Star Wars Room Decor | Light Switch Cover

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Today we are adding some Star Wars Room Decor by adding a themed light switch. I often find that when starting or working on a large project you need to start small and get an early win. Something that you can complete quickly and get an early win. This project is all about that!

For years I had always wanted to build a Tusken Gaffi stick just for display. I was always stopped at the bulbous end as I couldn't wrap my head around anything short of hand carving it. I wanted it to look good, after all. The project got moved to the back burner many times and eventually it got moved off the stove. At the end of last year I bought myself a wood lathe. I made a bunch of small do-dads. Then last week, I seen Boba Fett kicking butts with a gaffi stick. Without shame, I was totally inspired to finally create my own using the lathe I just got. Once I made that bulb, everything just fell into place using scraps and junk from work and around the house. As of last night, it is all put together and waiting for paint and weathering. I was in a creative funk until last week and now this video pops up. It has really got my creativity in high gear. Thanks for what you do!

I'm a first responder and have spent the past month working straight. I've spent the past year putting my new hobby room off after having moved into my current place. I have to finish the room from scratch studding etc.... I love creation and modelling and I'm a professional miniature painter. My studio is Plastic Krack Miniatures. During this past month I've watched nerd video after nerd video and just discovered this channel and video. Of all the videos I've watched this was the video to snap my rut. You have energized me, motivated me just from the passion and enthusiasm you speak about. I'm commenting because i feared this rut would not stop possibly from depression and the tolls my job has run me through. I sincerely thank you. Its time to get my room underway, of course with stars wars universe panels switches, light switches and more. Thanks Brian.

Thank you so much Nick. More importantly, thank you for what you do. During these last two years the first responders have worked so hard for so many. I’m sure it has many moments that go thankless, so thank you for doing what you do. I’m thrilled that we could have any part in getting you out of your rut. I hope we can keep doing that for you. Be safe and keep making!

Now I've finished racking up the puns, may I say.. top video sir!!!

I like that statement. about getting overwhelmed. I seem to live there. You have inspired me on my basement gameroom renovation. I am basically doing the entire thing myself. So, looking at the big picture, I am totally overwhelmed. However, taking only one piece at a time, I am making progress. I have installed a heating duct, made game shelves, made a game console area, and am working on some more shelving. I am building knowledge and skills, and, even though I stink at greeblies, I am attempting it. Hopefully they get better as I go. But again, one piece at a time. That makes it doable. Thank you for your continued inspiration.

In terms of the project itself.... I won't lie, its...okay. I'm not too excited by a light switch cover. But... as for your philosophy, your attention to creative and emotional health, your respect for the need to actually nurture and grow the creative process... I needed this today. I needed it for an hundred different reasons, and some of them are the same reasons that I needed to hear Mr. Rodgers when I was 8, or Bob Ross when I was 14. Sometimes its not about the creation, its about the creator who needs to remember that they are part of the project every bit as much as the object in their hands. Well done, and thank you for today's meditation.

I totally agree with bite sized projects to get a much needed win. I think this year, I'm going to slightly change focus after realizing that the prop and cosplay communities are super saturated and hard to make any headroom in. I'm gonna focus on what I do best, casual cosplay for everyday wear. I'm so stoked for it. For years now I have been folding in styles from a galaxy far far away into my everyday wardrobe and I think it time to share my in universe life with the world. 🙃

What a challenge to toss out there at us! As an artist, I’m continually doing just that. Making something from nothing. But I have never done anything Star Wars related, because I’ve not had a place to show off that kind of work. The past year though, watching the Smugglers Room, I have been inspired! Ides flowing in and out of my brain! I hope that this year I actually pull off a Star Wars project that will impress me as well as anyone who sees it! I’m so glad you are back, and glad you took time off to enjoy something different for a change! Can’t wait for this year’s ideas and projects where you make something out of nothing!

Wax poetry….sorry, I got nothing. It’s so nice to have you back in the shop. I love the colors of this simple switch. The switches themselves are pretty cool too. Though those alien screw heads look really strange. ‘Do something, this year, that scares you’. I just recently bought myself a scroll saw for one specific project. You might remember the pro type fan duct I made some months ago for my 3D printer (out of plywood). Well, since I’ve gotten the geometry worked out, I now want to make it out of aluminum. There’s no way I can afford a CNC mill. I can’t afford to contract someone to mill it for me. Also can’t justify spending $$$$$ to have it made. It’s been a lot of years since I’ve used a scroll saw, and I don’t remember ever cutting metal with it. So, it’s waiting for me to build up the initiative to plug it in and turn it on. That’s one of my next projects.

Giving me a little kick in the rear end to get me started to do something (useful)? Thank you, this is really helpful. But on the other hand. Longtime Project engineer here. If you have a huge Project and don't even know how to start it. Sit down with your customer and your development team and define the project by tearing it in little sub-projects. Go on with this procedure on smaller and smaller scales as far as you think is necessary to unfold all the dificulties (don't worry about upcoming dificulties you don't even know about in the beginning). You can go through this tear down process even within the project as often as you need. Make clear and realistic time frames to realise each sub-project. The overall Time frame evolves from all the tiny bits and pieces of the sub-projects. If you run into schedule issues (which is totally normal in every project) you might have to adapt the amount of work that has to be put into each step ot the project. Maybe if it's not possible to shorten the amount of work, you may have to scratch parts of the project or delay it to make progress on more important pieces. With all that written, the most important thing on finishing projects: Have fun doing it!

@@TheSmugglersRoom getting confidence for a huge project is really valuable. But I've done the mistake many, many times to see only the small and understandable parts of a project and not the whole thing. I've ran out of time for finishing everything in a coordinated way. This left the customer mad, my colleagues and in the end myself.

Started a cosplay build last night - Endor rebel commando. Involves a lot of things I've never done before - dying and weathering fabric. Sewing wearables, including several highly visible quilted sections and snaps. Making foam pouches. EVA foam props. And the most complicated 3D printed prop I've ever made. The dying didn't quite turn out the way I had expected... the 'tan' shirt looks decidedly pink, and the khaki canvas for the rest of the the outfit is splotchy and a bit too light (I think it'll work out, though... pre-weathered? :D ) The process doesn't scare me (Dunning-Krueger to the rescue!) but the deadline of Phx ComicCon does! And so do Jo-Ann's fabric prices!

I enjoy your projects. They help me get ideas. My upcoming big project is a Dungeons & Dragons gaming space. I want to use a projected image on a wall or ceiling for atmospheric effect, sound effects a DM can use or there assistant and finally music 🎶. This is to help with focus during long combat or narrative moments. D&D is like a video games combat but slowed down a thousand times so it can get long and mentally tiresome and effects help keep the action moving. Besides all the usual fantasy themed decor one would want in a game room. I already restored a vintage dinner table that looks lush. 😄 I just need to build the space. We haven’t tried the Star Wars RPG yet but one could do that as well. It would be really cool to see a Star Wars RPG gaming room.

I was working on converting an enclosed cargo trailer into my personal space ship (yes my name is rlly will robinson). well I too took a break and put the project off until just a couple days ago. so here I was returning to your channel for inspiration and just this morning I was beginning to plan light switch designs when you too return and upload the perfect video I need at the perfect time! Great video! I'm ready to get off my butt and make some things for my home office, and the first thing I wanted to try was a light switch, so the timing and motivation of this video is perfect! And your brain wants more of that feel-good chemical, I guess.) :)
