Uthermal talked about it in the first game, but the planetary did more than it looks like. The opponent panic chronoboosted the immortal to try to kill the CC, but that meant he didn't have enough energy for a battery overcharge which is why the hit squad was so effective.
Uthermal's channel exploded last year. To the point where it clearly wore on him. It's great he took a break, everyone should do the same when life demands it.

And he literally nailed it, basically quoting the title of my top recommended video, just missing the word PF instead of CHEESE
that siege tank bait at 12:00 felt like a top tier moment
waching it form uThermal perspective "wow", waching it from a lowko perspective "popcorn"
Y'know, funny thing at around 14 minutes Lowko said "I CHEESED EVERY-..." and I looked at the top recommended video, it's "I Planetary Rushed Every Single Game In This $400 Tournament" by uThermal
Lowko: There's there legendary Banshee with 2 kills. One of them being a command centre. Reaper in the background: That command centre still only counts as one!
4:22 if only these fortresses worked like real life where you can turn off the safety features and squish the enemy units when landing the PF.

it will forcefully push the units out of the way on landing, would be great if this was a real feature because then pf rush would actually be viable

Yeah, that's one thing to always keep in mind watching uThermal's challenges: he's generally mechanically way better than anyone he's playing against until he's hitting GM. Even then, the bottom fifty GM aren't exactly comparable to the top fifty.
Uthermal is the guy that you wanna have in every party. I bet easy to get drunk and if drunk even 10x more funier. I love him. And actually one of the reason i ,m watching Lowko is becaus of him. I got recommandation from youtube. Damn this guy is one my favorite youtuber.
31:17 I'm pretty sure thermal landed the CC just to put that sticker down then immediately lifted, what a troll I love it haha
I remember sering one of uthermal video for the first time recommended on me hes doing Planetary Rush, immediately checking his channel and i subscribe. Really love watching StarCraft video when people doing fast rush.
I love Marc's ? response to CuKu's ? - I can just see him saying "What??? You don't Planet Rush each game???" haha
We always need people to push boundaries and to always challenge ourselves. Thanks Lowko for the great commentary & thanks Uthermal for always trying to push the game to its limits.
This was fun. I watched it from Thermy's perspective for the most part, get the real insider view, and then after some epic engagements or at fun times I swap over and review that part with Lowko. What a time to do be on KZread.
Gimme more thermy! He's so fun to watch never a boring game, thanks for showcasing his obscene builds!
I love uThermal. He brought me back to SC2. CuKu seems very talented.
Sticking to his word is one part of the reason i subscribed to Uthermal :)... If he says he's going Planetary then he's going Planetary.
Sometimes, Terran mains just break, and have to get the "THIS IS WHAT I THINK OF YOUR CHEAP STATIC DEFENSES, YOU NERD!" out of their systems.
Uthermal and Mana have become legendary SC2 content creators! Love it
Just watched it in uthermal channel. Gonna watch again 'cause now it has an upgraded soundtrack. Maybe if i watch it in Rotterdam's channel for the third time, i'll meet again with the Birgingam Banger!!!! Thanks lowko!!!!!
Big fan of Marc. This series was fun.
Yeah! I watch all VOD from Uthermal 😊! To see it now with ur comment and overall view is just perfect! Pls more!
Lowko: "The problem is now you have to fight uThermal in a macro game." CuKu: "Super easy. Barely an inconvenience."
20 seconds of production without chrono gives ~1.66(repeating six) probes. 20 seconds of production with chrono gives 2.5 probes. 2.5 - ~1.66 ≈ 0.833 (repeating 3). That means each chrono gives ~0.833 probes, which is less than one. Also, each of those probes cost 50 minerals, but saving the one you already had is free. Recall is better mathematically speaking unless you need it for something else in the next 130 seconds.
Protoss: Cannons from Aiur. Swann: Hold my beer.
Back when uThermal was asking viewers for suggestions for a new series, as a joke I commented that he should do Planetary Fortress Rush to GM. But then he did it.

