One thing I noticed about that mole is the warp. When sitting the X1 on the Deck the back Right Soler array is twisted. The whole back of the right side is as well. So it talked a bit of Mucking around to get it to sit Level. Thats from the very first kits that came out in 77. To the remakes. They all have the same Querk, I've built a few of those kits over the years.

Fun Fact: During the production of The Empire Strikes Back ILM used the wings from that MPC kit on the TIE bomber studio models which were smaller than the Imperial TIE fighter studio models.

@@EagleSciFiModeler Aw, somebody else saw Star Wars before George (Lucas) did the third revision and erased Prowse's eyeballs! Frankly, I thought Vader's helmet looked BETTER with the red lenses. I'm not surprised later Star Wars TV shows and movies (Rebels, Rogue One) show Vader with the red lenses. If I recall correctly, they adopted black lenses for the helmet (Empire, Return of the Jedi) because you couldn't see his eyes with those. Unfortunately, it also made the stunt man's (Bob Anderson for Empire and Return of the Jedi) job a LOT harder and more hazardous. He could rarely take off the helmet (offscreen framing) for the dueling sequences. Some of those Empire sets had at least 10-ft drops!

Love the reddish pink lighting. It looks really good on camera. The new Vader figure sculpt looks better. The original was so bad I couldn't use it for my build. When you turned the model around, one of the angled wings looked misaligned? I remember having this problem with the kit I built in 1991.

Plus 1 on that. I had to make a custom Vader for mine. And I was going to say the same thing about the wings. They still didn't fix that ! Lol. I just dug all my old models out of the box. Thinking of adding lights to them. This one will be a pain to retro fit though. But where there is a will........

Looks great! I started that kit last weekend. I’m looking forward to finishing it. I like the big size of it. That leading edge wing fitment is pretty disappointing though. Yours turned out awesome!

Oh, so, so much bigger than the Bandai model kit releases! I bet the pricing is more fair for the size as well! The plastic might hold up better, too. The Bandai kits (which are all but gone from the mass-market stores that still carry model kits) as I recall were prone to breaking easily AND had adverse chemical reactions (brittle, melted) to the "wrong paints," too. Yeah, the detail was better but not THAT much better! Seems like this channel and others proved you could plus the older SW model kits and they came out looking as just as well or better than the Bandai kits with TLC. It didn't seem like you had to go overboard to make them better, either.

Yeah, I've had a lot of issues with Bandai's plastic breaking and cracking. The detail is impressive but their kits are primarily small-scale.

I could have sworn they reused the TIE Advanced model in Return of the Jedi but I guess all we saw in that film were standard TIE's and the TIE Interceptor which looks a LOT like the TIE Advanced at a glance. A shame -- it was such a distinctive spacecraft. I guess like the Constitution-Class Enterprise they never felt it could reused out of the original Star Wars because everyone would associate the TIE Advanced with Vader. This means to say it was just a one-off prototype?!? The EU and official backstory for the spacecraft says otherwise!

I'm in the UK. What type of lighting kit do I use? Completely new to this but bought the model kit recently. Amazing work ofcourse.

Thanks, I don't use a kit so to speak, but I make my own lighting from various LEDs, SMDs, light strips, and so forth. I buy those items in bulk and design my own lighting. I may make a basic lighting video if you think that would help, let me know.

Nice work, it looks great mate 👍👍 Have you fixed the side panel alignment one, or both, look twisted.

Maybe the video makes it seem that twisted...no one was played and the buyer was very happy with the model.

What color of grey did u use on this model

Great job. Do you remember where you perched the ESW-14 tweezers that you used to remove the masking tape from the solar panels. I got a set from Hobby lobby and they're tearable. Thanks

How do you remove the paint bleed on the wings after removing masks? I did a small one 1/72 with Testor's enamels and I'm having a tough time removing it without spreading it too much. Using Testor's enamel thinner on a cotton bud.

I typically use acrylics, they are easier to wipe away with a cotton bud and alcohol...I usually apply a clear coat before painting to protect the undercoat.
