These cutscenes were the closest we got to having Expanded Universe films. Also, pretty impressive that they used a blend of CGI characters and backgrounds with actors even before the prequels did!

It still amazes me how good the level design was in all of the dark forces jedi knight games.

I remember my father bought me this game when I was 6 or so. Didn't have the cognitive ability to realize what was going on or get past the first level. Haha. I think I got about as far as the moving tram. Dad must've secretly bought this for himself.

Doesn't sound odd to me at all. I thought the cutscenes were well done and added a nice atmosphere to this game. Really felt like a movie you are taking a role in so to speak, I guess. :) And Jerec was a wonderful villain...his evil laugh is pretty good. :D

I'd say Kyle Katarn is Chaotic Good. He's a good guy, but he'll do what he has to by any means necessary. He may be a Jedi, but he's also got more personality and attitude to him. Like Han Solo.

Nah, Jedi Outcast was the game, the only thing DF2 still has going for it is the cutscenes, Jedi Academy further improves the gameplay and mod capabilities but has a shitty story and characters.

I remember this game! Such a pleasant surprise, when I bought this one. Really good graphics for its time, and such an immersive environment. I really like the portrayal of dark Jedi here....prior to the Prequels....where they used differently colored lightsabers and had a variety of powers. Gives them a bit more character.

This game had so much I love about it - the atmosphere, the plot, the enemies, the locations, the colors, the music and of course - the sounds. I really like the way light is turned on/off or bacta tank is used.

The most badass intro to a game ever

I'm not much of a StarWars fan, but this game is SO nostalgic to me. Had the demo and played it over and over as a kid.

Too bad this world was never seen in the movies, I think it would have made a great setting.

This game was my childhood. it was the first game i ever owned and the one I played with my dad. It was the one that made me fall in love with gaming and Im deeply grateful for it. Even playing it after all of these years still brings me joy. Happily bopping my head to the cantina theme whilst I effortlessly plough through the enemies.

Now there I also agree. Kyle is quite the character. He goes from a mercenary to a Jedi in no time at all. =)

I remember being 8 and being absolutely fascinated by this game. Never really knew how revolutionary this game was until now. Those live action cut scenes tho

The enhancer mods make it look a lot more like Jedi Outcast, which is very cool. The best thing about the graphical change is the environments. They look awesome.

This game was fucking awesome. ‘Nuff said.

These cutscenes are more Star Wars than the new Star Wars films and I bet these were filmed on a budget enough to pay for a weeks shopping :|

I remember getting stuck in the first level for AGES. I never played it again. Just got it from the Star Wars HB ... I think it's time to continue.

Nostalgia is strong with this one, I was in college 1st year when this game came out, had so much fun playing it. Back then Internet was in infancy, we used to get pirated CD's with game packs in our corner of the world, this one had all its video sequences stripped as they took a lot of space (90%) compared to the actual game itself. Always wondered what the hell mission meant "get to 88's remains" or something like that, for the 2nd mission. I remember I blew through the game in easy mode, then switched to hard for a torturous experience.

I remember when I was anywhere between 4-6 when my step dad was playing this. Holy shit.

Out of all the shooter games I played when I was a kid, this topped my list of fun games. Even though I could never get passed level two where you go up where the boxes are, I still tried and enjoyed it anyway. lol I kinda wished they'd run this as the new Star Wars Movie storyline. I think it would've been interesting who would've played who an maybe they could've added extra stuff like where Luke Skywalker and the rest of the movie characters were during this or before/after. But I enjoyed watching all your videos. Nice job!

I remember my Dad got this game on his Birthday back in the late 1998, Sis and I played this game numerous times and we have now replayed this on Steam on our computers, while Dad played this two times on his own... This game does brings back memories and our Nostalgic childhoods... And this should have been a movie as well as anyone else says too...

I love this game and I loved the tricky level design of older games like this one. It was not always easy to find the exit but this was great

Yeah!!! I bought a PC just so that i could play this game. Downloaded and started playing it thanks to your videos, LBF. I forgot how good it was. I prefer the Live action cutscenes too, but they are camp AF. The Vengeance is a great looking Star Destroyer. I'm hoping that Lucasfilm Games returns to Kyle in the coming years.

14:09 - If you're up for Dark Side points, you can push that civilian over the edge of the platform he's standing on just by walking up to him and pushing. He even has a falling scream, which is odd given that he appears to be the only civilian in the game you can kill in this way.

I wonder if my parents still has this game lying around somewhere...

My parents are not usually like that, but the game might have gone as collateral damage during moving or something. We had a lot of games that didn't even work, and another lot that was never being used. Mostly due to lack of powerful enough hardware.

Jarek was honestly a impressive villain and one of the few emperors hands vader didnt murder when he worked with them in legends.

Indeed. And Kyle uses both the mercenary skills with the Jedi skills... no other character on Star Wars did or does that like him.

The rodians, as weak as they are, sometimes scared the hell out of me, because they're very sneaky fellows (they weren't that bad in mysteries of the sith), the game manual described them as sneaky too...