That is definitely a Tal tactic right there.
this really is the "throwing dynamite isn't a martial art! hey as long as it works right?" meme
Check out thermys channel for the planetary rush to GM series.
We need to give planetary fortress tactical jump ability, so that planetary fortress rush will become a more viable strategy.
Strategies become more viable the least your opponent expects them. So saying things like "Banshee opener isn't viable" is a door open to tragedy when you face one. Because people naturally tend to not pay attention to things they deem "unviable", and in a RTS game it can cost you victory.
always love it when its a thermy special
Hoping one day uT uploads a video titled "I went all out EVERY GAME in a $400 Tournament" in which he slams a couple of high grandmasters

He's made it to the finals with "cheese". He recently did an ESL cup where they were playing on the balance patch before it released on ladder and he just had to play with his strategy focusing on the units that had changed. He beat multiple pros in that run, losing the finals match to either Maru or Clem I think. Can't remember for sure but I think it was another Terran.

It is funny how Starcraft 2 evolved from strict build orders and executions back to bronze league heroes at the highest level.
happy to see cuku better job
Uthermals challenges are top notch
@Lowko Hi there. Love your content for so many years now. Have you consider adding the option 'most replayed'' on a time line? Sometimes I don't have time to watch the full game but I'd love to see the most interesting parts. Cheers from Poland!
I think most people know him actually as.... "Saltcannon"
I love this guy so much. Thermal could have played normally and gotten much further, but then I wouldn't be watching that video because I'm not here for business as usual. It feels like a handful of creators have risen up in the twilight of SC2, doing stuff like campaign challenge runs (Grant etc), mod showcases (Jay etc), and multiplayer gimmicks (Marc etc) to like, make people notice and take interest in the game again. Sure worked for me.
Ahhh , uthermal.. is so fun to watch on his channel.. he always do proxy games.. for fast win
You sound like a nice guy. Good stuff, Blizzard owes you!
Great display of skills by uThermal!
Off topic, but from what Lowko said about the music. In 20 or 30 years in retirement homes we will be sitting around taking our dementia medication and listening to Howling Fjords or Terran 3 the way our grandparents might have listened to Frank Sinatra or Lawrence Whelk.
Lol I like how lowkey lowko is taking shots at uthermal!
Seeing players 500 mmr above me getting owned like this... I’ve played in a few elk weeklys myself and omg it makes you feel so bad at the game even tho you’re top 100 GM. Dark defended my DT drop without losing a single ling or worker and then absolutely owned me
I'm all for the cheese and a PF rush is something I would do
matrix's or matrices? , great couple of games very well played that last one was a scrap and a half (and a good discration for a sprained roator cuff lol)
wow lol noice content and i agree we need another decade of sc2
Game 1 Uthermal basically spent 400 minerals for high ground vision and just straight up beat the other army.
It's not a PvP game at this point. It's freaking colonialism.

According to uThermals Sky-Terran to GM series hyperflight rotors is definitely viable, and at least when paired with a player of Marc's skill, it can be extremely punishing. Banshee harass hits even harder if you can't run them down! Also, I've been enjoying your casts, and you can thank Marc's cheesy ESL cup runs for me starting to watch your channel!
You'll always be the best player in my heart Lowko
I wonder if Uthermal gets donated the prize pool of tournaments to meme in them. I'd imagine this had to be pretty fun for him to try to make this work!
Those? Marc has them man... For sure. ⚾⚾

