Starbucks Coffee vs. Cà Phê Muối: WHICH IS BETTER?

In this video, I am in District 1, Saigon, Vietnam to get both Starbucks coffee and cà phê muối, a traditional Vietnamese coffee with salt. I order regular black coffee from Starbucks and cà phê muối with milk coffee, sugar, salt, whipped cream, and cocoa powder. I then do a taste test of both coffees and compare their flavors.
Cà phê muối is a unique coffee drink that is made with Robusta coffee beans, condensed milk, sugar, and salt. The salt is said to help to balance out the bitterness of the coffee and create a more complex flavor.
Starbucks coffee is a more familiar coffee drink that is made with Arabica coffee beans. It has a smoother, more mellow flavor than cà phê muối.
In the end, I decide which coffee I prefer and give you my signature Dank Rank review. I encourage you to watch the video to find out for yourself which coffee selection is better!
If you are traveling to Vietnam, I highly recommend trying cà phê muối. It is a delicious and unique coffee drink that you won't find anywhere else.

I think adding salt to coffee reduces the bitterness of the coffee a bit and enhances the flavor. It's similar to adding some salt to fruit. I regularly add a bit of sea salt to my ca phe sua. Your Vietnamese is getting better. Do you teach English in Vietnam?

yeah I think you're right about adding the salt, but I still prefer eating fruit without salt.

I have hypertension, and I am sodium sensitive. So I wonder how adding salt to my coffee would affect my blood pressure. I have read about people adding salt to their coffee, but never tried it for concern of the blood pressure shooting up.

@@ohigho9717 It will raise your blood pressure for sure, but you can neutralize it with eating more potassium food. When you add salt to any food, just add a tiny bit of it. A little goes a long way. Take care.

@@mikelam5707 Thanks for the info, Mike. High blood pressure had made a mess of me a few times, with two trips to the ER with a non-stop nosebleed. I will look to eat potassium foods when I have salt. I don't use much salt on my foods. I prefer spices. I am a real pepper belly 😁

if you are going to compare starbucks americano with Vietnamese coffee. then you should get straight up Vietnamese black coffee to see which tastes better.. more than likely that vietnamese black coffee is more bitter than starbucks coffee because starbucks uses arabica coffee beans while vietnamese uses robusta coffee beans.

they don't call it a tall, grande, venti there? After having Vietnamese iced coffee, I find Starbucks is not good. I don't know how they're still in business in Vietnam when you got so many Vietnamese coffee joints. But it's different if you're drinking hot coffee. I don't know if Vietnam has good hot coffee.

No I think they use different names here. I think Starbucks stay in business here with relatively low overhead costs and a segment of the population who like patronizing an American franchise but I'm not sure

You should have just compared Starbucks to your daily coffee. Stir the cream into the salted coffee so the salt would mix in with the sweet and provide a better contrasting taste/flavor.

Starbucks?!? So many great individual businesses to support, feed the rich. Many people say they burn their beans. Shout out to Graham Greene fans! Also, I saw a mention of Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land recently. I haven't read that one, so will have to add it to my library. I can tell you that Beyond This Horizon is a good read. It is a bit out there, but it has some serious control implications in an Orwellian sort of way.

While agreed that starbucks is overrated. Agreed that kinda an unfair comparison. Can't really compare americano to an cafe muoi. Starbucks does a decent asian dolce latte. So a milk drink would be a better comparison.
