Let me save you the time thinking about it, yes there will be expansions, it's FFG, every game they put out gets expansions. They are a "games as a service" board game company. Secondly, did you think they left Yoda and the emperor out on accident or because they were going to be included later?? Of course they are and that's what needs expanded on, That balance of the force track. It feels very tacked on so an expansion that will expand upon that mechanic would be very welcome

Great video! I keep seeing people say this is like Star Realms, which I can see, though that is all about faction combos and I don't see that here. Meanwhile, buying and attacking in the same row feels like Ascension to me. You attacking the cards I buy and vise versa is a clever evolution of that idea but the Ascension comparison was the first thing that came to my mind.

Thanks Joel for the detailed dig-up! I really wish we could get a Star Wars LCG 'cause the world needs more Star Wars (good) coop games, but maybe I'll grab this for solo play with the variant, you know, for days when I'm tired? The core is pretty reasonably priced, so that'll help.

I really like this game as i bought it without reading anything about it and it was a happy surprise. I read a review just before playing my first game to go to destroy 4 bases instead of 3 to you feel your engine work. That's what my wife and I do, and it really becomes intence in the end as one of us blows up the other's last base just before the other could do so on their next turn.

I preordered this sight-unseen (Star Wars...sorry, sue me haha) - and I've been loving it. Lots of fun, easy to explain and get to the table, and thematic "enough" for me.

I'm not sure this game offers enough new to be interesting. Definitely a try before I buy type of game. Wish it had a different theme.

For me, this game kinda fixes the lack of complexity I experience when playing Star Realms. SR is a fantastic game, but it always felt a little quick and swingy for me, the adjustments made really help turn this into a space with more meaty decisions, and more of a CCG type of experience. Great vid as always Joel, thanks!

I was looking forward to this and like it quite a bit, even though it's not something completely new and clever (I knew that before). However, it would have been more interesting, if the box had a bit more theme within Star Wars (like the Star Wars Love Letter game going for the scum-stuff or the expansions from the Star Wars LCG covering a certain battlefield like Hoth). As it is, it's just 'Star Wars - The Star Wars game where everything is the most generic Star Wars - here, have Luke, Han, Leia, Vader and Jabba'. Would be fun to get some more thematic expansions.

I know it's called 'Star Wars' so this format seems perfectly logical but I would love to see a small scale LotR LCG/Arkham horror LCG-styled version with a party with different decks and scenes/triggers. Very generic example: (1) 'Escaping from Cantina' (2) 'Making it to the ship' where you can end up drawing too many Stormtroopers and have to play cards to get through it then (3) breaking atmosphere to hyperjump whilst drawing cards which could be tie fighters etc.

How does it compare with Shards of Infinity? That's my go to DBG. I like that you pointed out that you can attack the center row of cards. That's my wife's biggest issue with Shards. It doesn't bother me as much, but I agree it'd be nice if there was a way to take out cards without having to buy them yourself.

Ya. I think you pointed out the big takeaway. I enjoy Shards, but I would notch this up slightly higher... maybe? Probably for sure with an expansion or two just to mix up the card pool.

Hey there I was watching your review of the star wars LCG you did about 7 years ago and was wondering which one you liked better?

Tough compare. They are two different thing entirely to me. The LCG though.

Some stores had them as a free promo on release day. I was lucky my store still had some.

Hi Joel. This seems at least a 50% like a re themed Star Realms. I'm beginning to get tired of this games that use popular franchises to make "easy cash grabbers".

@@KabukiKid Do you think it will do it better? I'm having a hard time judging how derivative this will feel.

Maybe derivative isn't the best choice of word, because while I do think it might feel like something I've played, I can see the attempt to add stuff. I can't tell if it'll add something better, or if I'll just prefer the more elegant version.

That’s not really applicable to deck builders, and I 100% believe they’ve done enough to differentiate it. Also, what’s wrong with grabbing some cash in the process?

@@mgk2020 I'll need to play it to truly have an idea. :-) I hope I will like it, though.
