Labour reveals first steps of a Starmer government

The Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced the six first steps his government would make if he wins the General Election later this year. The promises include cutting NHS waiting lists and recruiting more teachers. But the overarching theme was stability and caution with the public finances.
(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Sir Keir said the policies were a "down payment on change" and he blamed the economic crisis during Liz Truss's premiership for the fact that he was not being more ambitious.

I left the UK to teach abroad after being stabbed and having my knee dislocated and nothing happening in either case, infact being told to expect that sort of injury in teaching and after 28 years I have spent the last 6 years of my life actually teaching and not behaviour managing. Don't expect teachers to stay unless you can sort the behaviour and attitudes of students and their parents.

@@lal2300 this is true with Boris’ levelling up strategy. However, a lot of big biotech companies are still leaving the London stock exchange to make New York there primary home for listing. I don't understand the negativity of the interviewer at 3:48 . Surely if the shortfall is halved, that is good, no? They would be an incoming government. What use is there making a more ambitious promise if they can't deliver it. If they have this goal of halving the shortfall and they breeze past it and do better, then that's good, is it not? Whereas if they promise to completely erase the shortfall and fail to meet that target they will be criticised. Sometimes you just can't win with journalists.
