@@ChaptermasterPedroKantor-kv5yw Part of the problem with Lucas is that he didn't appreciate what he had created. He allowed the brand to be watered down by the various novels by different writers. He kept passing off the responsibility to others until he helped to place Kennedy in charge and sold Star Wars to Disney. This was completely different than how J. K. Rowling kept control of Harry Potter so its world and characters were held true to form.

Disney is determined to make sure their Star Wars isn't canon for the fans.

@@benjaminthibieroz4155 It is and it isn't. In classic conceptualization the dark side is just doing whatever you want with the force. Letting your emotions and whims control you. It's powerful, sure, but costly and not to mention pretty bad for society and not being an asshole. The light side is the force in balance. You're in tune with the universe, you're where you should be doing what you should do. They aren't a yin/yang thing where opposing forces are arranged against each other but no moral judgements are really made on which is 'better' and either a yang or a yin attribute could be better given differing circumstances. A basic example would be yang is aggression, standing your ground, yin is yielding, changing. On one level if you never stick to your convictions you'll never get anything done, but the flipside of that is being stubborn and bullheaded, unwilling to ever change from a course even if it's bad. If you change to everything then you will never get anything you want done, but also on the flipside sometimes you do need to change. But that's not Star Wars. The Dark Side would be being both cowardly and shifting with the winds as well as being stubborn to the point of self-destruction and mindlessly aggressive. The Light Side would be standing firm when you need to and changing when you need to, having the wisdom to know when to do what. To say there are positives on the Dark Side is to entirely miss the point of what it is, to claim anything done with the Dark Side is good is definitionally wrong, it can only ever be selfish.

As someone who fell head over heels in love with Star Wars after seeing "A New Hope" in theaters during opening week, I can tell you that KK has completely and utterly destroyed Star Wars for me. The only Disney Star Wars products I've sort of enjoyed were "Rouge One" (totally) and "The Mandalorian" (mostly). So sad.

@@superomegaprimemk2 If they cannot sell it for what they paid for it, it will look really bad to sell a supposedly flagship IP for nickels and dimes. It also will not get them the massive cash influx that they need. So just for those 2 reasons alone they will not sell it. And that's excluding the fact how deeply SW has been integrated into Disney and the parks in particular. Any sale would have to recoup their original investment and that of retooling the parks as well.

People forget just how awful the prequels really are, they only remember the memes and the handful of scenes worth rewatching. Without the disney trash as a benchmark for comparison they really are not good movies.

@@demomanchaos In all honesty. I grew up with the Prequels. I was never around when the original trilogy released. So, I could say I am bias. Yet, we can all agree the difference between the Prequel and even the Original had in common. All six movies were directed by LUCAS. ONE GUY. Meanwhile, the Disney Trilogies. Different directors. Even with two having the same director, it does not change the fact that having different directors. It does not work out. And I am waving my hand dismissing the spin off movies. Cause those are hit or miss...mostly misses. The Prequels may not be great. All because everyone already knows what will happen. Yet, really over all, compared to Disney's Trilogy. Prequels are not terrible. Hell, the Original Trilogy wasn't that great. There were so many mistakes left in the film and oversights. Like the comical stormtrooper smacking his head on the door or the fact the lightsabers were casting a shadow. Just a naming a couple.

@@Qardo The prequel problem isn't the story is known, but because no one was willing to tell that hack Lucas no. Star Wars was saved in editing and by people telling George his ideas were dumb (Mark Hamil has a tale where he fought tooth and nail to get some horrid dialogue dropped, and luckily managed to just barely get it cut). He has some decent ideas, but a lot of horrible ones and he needed people filtering out the stupid ones. In the prequels he didn't have that, and it shows. Why do people prattle about the "mistake" of the Trooper bonking his head? They dubbed in that sound effect for the bonk, so while the bonk wasn't part of the script they ran with it because not only is it hilarious but helps humanize the Troopers. I really wish we had more of it, like a Cops/Live PD style show but with Stormtroopers dealing with locals and their petty bullcrap (I love the "Troops" skit that pre-dates YT that was that premise). In the original movie they were genuinely badasses (They let Han/Leia/Luke escape to track them to the rebel base), and the Empire a genuinely dangerous threat. The clankers in the prequels had their moments of comedy but were also shown to be potentially dangerous (A single one not so much but the unending swarm could get things done). Can't say the same about any of the disney villains.

For me, Star Wars ended perfectly in 1983 with Return of the Jedi. If you never look past that point, you’ll never be disappointed.

I've been saying it since Last Jedi, Star Wars and Disney Star Wars are two completely different things. Star Wars died when George sold it to Disney.

To be fair, Clone Wars had already introduced beings that were supposed to be manifestations of the Force - Father (The Force), Daughter (Light Side), and Son (Dark Side). I don't know if Acolyte plans have anything to do with them. Nor do I care - when Disney fired Gina Carano, they demonstrated that they only care about their ideology and not the actual story and its quality.

It's become pretty clear to me over the years, with Iger's book and various interviews, that Lucas put Kennedy in charge of Lucasfilm because he was assuming he'd be able to get creative control, or at least some kind of significant creative input into what Disney was doing with Star Wars rather than have Iger stab him in the back and just let Kennedy do apparently whatever the hell she wanted.

people say it got fucked up by the midichlorians. but then the clone wars sorta, revived the concept and make it work by making it that the midichlorians are in fact puerly supernatural in nature and origin. a medium. just one that can be identified scientifically.

Why does Disney continue down this path of self-destruction? They’re not profiting off these projects, more and more of the audience is leaving by the day, and there’s no way Vangard and Black Rock are able to constantly finance these disasters forever. Why do they keep going?

Let's be fair to Lucas. He's not known for his people skills, so Kennedy easily fooled him into thinking she was more competent than she was. And Bob Iger did bully him into releasing his baby to them.

Anyone continuing to watch Star Wars at this point is getting exactly what they deserve.

The force mating and producing "baby forces" honestly doesn't sound too different from the ideas George Lucas himself had for the sequels, dood. It's a blessing in disguise for him that Kennedy dismissed his ideas so people can still cling to the illusion that the man knew what he was doing.

they were......... well it be a lie to say great movies but they were at least coherent enough, especiallycompared to the sequels. the issue was execution and direction. 'in my point of view the jedi are evil'. had too much 'explaining emotions' vs emoting. and weird lines. "The chancellor is sith, pure evil!" "The jedi have torn the galaxy apart in this war, they are corrupt! If i choose evil i will choose the lesser one!" "then you are lost!!!"

Will the backlash to this be "bigger" than the Last Jedi? No. Because 80% of the people who cared about Star Wars back when the Last Jedi came out (even the Reylos) don't care about Star Wars enough anymore to "backlash" against "Acolyte".
