'Starmer on the Ropes!' Sarah Vine and Andrew Pierce react to ITV Leaders' debate | The Reaction
Sarah Vine and Andrew Pierce react to the ITV debate between Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer. They chat about the format of the debate, if the labour leader was being truthful about not using private healthcare and how the Prime Minister would have felt when the audience laughed at his plans for National Service.
They discuss the role Nigel Farage and Reform is playing in the election and Sarah reveals why young people are interested in voting for the Liberal Democrats.
They also talk about the story behind the three babies that have been abandoned in East London and the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

    My 16 year old grandson is currently sitting his GCSE’s with one of his subjects being history. He will be sitting one paper next week which covers Nazi Germany and WWII. He hopes to go on to do A level history and then join the RAF. He would love to visit the war graves and this something we are looking to do with him. So maybe there is a small glimmer of hope for his generation being aware of the sacrifices that were made.

As for the Falklands it was felt at home - by the loved ones of the men fighting. I have not seen it reported anywhere that all these private schools which will now have to be VAT REGISTERED, can CLAIM back VAT for 4 years. So any big building projects, electrical bills, stationary - literally everything with a VAT charge can be claimed back! All VAT charged services such as Accountancy Legal Plumbing paid for in the last 6 months, can also be claimed back It’s the only fun thing about the tedious business of being a tax collector for the government!!! This will cost the government a lot of money - watch the savvy accountants - lest we think the ‘private’ schools are completely stupid. Duh 🙄 THIS IS FROM GOVERNMENT SITE: You can generally reclaim VAT on goods you bought up to 4 years before you registered for VAT and services you bought up to 6 months before you registered as long as the following conditions are met; The goods were bought by you as the entity that is now registered for VAT

  • @user-dw3fx1jp2v

    @user-dw3fx1jp2v

    Ай бұрын

    The issue isn't that the schools can reclaim VAT, it is that their "sales" - student fees - will now (if Labour is elected) attract a VAT charge to the customer (parents). Can the parents afford to pay an extra 20% (which they cannot reclaim). Those that can't will have to take their children out of the private school and put them into state schools. So, the smart Labour party will not receive additional VAT into the treasury - which, along with non-dom tax - they have spent a dozen times over. Plus, they will have to provide additional spend on state schools. As always with politics of envy, the consequences are never thought through, or costed.

    @@user-dw3fx1jp2v Thank you for bothering to reply!! My point was that they are trying to persuade the electorate the increase of funds that will come from the 20% VAT to the Treasury, is only part of the story, when in actual fact they will have a barrage of CLAIMS from every school who has a savvy accountant! So not only will they lose a large number of pupils, but there will be a big cost factor…

    They need to clone Nigel Farage so that there is someone as dynamic as Nigel in every constituency and then Nigel would walk into Downing Street more easily and that is where he belongs. Time for positive change and the only person for the job is Nigel as the forthcoming TV debate will prove. Go you Nigel you rock! Time you got the keys to Downing Street, the others have ruined this country between them so far. Nigel is our only hope, he is the People's Prime Minister not the governments or the civil servants puppet unlike the others.
