Star Wars REVEALS Why Dooku Left the Jedi Order NEW CANON STORY EXPLAINED

Count Dooku is one of the coolest and most underrated characters in Star Wars. Trained by Master Yoda, and Master to Qui-Gon Jinn who taught Obi-Wan Kenobi, to teach Anakin Skywalker...he's kind of like Anakin's great grandfather so to speak. But that's not why I think he's awesome. He was just so different than the bland and dry Jedi who acted like robots. He felt the Jedi should adhere to the force, not the politics of the republic.

I think Count Dooku becoming a Sith is the most tragic story about a Jedi turning to the dark side. Anakin and Dooku had many similarities and faced similar struggles against the Jedi Order and were manipulated by Darth Sidious in the same ways. Anakin was able to redeem himself and restore balance to the force by sacrificing himself to kill Darth Sidious and save his son. He was also able to end Palpatine and the Sith cult a second and final time when he gave Rey his power through the force. Dooku was unceremoniously decapitated in a cave by his master’s order and then replaced as Darth Sidious’ apprentice by the man who killed him. Anakin fell to the Dark Side too but lives on as part of the force and a servant of The Light, while Dooku failed to live up to his potential as a Jedi, also fell under control of the Dark Side but tragically died a villain’s death and is gone forever.

who cares the jedi seem like extremists who enforce inhumane and abrupt virtues with manipulative tactics to garner elitist positions that is a disservice to society due to their carelessness and disattachment to I don't know common sense? it irks me that dooku who had no right to even talk to his sister, or see to his family members because it is "not the jedi way" is viewed as 'tragic' because red lightsaber and dark side means bad.

Dooku was a very reasonable guy. He was always implying his ideas of making the jedi order stronger. And he had a point of the jedi relying on a corrupted senate to make the decisions. He went solo in a way because he didn’t like the way the jedi does things. When Obi Wan was held in captivity in Geonosis EP2. I remember Dooku giving Obi a warning saying “What if I told you there is a sith lord working on the inside of the senate plotting to destroy the jedi?” but Obi Wan didn’t listen. This goes to show you how honest and forward that Dooku is. Its unfortunate that his life was cut short on his head.

I have a theory about Mace Windu, during the fight between him and the senate. He thought that he, and not Anakin was the chosen one. But if 4 jedi killed the last sith, he would not have been "the chosen one", just one of multiple jedi that did this. If you look at the start of the fight, he backs of, letting Kolar and Tiin die. He could have easily blocked the strike towards Kolar, and then also break the flow of Palpatine. But he choses to step back instead, so after the death of Kolar and Tiin, Fisto is the one that is the closest to Palpatine, and Mace simply blocks the attacks of Palpatine instead of beeing agressive. I think that he thought that he could beat Palpatine alone, and simply used them as proof that Palpatine was a sith lord, so he could be the one that saved the galaxy.

Except there's a couple things we with your statement 1) the Bendu was even less attached than any Jedi could ever hope to be, even preferring to live in deeper isolation with no allies or enemies, just himself and his thoughts for company on a practically empty world. The sith also preached non-attatchment if TFU2, the Bane trilogy and SWTOR (Legends) and the canon comics, and TFA are anything to go by. And 2) Bhuddism (which the Jedi philosophy was based on according to George Lucas himself, so this comparison applies regardless of continuity) strongly disagrees with your belief an non-attachment and has a long list of reasons (and most of them being very accurate) as to why it disagrees.

Here is another fun fact - In a deleted extended scene from _Attack of the Clones_ when Obi Wan Kenobi was in the Jedi Archives searching for Kamino, he was looking at the bust of Count Dooku and discussed with the librarian Jocasta Nu on why he quit the Jedi Order. She mentioned that one Knight had said that Dooku was very Out-Of-Step with the decisions of the Council as he was an idealist. In her conclusion she believed the real reason why Dooku left the Jedi Order was because he lost faith in the Republic.

