They've literally scripted _planned goofs_ for some of their shows in the past (the Taylor Lautner poster in AVPS, the flying diary in AVPSY, Joey's bad note in TTO), so anything goes with Starkid really! 😂

Because it was a planned mistake probably. Joey Richter talked about it in an interview once. They had to change who "Peter" was last minute because what they originally planned didn't play out well when they rehearsed it. I was kinda disappointed when i found out because at the time I thought "wow! They covered that so well"

Tbh I have a hard time seeing 2:27 as a fail because while not technically intended, it's very in character and makes textual sense for Emma to do that in that number! Honestly though, I want "ohohohoho HA oX LiKE mE" written on my tombstone

Words to live by in theatre: It's not avoiding mistakes that matters, it's how you recover from them. And these guys recovered really damn well. Though I do question why rehearsals were included. Those aren't fails, they're experimentation.

I feel that a lot of these are Joey Richter and Robert Manion which is just beautiful

Starkid fails is the definition of "the show must go on" and any issue that occurs just gets turned into a comedic bit that the actors can improv jokes off of, i love it

one of the best parts of nick as emma in my opinion is when he does the “oh thank god line” before the tip song, instead of laurens normal like “uhhh im like creeped out by you, oh thank god a distraction” nick says “oH thAnk gOD” like you’d say “oh gOoDnESS FINALLY”

I would argue that the video of nick Lang doing Emma's part is not a mistake, but a great blessing

2:32 Joey not hitting a note is actually scripted. But the next couple lines of dialogue after are scripted. Joey actually has a huge range, so when he doesn’t hit a note, it’s always on purpose.

i appreciate the 5:24 scene where lauren is nailing the choreography and the other to girls are panicking

The whole “lean on the light switch” part is relatable, happened to me when I was doing back stage for Willy Wonka at my local theatre, nothing feels worse than the sinking feeling you get when you realize you just turned on the lights of the entire stage while they are in the middle of a dance number

i love how offended joe sounds when jaime calls him stinky at 4:43

The “Ho ho ho ho! Ho ho ho ho ho! Ox like me!” constantly plays in my mind. It’s one of my vocal stims too lol

I know its technically TCB and not Starkid but "Cluebert was the glue of our gloop" is by far my favorite

Luckily the person who played king Arthur made an exUse for me to quickly get them but moral of this story is when u make a mistake fake it till you make it♡

honestly i love how they all just laughed about all their fails afterwards. it’s great to see that. i’ve made so many mistakes in shows before, happens to everyone, but i’ve always gotten screamed at by the directors for them lol. so it’s nice to see how they all have good fun in the end.

You all know about Hegelochus in Ancient Greece? In 408 BCE, this actor messed up a line in the drama Orestes so badly that it became a meme for centuries, in tons of comedy plays. We literally only know his name because it was such a funny mistake. Starkid fails literally make the show funnier, is what I'm saying. (By the way, he was supposed to say "after the storm I see again a calm sea", but instead he said "after the storm I see again a weasel".)

Jeff's laugh is so pure I can't-

They record whole performances over two+ nights, and compile them into the finished product. So a whole first half can go well, and if a mistake happens they take the recording of that particular scene from another night and splice it in. That's why there's some jump cuts. The end sequence I noticed has two, Paul let it out scene has one, and Emma spitting up blood, the blood on her shirt changes position between shots.
