Vader only lost actually because the lightning shut off his life support, meaning he had to use like half of his power just to stay alive.

A lot of people wonder, if Vader was this powerful in the prequel era, why didn't we see any of those powers in the films: well, you have to take into consideration the years of beatdowns he received from the Emperor or secret apprentices like Starkiller. By the time of Episode IV, battle wounds and old age probably reduced his overall powers considerably until he truly became "more machine now than man".

If you check out the Making Of expanded content for the first Force Unleashed, it details the whole story writing process and everything. They actually sent outlines to George Lucas and got handwritten feedback from him. It doesn't get any more canon than that. But, Stephen is right. Disney basically wiped the slate clean. What used to be considered semi-canon is now non-canon.

Fun Fact: Dave Filoni nearly brought Starkiller back into canon to hunt the Ghost crew in Rebels but decided Maul needed to be in the show instead to finally finish Maul's story. The voice actor for Starkiller also voices Maul in Clone Wars & Rebels. So we were really close to seeing Starkiller return to canon but Dave already said he would have been nerfed power level wise. It is still possible we could see Starkiller return in canon eventually.

Luke, that day, was doing his first training. Starkiller had his training from Vader for like 8 years and this story is non-canon. Jedi cannot be powerful like that they screwed up. I personally find it complete bullshit, i mean episode 4, the first star wars thing ever and i know this sounds stupid but the whole thing in the franchise most canon, is about luke taking down the deathstar. i know the deathstar is bigger than a star destroyer but still it took luke and a whole squadron of pilots to destroy it, and the idea of starkiller taking down a star destroyer using just the force it retarded. if this happened in the films they would be no where near as popular as they are. i found this with the superman film "man of steel" i found it boring because the people in it were so powerful it was unrealistic and dumb. im glad that the expanded universe is no longer canon as half of it is complete shit. Bringing back characters like boba fett saying he survived the sarlaac pit and having people being able to take down space stations with just the force ruined it for me. anakin skywalker was supposed to be the chosen one and the most powerful force user alive, so how can starkiller take down a star destroyer using it when anakin cant? surely that would make him more powerful than anakin. but the point is there isnt supposed to be anyone more powerful than him.

Starkiller: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Vader: Lose the fight

The main reason Vader lost was because of Starkiller's superior Force abilities. He wouldn't be able to defeat Vader in a lightsaber duel for two reasons: 1. Vader trained him and his template. Starkiller's technique was about as transparent as glass to Vader. Even the fact that he knocked both of Starkiller's lightsabers away is proof that in a straight-up lightsaber duel, Starkiller is outmatched. 2. Vader was a nearly undisputed lightsaber duelist and he's killed MANY Jedi.

if you notice, vader's breathe's faster when he has low health

For some reason, I sometimes laugh at that scream at 16:33

***** The Starkiller in the first game actually had personality and developed quite well as a character. The second game completely threw that away. And did you read the book and comic of TFU? it didn't take one year of training for him to become that good. It took more then that cause Vader trained him since he was a kid. So that's a long time. And I think you fail to read the part in his wiki that says that it tells you that he had basic familiarity with the seven of forms of Lightsaber combat's strengths and weaknesses. Hence why he was able to use it against Vader and Shaak Ti's Form V, Djem-So and Form II, Makashi and defeat them in Lightsaber combat. And able to beat Palpatine? Lol no he didn't--- He was only able to contend with his Force abilities, even the Emperor said so himself. But he still fucking died. And if you even bother to read the book of Force Unleashed rather then just play the game. It not only does a better job at fleshing out Galen's character, but also you'd see that he isn't that OP as most people claim him to be. Hell even the book version of Force Unleashed 2 was better then the game despite how god awful it was cause even the Starkiller clone in book isn't OP and has no Force Fury like in the game.

Fans: you’ve taken everything from me!!!!! Disney: your feelings for episodes 1-6 are not real. Fans: they are real to ME!!!!!

See I could never understand why everyone is so surprised that Vader was "beaten" by Starkiller when in, Star Wars: Episode VI Return Of The Jedi, Luke beat him down with less than what Starkiller is dishing out. Statistically speaking, Starkiller is more adept with saber combat and force abilities, whilst Luke was more adept to the connection with the living force. That is why he beat him that badly. On top of all this, in the first game Vader sacrificed the Empire's resources to find the Rebel Alliance leaders and bases at any cost. If he did that the first time, you really think that he would get captured so easily now and without a fight? In my opinion this works and makes sense considering how powerful he is. So if this is cannon that would be awesome.

Actually both the authors and Starkiller's voice actor said Vader was merely toying with Starkiller, he wanted to be captured so he would be taken to the Rebel Base and then kill everyone there alongside Boba Fett... If TFU 3 wasn't cancelled, that's what would have happened.

Vader was nowhere near as strong here as he was in ROTJ, and force lightning is literally his weakness. It’s like someone beating superman on a planet with a red sun, because it doesn’t really mean they’re stronger. It shuts down his life support so he has to use the force to keep himself alive, meaning he can’t use as much of his power to fight. Also, he was weakened during ROTJ because of confliction. When a dark side user starts to get drawn back to the light, they are unable to access their full dark side power. Anakin was taking back control from vader because Luke was getting through to him.