I loved listening to Dooku: Jedi Lost when it came out, but by the time I finished, there were a few problems I had with it. I think because mainly - it puts Dooku's corruption before he is even contacted by Darth Sidious. I find the idea that he was corrupted by his attachment to Jenza and by an ancient beast on Serreno far less compelling that after leaving the jedi to try and make the galaxy a better place, and forming the CIS movement, that he played along with Sidious to try and move things in his own direction for a while - but then being corrupted by the dark side, and in time only Sidious' pawn. In this version - it suggests that the Separatists were probably a sith plot from the start, rather than something SIdious took advantage of (which seems more his way). By the end of Jedi Lost, you are left in no doubt of how evil Dooku is - when the whole point is that Dooku is so beloved by many fans - because he's complicated. I don't think we wanted an origin story for grey, nasty, simply Clone Wars Dooku - I think we wanted one to really engage with the complexities we first saw in AOTC.

  • @morsecode980

Here’s my fan-fiction of that if you wish to read it. NOTE: It of course is long. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker arrive in the observation platform at the top of the Invisible Hand where Chancellor Palpatine is being held. Kenobi: “Chancellor.” Anakin: “Are you alright?” Palpatine looks behind them worriedly. Palpatine: “General Grievous.” The Jedi turn to see none other than Grievous himself walking into the room from the upper balcony, escorted by 2 MagnaGuards. Anakin: “So that’s Grievous, huh? He’s shorter than I expected.” Kenobi: “He is very dangerous, Anakin. We have to do this together.” Anakin: “I was about to say that.” Grievous does a flip over the balcony onto the floor below, landing with a hard thud. His MagnaGuards follow behind him. Palpatine: “Get help, you’re no match for him, he’s a Jedi hunter!” Kenobi turns to Palpatine. Kenobi: “Chancellor Palpatine, with all due respect, he is more machine than alive. And Separatist Droids are our speciality.” He turns back around. Grievous: “Ah yes, the negotiator! General Kenobi, we’ve been waiting for you! And,” *coughs* “Anakin Skywalker! I was expecting someone with your reputation to be a little...older.” Kenobi: “You won’t get away this time, Grievous.” He and Anakin ignite their lightsabers. In response, the MagnaGuards activate their Staffs and step in front of Grievous. Grievous: *laughs* “You’ve always been a bold one, Kenobi.” “Kill them.” He says to his Guards. Anakin and Kenobi engage the MagnaGuards. After a brief skirmish, the guards are destroyed. Anakin: “My first impression is that you’re a coward, General. Quit hiding behind your minions and face us.” He takes an offensive fighting stance. Grievous: *laughs* *coughs* “So be it.” He detaches his cloak and pulls out his sabers, the cloak falling to the floor as he extends all 4 arms. Grievous ignites all 4 lightsabers one at a time, then gets into position himself. Grievous: “Attack, ‘Chosen One!’” Anakin smirks: “It would be my pleasure.” Kenobi: “Anakin, don’t. He’s incredibly danger-” Before he can finish, Anakin takes off. Palpatine smiles at this. Kenobi: “No Anakin, no! Stop!” Anakin and Grievous begin dueling, but Anakin is quickly overwhelmed by the number of strikes Grievous can land per second. He tries to back off, but Grievous uses a foot to grab him and throw him into the wall near the stairs. Grievous laughs as he does this. Kenobi jumps in and tries to hit Grievous from behind, but Grievous blocks it, turning around and attacking Kenobi - just as Kenobi hoped for. Fighting defensively, Kenobi leads Grievous up the stairs to the balcony while Anakin recuperates and gets up. Anakin then jumps up to the balcony, and both he and Kenobi Attack Grievous, who has no problem blocking both of their attacks. At one point, both Jedi lock sabers with Grievous. Grievous kicks Anakin away with one foot, and uses the other to grab and throw Kenobi off the balcony. Kenobi slams into the same point he does in OTL, and is knocked out. Grievous then turns to Anakin, still laying on the floor, and encroaches on him with all 4 sabers aimed at him. Grievous: *laughs* “Your lightsaber will be the highest trophy of my collection, Skywalker!” Using quick thinking, Anakin does a Force Push on Grievous, sending him flying off the balcony as well. Anakin then gets up, vaults off the balcony, and lands in front of Grievous while doing a downward strike with his lightsaber. Grievous blocks it just in time as he gets up. Grievous: “You fight aggressively, young Skywalker. Temper, temper, you know where anger leads!” *laughs* Angered, Anakin shoves Grievous away and begins striking faster and more aggressively. Palpatine again smiles at this. It’s still no problem for Grievous, who spins his lightsabers rapidly to both defend and attack. The whole time, Grievous is only using his upper arms to defend himself. He knows full well he could strike Anakin from below and end it all right then, but per Sidious’s orders, Grievous is only to toy with Anakin, measure his strength. Eventually, though, Grievous has enough. Grievous uses his lower-righthand saber to slash Anakin’s waist. Screaming in pain briefly, Anakin falls to the floor, clutching his wound. Standing over him, Grievous raises a saber over his head and begins spinning it rapidly. Grievous: “This is where you shall meet your end, Skywalker! And when I’m done with you, I’ll bring down the rest of the Jedi Order, the Republic, and all its Senators! No one will be safe! Not Palpatine, not Jar Jar Binks, not Padmé, no one! They will all die!” Upon hearing Grievous speak of Padmé, Anakin becomes furious, and does a Force Choke on Grievous’s fragile lungs while breathing heavily (imagine the version of Imperial March that is heard when Vader duels Luke in ESB on Bespin starts playing at this moment.) Grievous is levitated into the air, choking and coughing as he struggles to breathe. Palpatine is practically giddy at seeing Anakin’s anger come out like this, but he of course keeps it secret, mostly. Anakin: “Don’t you EVER threaten Senator Amidala!” Palpatine: “Good, Anakin, good!” *laughs* “Go on, kill him! Kill him now!” Anakin snaps out of his anger, and lets Grievous go, who drops to the floor wheezing and coughing. Anakin: “Uh, no...no, no, I shouldn’t. I-I’m sorry, I acted out.” Palpatine gets a little pissed. Palpatine: “You have him right where you want! He’s too dangerous to be left alive! You heard him say himself he plans to kill all of us, including the Senators! Do it!” Anakin looks to Palpatine. As he does so, Grievous looks at Anakin. Grievous: *coughs* “You are unwise to lower your DEFENSES!” Grievous grabs Anakin with his foot again and throws him at where Obi-Wan is still lying unconscious. Grievous then releases Palpatine and grabs him, slinging him over his shoulder in a fireman’s carry. Grievous: “Come with me, Chancellor. We’re going on a detour!” *laughs* Palpatine: “Unhand me, you beast!” Grievous hauls Palpatine on his shoulder as he jumps up to the balcony. Palpatine: “Put me down this instant! I am the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, and I will not be bullied by - OW!” His head bonks into the roof of the doorway as Grievous hauls him away. Anakin, meanwhile, shakes Kenobi awake. Anakin: “Master, Master, wake up! Grievous has the Chancellor! We need to move!” Kenobi wakes up, stuttering and blurry-eyed. Kenobi: “Did I miss something?” Anakin pulls him up as they both rush out of the room. I’ll end it there. If you want more, lmk. 😂

