy a planet. To all the people saying Starkiller base is the biggest, it’s not. It’s only a puny 660 kilometers. Also, since it’s a planet, i.e. not man made, it doesn’t count as a starship. Also, the Dyson sphere from Star Trek isn’t a ship because it can’t move because it was built around a star

Correct. The video should have the cube listed at 3000m and inserted between the Reaper (2000m) and Droid Control ship (3170m). The video doesnt use km for the other ships (nor does it show height) so it should show as 3000m.

But when it comes to sheer fire power and distruction in fiction I think the forerunners run supreme, considering that the Halo rings when fired destroyed all sentient life in the milky way galaxy. Motherfuckers build artificial planets for fun and massive megastructures, I don't think firepower was an issue for them.

In real life the largest thing that doesn't expand with the universe is 340 000 light-years across, so, yeah, things can be pretty big and not collapse in on themself.

The Greater Ark is around 3x the size of the Lesser Ark, if we do the calculations the Greater Ark is around 380,000 km in diameter.

@@johnderat2652 which would require more metal than exists in the entire universe, none of these designers must have consulted with any physicists on this. Planets aren't build entirely of metal, nor are asteroid fields, you would have to find an entire universe that is made of nothing but metal at that point, strip it down, at which point it would reach the mass of a black hole across the thickest points of the structure, but not before going supernova first.

@@nfineon First off, I disagree on your first statement, I'm sure there is enough metal in the universe. And also this is sci-fi, even the Lesser Ark is too massive to be a shape different from a sphere, but the Forerunners found a way.

Great Job buddy but I got some suggestions. 1.: Which Star Destroyer did you use for this comparison? The most iconic and the one you used in this video, are the Imperial Class II Star Destroyers. They are about 1,6 km long. There are 900 m long Star Destroyers called Victory Class SD. But they look different and aren't that much popular. 2.: How about you scale them right? The Enterprise NCC 1701 is nearly twice as big as the Normandy but in 3D models they are about the same. 3.: Would be cool if you could take the Human from the beginning and move him along with the camera. So the viewers could better understand the sheer dimensions. If the human gets too small take a bigger ship and drag him along. 4. Maybe a little glimpse at the asian Sci-Fi-Scene? There are tons of famous anime space ships and mechas with a big fanbase. But anyway great job. I rly admire your effort. Thx!

Yamato would be small in comparison to most of the ships here. Even a Star Destroyer would easily dwarf Yamato. Heck, the largest aircraft carriers today would dwarf Yamato.
