Well he was engaged against by mainly vulture droids, Super Battle Droids and Commando Droids. They are more compwetant then the B1 Battle Droids and harder to take down. The only way it could have been worst is if it involved Droidikas.

@@Lsd911 First off. I believe Palpatine ordered Fox to kill Fives. Second off it was a quick reaction Fives pointed a gun at Fox he used his instincts and committed an act of self defense protecting him and his brothers. Also the stun setting is a lot slower than regular shots, so he could've risked getting shot. Nala Se is the real demon here she injected Fives with that drug making him look crazy. Also I've heard after Fives was shot Fox didnt gather around him like the other troops, instead he went outside and cried because he followed palpatines orders. Many of the Senate members would be dead without the Courscant guard. And you have to remember Fox is Palpatines commander. Fox wasnt assigned to a Jedi like many other clones. So his personality reflects that. Fox also had the balls to stand up to Anakin Skywalker. That's pretty badass imo.

Thorn is a legend. 1. Recognizes that he and his troops are totally exposed on the landing pad, orders them to move to a superior defensive position to better combat the invading droids. Some of the Coruscant Guard ships appear to be ordered to evacuate in order to regroup at a less exposed position (but are shot down). 2. Immediately informs Senator Amidala of the invading fleet, his situation (he can't get to her in time), and how she should act to escape before the droids capture her. All of this BEFORE the droids have even attacked/landed. 3. After being engaged, still tries to withdraw to the gates to defend before being cutoff - rather than immediately standing still to fight. 4. Thorn's mythical last stand. Seriously, what a way to go out. The only way he could've topped himself is if he lit off a thermal detonator before dying. This guy knew what he was doing, cared about his troops and his mission (to protect Senator Amidala), and ontop of making all the right calls fought a heroic last stand against overwhelming droid numbers. Thorn > Fox, every day of the week.

+DoctorGeigner I said storm trooper were mostly human but the legion that had clones in it was the 501 legion and that legion usually had lord Vader to help them.Plus they were mostly only deadly to enemy combatants when placed with many other storm troopers to overwhelm the enemy.

I have to say this is one of the most tactically competent attack I've seen by the droids. Cut out all routes for the clones to escape. Used their element of surprise to do so. Stopped the clones from scrambling and reaching new and better defensive positions. Finally they surrounded and engaged the clones in the open which is where the clones presence of mind and tactical ability is the most ineffective.

Here's a better comparison: Clone Armour: Protects against about 1 Blaster shot from the shitty B1 Blater Rifle. Stormtrooper Armour: Protects the Wearer from point-blank Thermal Detonator explosions capable of destroying TIE Fighters, Point-Blank shots from heavy Mandalorian Pistols, being hit in the face by a massive Lasat Honour Guard, being thrown from a fast-moving Speeder Bike, having said Fast-moving Speeder Bike slamming them in-between it and a wall, and more.

@@LucyWest370 their armor is actually pretty damn good, it's nigh impervious to Slugthrowers (which fire bullets), protects the trooper from extreme temperatures, shrapnel, explosions, and can even provide emergency oxygen for up to 30 minutes.

He didn’t run out; the droids simply got close enough that he resorted to smacking them with his Z-6, and after he gets shot after gunning down that last B2, it still fires from his grip on it.

Odds are they had no visual on the gunships until the air forces cleared the skies for the gunships to land, so they did what they could against what they had. Taking out the largest threat with your best weapon when you are trying to disengage does come off to me as logical, at the very least.

stormtroopers where actually very good at fighting , it's a myth when they say that they can't shoot anything. Still the clones were way much better than stormtroopers,or at least most of them ( becuse some stormtroopers where actually clones, like the 501 legion)

this was literally an arc troopers last stand from the 2003 Series. sadly no jedi came to save this Absolute Chad of a trooper. rest in peace Thorn.

Thorn: Calls Palme to warn of the invasion, before having to fight, taking 5 shots, most at close range, before going down, and ultimately severely damaging or destroying most droids, while also retaining good tactics and not the, let’s just charge and shoot attitude.

Fun fact: Thorn is made as a reference to Marvel's Thor. Given how his name, the wings on his helmet, and the weapon he is using called "The Hammer" are all referred to Thor.

Well actually no this was at the beginning of the phase 2 clone era therefore fox would be in for 1 year as a replacement for thorn so this is 1 year from order 66

Just to make the scene better, that classic “The Droids are invading” soundtrack starts playing to let you know that sh*t’s goin down.

This guy was so badass. Honestly though if i were him after that first shot to the shoulder i would've fallen down and pretended to be dead, the droids would've left him alone then he gets back up and does what he can

Yes for sure! clones are well, clones of one of the greatest Jedi Killers in all of star wars history (if you go by legends). So some of them, logically speaking, who were trained better (like the arcs, commandos, and leadership clones) could definitely rival lesser Jedi. They have the genetic template and predisposition to be as good as Fett. They just have to have the drive, training, and situation for it to manifest.

Hasbro, if you're reading this: Please make a Commander Thorn Black Series 6 inch figurine in memory of him. Seriously one of the best clones in the entire series and he only had few scenes on the show

I love stuff like this, a random clone you’ve never met before this episode becomes a hero and you actually feel something when he dies. That’s why the Clone Wars was a excellent show all around, especially in fleshing out characters

I love how thorn went out. Though, I love how the droids killed him. Instead, of just gunning him down, they shot him one at a time. Then, killed him execution style. Oooof

Come on, man. He was already dead. Thorn was already dead, and the droids stared at the corpse. That's one of the first things you learn growing up: it's that it is impolite to stare.

To this day I still hold a tremendous amount of respect for Thorn because of this single scene. To be able to stand your ground (even for a short amount of time) even tho you know your fighting a losing battle and die fighting. I wish we could of seen more of him ;-; Gone too soon

This is what makes clone wars so great. We feel strong connections with these characters even if we only see them in a few episodes.

This scene alone redeemed the coruscant guard

This should be a highlight for battlefront 2. This man got 15 kills in about 20 sec (with some being melee)

That's what I was thinking, but you can see one of them apparently about to use it before it cuts away. Maybe they did and there were too many droids already pushing forward that it didn't make a difference. Either that or they were just gunned down before they could fire.