I guess it could start off with Palpatine dying on Grievous's ship instead, and maybe Dooku pushing Anakin to the Dark Side (or maybe choosing to push Obi-Wan instead). Then dealing with how the Empire and the fight would the Rebellion would have been different.

5:13 with that rationale in mind, Yoda and the council would've helped Anakin and Padme. And I think that Anakin would've been more open to confiding in either Obi-Wan or Yoda if the chancellor had not gotten into his head with seeds of doubt and distrust to reinforce the need to keep everything secret. The fact the potential for a peaceful resolution to this dilemma existed makes Anakin's choices more tragic. But I have to wonder that if the compromise was being cast out of the Jedi order would Anakin have turned anyway out of spite? Would his own need for power been stronger than the love for his wife and family?

Dooku WAS a true Sith. His character is supposed to be someone who is very independent and finds his own ways of doing things, even with the force stuff. So, his version of a Sith will always look different because his style can't be copied or duplicated. He isn't only elegant but he is one of those bad guys who have some honor when fighting or expressing themselves. Therefore, he is so unique that he doesn't look like the typical sith and the yellow eyes don't mean anything because they activate when you are letting extreme ANGER control you. They are not Sith eyes but dark side eyes and they are more of a property than a power boost. Therefore Dooku was a special channeller of the force which is admirable because he used the DS smarter than most regular sith or ds users. I think we just needed a clone wars live action movie so we could see more of his Sith identity. Dooku is actually someone who could've reformed a Sith order or bring back the Sith empire because unlike Palpatine, Dooku wanted to keep improving the Sith. Palpatine wanted everything for himself, so, ironically, Dooku would've reformed the Sith if he was the emperor. In order to understand characters like Dooku you have to see much deeper in case you are only seeing what the movies showed. His backstory is what makes him a Sith lord
