You seated the Luke figure incorrectly. The figure is supposed to be positioned with his back resting against the "seat" of the chair (which is actually the back of the chair). The chair is positioned vertically.

As a kid it used to really annoy me I couldn't get Han and Chewie in the cockpit with the top closed. The problem with all the features is that they were recycled from the old Kenner mold that was scaled to the vintage figures.

While you can admire the photo-likeness and hyper articulation of the modern figures, the appeal of the older figures (including the hulked up power of the force) certainly to people of my age is that literal connection to those awestruck moments of youth. This goes for the vehicles as well. Yes the stunning legacy Falcon is "superior" in everyway to both this one and the original Kenner release, but Id rather have either of the original two models for that palpable (not Palpatine) link to the past. Excellent review as always Erin, continuing to make things brighter in these strange times. Thank you.

I have the 2004 OTC version of the mold, and yes, the engines on the back being functional with lights and sounds is its best feature, but at the cost of some space on the playset for the figures, that's the only bad thing, but anyway, the engines look very cool. Excellent review as always! 👍

Well done! Couple things to add. You mentioned the dish not sitting up. Just raise the dish up and put the little nubs up into the top of the triangle frame. Use a tiny muscle. And there is an incredible YT video of a landing gear tab fix using a $1.50 pencil eraser cut to fit your sagging rear-end. Did it on mine. Works perfect! Somebody needs to make good articulating figures that fit more usefully. Most your video was very nice. Love mine!

Interesting that the tried to make the cardboard insert for the main area look a bit more like the Falcon interior seen in the film, with an image of the corridor leading to the cockpit, though what the widow behind the gunner station is meant to be I’m not sure. Looks like it didn’t come with the training remote that the original did? On the original the battery compartment had a button to activate the sounds, is the battery section still in the same place, it looks like the actual ‘button’ is just grey plastic now

Probably this mold would fit better the 1977 figures since it's a modified reprint of the original toy. And my copy of this toy has the same issues. And, and, I actually used the front landing gear as a handle to hold it and "fly" it back in the day.

I just recently got this ship yesterday for early Christmas. It's not the same as the potf one but it's from 2004 with the lights & sounds. I really like this toy. It's huge it's giant & I don't think I want to go any giant than that with the legacy one oh heck no. Not for 500$ dollars this mold does it enough for me. I'm happy with it. Something I don't understand about it is the size. When I watch videos about it it looks small from the camera but in reality it's big. I look at it compared to us humans tall ones & don't understand how they don't see what I see. Tall but the toy is small. Compared to them. How does that work? Either I'm short & the toy is bigger than me or something is off with gravity & size. A growth spurt probably.

Congrats on the pickup! Perception/Memory might be part of the issue on the size. Many of the older collectors that were kids holding the vehicle originally I’m sure felt bigger in their hands....now not so much. Also after having bigger vehicles released it probably doesn’t help as much.

Right I see your point taken. Nah I'm fine with the original mold; the more recent releases of this ship are just too big & expensive to buy. All while Hasbro just does that so they can get more money out of people who can afford it. Honestly I was lucky to get this ship complete & everything on eBay for a counterbid of 58.00$ + 35. Cents something n shipping for almost a hundred dollars. Michael from retroblasting was right about them. It's just because of more accuracy & details implemented to want consumers to buy it but I'm not foolish enough to want their giant oversized ship when the original is already big enough for me. I'm a pre-adult in his senior year of highschool & I shouldn't be this exactly short. But it's because of my addiction to coffee so you know.

I see it very differently. If I take away my bias (I had this line as a kid), I guess I could say the Force Awakens one is more durable, and they did an excellent job with that backdrop wall! My favorite one seen out of any Falcon! TFA also had a very nice control deck interior that fit both characters, to put this one here to much shame. Neither Falcon had a very solid feel, would be my other critique of this one. Force Awakens one just felt mushy because of that softer plastic, which is not bad for vehicles you don't have to grip and balance together like an oversized sandwich. And this one used the sturdy plastic, but in the back it was too thin and unsecured to whoosh around with. But this is still my favorite Falcon for all the points Erin lays out and for all the things it got right that the other ones simply don't. What I don't like about Force Awakens Falcon is that it seems too squatty for the characters to ever believably stand up in. The glass window is more durable, but the design and lack of tint ruins that smooth look it once had. I feel like every Falcon with lack of weathering is just missing something major. The design of TFA Falcon was all off; the side panels were so flat and smooth it didn't even Look like the Falcon. It was all straight cords in front that looked real bad and blinded you from noticing any of the real features of the ship. Looks like Disney wanted to severely cut back on design costs, and went unforgivably too far on all its extremities: The bulk height, the mandables, even the cockpit looks stubby to compensate for this or try to hide it. The red style on the interior is also a pathetic move. It tells you they had something against the look of the original. The stairs feature was an interesting concept, but it doesn't work; it changes the whole shape of the ship in a disorienting manner. Speaking of changing the ship in a disorienting manner, those missle features are for the birds, no argument to be made there. :]

I have a potf falcon. Around 10years ago I bought it minus canopy for £25 off ebay as these were considered inferior to vintage. I bought a vintage canopy for about £10, and it's my pride of the fleet I have.......🤗 I gave up collecting a few years ago, just after Disney took over, and in my view, cheapened the franchise. The older stuff seems betters in a playable way 👍🏻