Damn i get chills every time i see this scene. Sam is an amazing VA with a real love for star wars. Every "I'll kill you" "she was everything to me" is delivered with such ferocity and emotion! And this isn't even a cutscene! This is top tier SW content

Why did this game get such bad reviews? I thought it was awesome.

theone itself Yep, Vader hired Boba to capture Juno before this scene. The reason you never fight Boba is that they weren't sure how to make the duel different from the one against him in the DLC mission for the first game.

@@mikeb.379 Yet for some stupid reason the Endor dlc references the Hoth dlc from the first game. Ella says "After my brother fell on hoth..." It doesn't make sense because if that ending happened then this game would never exist.

the many men and women who conglomerated to make the ending score where Juno Is in fact alive....thank you for one of the best star wars games to date

After this, I broke free, killed General Kota, blew up Rogue II (with Galen, Juno, and PROXY in the ship), went to the Scariff system to kill a bunch of rebels, and the rest is a New Hope

The ending would have been so much better if all of his memories came back to him in a flash, he drops one of his lightsabers and the final action is with his old moves..

Guys stop crying over Vader losing this game isn't canon it's been confirmed

The first one was im not sure about the second and Disney also said if it's not movies or clone wars or rebels it's not canon so EU and games like TFU aren't canon anymore

Look, I'm not sure where you're getting this information, but it was never canon from the start. The creators explicitly said that this was a fantasy take on Star Wars. Considering the events of the game, it would be impossible for it to be canon anyway. That's why this was considered an alternate timeline. Because Luke isn't the padawan of Starkiller at the beginning of return of the Jedi, for instance. It's pretty cut and dry man, but if you'd like I can dig up a few links to where this has been officially stated. Or you could just google it.

I always feel the Star Wars universe was way too one sided. All we ever do is play games or watch movies from the point of view of the Rebels/Republic/Jedi and never the Empire. I'd love to see more Stormtroopers complaining about their job or so to show that they don't necessarily like their job or have no personality. Jedi Knight did that when you were "Stealthed"

original battlefront 2 had a whole campaign about republic becoming the empire and it even has ordinary soldier as a narrator for the story.

The fact that Starkiller is so powerful that they had to make 2 games of him kicking Vader ass is funny and awesome

Strange how Vader survived all that force lightning

Force Unleashed 1 and 2 are awesome. Starkiller is a badass. One of the best protagonists I've seen.

Can we talk about the exchange Starkiller and Vader have before Kota arrives? It’s so damn good.

The gameplay was so much better in Force Unleased 2, sadly they failed at everything else. The story was just terrible, half assed, and short. Starkiller wasn't so great Vader would clone him 8000 times and then when the best clone broke free he would spend his entire time trying to convince him to turn back. They would have been better if Vader just found another apprentice but then Vader killed him at the end because he realized none of these apprentices were worthy of his teaching.

Ryan McGuire They wouldn't have spent all this back story about him being a clone, if they developers didn't intend him to be a clone. But maybe you are correct and it was really Marek. Maybe if the story was developed better we would know. Oh well it all isn't canon anymore anyway.

+foorocker Your comment makes me wish that Vader was trying to revive the original Galen Marek secretly under the nose of the Emperor rather then be a clone. Because with Form IV, Ataru and Form VI, Niman from TFU2 implemented into his Form III, V, and VII, Soresu, Shien (the Sith Variant), and Juyo skill set combined with his calm and analytical methods from TFU1 rather then constantly being angst. Galen would no doubt be a deadly Lightsaber duelist and Force user that could potentially be on par with likes of Yoda, Luke, Revan, and such And with the clone thing being so inconsistent in FU2. I am glad it is no longer canon, but am also sad that FU1 is no longer canon.

This would make a pretty sick movie, also I remember playing this years back it was amazing

Seeing PROXY gave me nostalgia. I love that bot. I think he's SLIGHTLY better than C-3P0

+Newby Man GoW inspired much. But obviously hitting Vader once and the game ending would be a pretty short game.

Vader: "As long as she lives, I will always control you." Starkiller: "No, Vader. You control nothing. I'm not the slave. You are." Well, that's what I would have said if I was Starkiller. And I'm right. Vader is a badass, but I've got nothing but pity for him because he IS a slave to his own hatred. And the thing the hates more than anything else in the galaxy: himself.

Anyone who is wondering how Juno survived its because starkiller is the most powerful Jedi and used the force to revive her

Imagine how embarrassing for the emperor this would be when he has to pay the ransom to get Vader back. Ani's gonna get a talkin' to.

Everyone is making fun of starkillers scream but the truth is you’d sound the same way if the person you loved most died too

Although it was never officially confirmed, I had suspected that Vader getting massacred by the lightning at the end was the reason why we don't see him use his over-the-top Force powers anymore by the time the Original Trilogy comes along. Almost as though it severed his connection to The Force to a significant enough degree.
