Everyone has their favorite Javert. To me, it's Quast. His voice and take on Javert is honestly my favorite.

For me Quast is Javert and always will be ….he still brings me to tears his voice and acting is unrivalled

maybe, but Norm Lewis is a kinda close...and Carpenter iis prety good too...but Michael Ball is just not cut out for this one (if the point is to be having Ball and Boe on one stage, I would argue that it should be the other way around with Alfie Boe actually playing Javert), still a terrific singer

@@lubormrazek5545 I'm not sure what it is. He was Marius when I started getting interested in musical theatre and will forever stay as Marius (I know many actors have played multiple roles but Ball I feel just doesn't have the characterisation of Javert)

It is ludicrous to put Quast in this line up. All are great but Quast is simply out on his own in a different hemisphere

Quart is also my favorite. Voice, eyes, feelings and he never lets go.

like many here, i grew up with quast and he will always be the definitive javert, but norm is a very very close second

Philip Quast by far the best.

I’ve never listened to or watched Les Mis before, but I finally listened to the entire 10th anniversary concert yesterday, and I’m obsessed. And now, I am discovering that I also first listened to these songs in their best version, as well! It seems Colm and Quast are unquestionably the best performers of their respective songs. Many of these men are great vocalists, but I’m not hearing any of them bring as much emotion and agony to Stars or Bring Him Home as Colm and Quast do.

All great , but Phillip Quast can’t be beaten on this song and character. In my view .

The editing is so seamless it sounds like they all are on stage singing their respective parts without the orchestra faltering as is to be expected with these edits.

Quast head and shoulders above these wonderful examples of Javert.

1. First of all, great editing! 2. They are all great 3. But including Quast isn't fair to the rest. He can never be beat. He is simply perfect for that role.

I wasn't looking at the video just listening and could not tell when it changed from Philip Quast to Jeremy Secomb. Those two are top tier and hands down the best Javerts.

I love Philip Quast first Than i saw Jemery Secombe in London - i absolutely loved it as he was new to the role and i wasn't expecting the amazing performance live ... Wow I seen others ... and im.so happy to see him here on the greatest Javerts :)

Norm Lewis- for me there’s no contest.

The best Javerts understand that Javert isnt there to make a fancy flourish with his song... the song is to convince you of his consistent passionate pursuit of his goal. Relentless, determined, and as inevitable as the stars.

We need to add Jordan Donica, who is playing this role right now! What a great singer! What great singers here! What a great song!

Great job with this! The transitions are seamless and lovely. Such a great song and amazing musical.

Quast is still King in my personal opinion but Secomb is as about as close to the perfection that Quast embodied. You can see the influence. My god they are incredible performers! Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of Michael Ball in this role though. I adore him as a performer, but this is just not his character.

Of the ones you have, Philip Quast and Norm Lewis are the best. But my favorite will always be Terrance Mann, the original, whom I saw on Broadway. Why is there no video as him as Javert?

I would have loved to include Terrance Mann if I could, but unfortunately, there is just no high-quality video from his stint as Javert singing Stars.

In no way discrediting your opinion but I just wanna say they sound different because the recording is from the end of the 2019 concert when Ball “handed” the coat over so it was just a stars duet rather than a character portrayal. If you can still find any audios of Bradley Jaden singing stars I’d recommend it to get a more accurate representation of his portrayal of Javert, he sounds different when he’s actually performing it in the show. Obviously not trying to sound like I’m disagreeing with you, in this video you can tell who bodies javert in their performance, but just thought I’d add that. :)

I'd love to see a Valjean version of this haha! Loved the video

I wouldn't say that's off the table, but the reason I opted to make this video about Stars instead of a of Valjean song like Bring Him Home is because that kind of already exists, we have Bring Him Home sung as quartet and a quintet at the end of the 25th Anniversary Concert and the Staged Concert, so I would basically just be recreating what they already did. Who knows, maybe someday, though.

Roger Allam will still always be Javert to me, just a shame there are no video recordings of his Stars

Quast is the best for me - no question. I think he is the best vocally and dramatically. Ball is actually the weakest IMO.