Mad respect for Cuku
UThermal's channel is so awesome.
uThermal always has great games to watch
hahaha! love this strat!
Looks like planetary rush can be good strategy only vs protoss with their low dps gateway units. Terrans have flying CC, cyclones and tanks, and zergs have creep.
The problem with saying builds are "valuable, or impossible" is that it depends on hoe good you are, your opponent is, and map features. Like, I don't think Planetary rushes are going to work even for Uthermal if he's playing Serral. I have seen Uthermal beat a lot of GMs with it, but there's a point where it fails. Now if YOU, Lowko, were to do the build against my Diamond level Protoss, I'd lose every game. Terrain is a smaller variable, but could also make it more or less difficult too. Love your commentary and your streams brother, never quit!
Good job Cuku
The year is 2023 and PF rush is the new meta.
Haha love this, I am going to try it XD
To be fair, Banshee speed took too long to research to fit it in to finish (with cloak) before attacking. The early banshee timing window was already closed before banshee speed could finish pretty much
1st game hilarious!!
Marcj is dutch. the j is like a y in NA. so he's Marky.
Canta you put sc1 ost on your replays??
*singalong* Lowko-, Lowko-Motion Greetings from Starlight-Express City Bochum.
This could be better said as a mass cyclone build with a planetary fortress cheerleader.
Lowko he post this games in his channel ?!?
Marc's a 🐐
Now he CC's what's going on :'D
I hit the like button before that amazing joke. Now I am wondering whether or not I should UNhit it xD
uthermal is just crazy !!! lul
Cuku is soo good damnn
I think off meta "cheese" builds pose a dilemma for the other player no matter who wins the first game: Sure, in round two they can assume their opponent will repeat the build and try to proactively counter it, but if they guess wrong and they end up preparing for a push that never comes, they've just hurt their development for nothing. The "safe" assumption is that the cheese player will follow up their surprise tactic with a meta build to keep their opponent off balance, especially if the cheese didn't pan out in game 1. Of course, if the strategy is completely useless when properly countered, that's another question, but if it is only slightly less effective than the meta build, it poses this rock-paper-scissors guessing-game problem for the opponent at the start of the game.
So why don't people mule drop onto siege tanks when they siege up spread out like that? Should be pretty cost effective way of cleaning out some tanks or at least putting damage down or just getting a few shots off your army as you move up? Is it not cost effective?
@ObeliskM
Жыл бұрын
You lose 270 minerals with each drop. Better to drop marines.
@jessep5220
Жыл бұрын
@@ObeliskM True but the siege tanks can cost you much more and often people will use multiple scans during engagements to keep them firing. Also isn't it closer to about 200 minerals per mule? about 4 marines which a tank can splat pretty quick. I guess there's value in getting the tanks off your base if their sieged up, A tank might cost 150 125 gas but sieged up infront of your base the value skyrockets in what it is worth removing that threat. Moving tanks across the map is when they're most vulnerable.
Lowko! Play against uThermal !
Where did uthermal peak? 7k?
it would be great if it had subtitles with a language option for Portuguese
oh man, sorry Lowko, I've hardly watched you since I discovered Uthermal a month or two ago... but he hasn't your breadth of scope or your warm joviality. I just can't resist the cheese and the way he triggers the more psychopathic GMs with his smurfy, sometimes meme builds. edit - also I'm a Terran player
Planetary Rushes?? THATS WHAT I DID 4 YEARS AGO!!!!!!
I am a simple man. When I see a planetary rush, I click like.
34:21 If uThermal gonna lose it anyway, why don't he tuck in at the corner and make it a mining base for a while *sigh*
why wouldnt u planetary when it keeps working? like the thing is cheeses works way more because players have gotten really comfortable getting that early natural and then trying to wall off. like especially with trying to make cyclones more viable. like i hope there is more overwhelming planetary wins cuz its crazy how fast those things can "morph" in.
It only took players 13 years to focus that protoss achilles heel is going for the pylons, no power no stuff.
it's Marky not mark jay
Why don’t they walk units under it??? They do this a lot in gold, i seem to be able to stop it all the time doing so
@RoyalFusilier
Жыл бұрын
Thermy tends to have units there to harass, distracting the enemy long enough to land. Maybe his single biggest asset is his unit control.
