Gotta love how quickly Grievous responds to Dooku's criticism. "Stop using standard attacks, use the unorthodox!" *Throws the lightsaber, catches and swings with his foot to gain more reach* "Control my center line." *Swings downward, forcing Dooku to sidestep* "Faster, destroy my focus!" *Rushes in with a quick flurry of attacks* "You're holding the saber too tightly." *Instantly eases pressure on the hilt* Gotta say, he's a brilliant student

Fun fact many don’t know about: Ventress’s red blades belonged to Komari Vosa, one of Dooku’s former Jedi apprentices. She left the order in anger and was captured by an Outer Rim criminal cult called the Bando Gora. There, she was tortured, fell to the Dark Side, killed her captors, and became leader. Dooku hired Jango Fett to both neutralize her as a threat as well as test him to see if he was worthy of being the clone army’s template.

@@grimtunes3527 1) Mace *is* objectively below Sidious. The only reason he was able to gain the upper hand in lightsaber combat is because of Vaapad, a style which feeds off of the opponent's negative emotions. Dooku is cold blooded and emotionless in a fight, hence no Sith eyes. So Vaapad is not effective against him. 2) Dooku already did beat Mace: _In the history of the Jedi Order, only two opponents ever overcame him in battle. One was Master Yoda, who was said was the Order's true master of lightsaber combat. The other was former Master Dooku, whose own fighting style was archaic, yet stunningly effective._ - *Power of the Jedi.* 3) Even much later on Dooku is still considered equal or superior to Mace: _“Hm.” Yoda stirred again with his stick. “Then best of all would be the strongest student, yes? Wisest? Most learned in the ways of the Force?” He nodded. “Best of all, Dooku would be!” His eyes found the other Jedi, one by one: and one by one, they looked away. “Our great student!” Yoda’s ears flexed, then drooped. “Our great failure.”_ - *Yoda: Dark Rendezvous.* _The Count’s blade was quick as a viper striking. Among the other Jedi, perhaps only Mace Windu would have been his equal on neutral ground: but here on Vjun, steeped in the dark side, his bladework was malice made visible-wickedness cut in red light. “I’ve hurt you!” Dooku cried._ - *Yoda: Dark Rendezvous.* 4) Tyranus had stalemated Windu with a one handed grip against a two handed grip while talking casually near the end of the war on Boz Pity.

When they mention his death in TCW Season 7 and almost brush over it is the greatest example of that impact to me. The leader of the CIS, the one who fought two of the most powerful and influential Jedi in the order to a stand still, and sometimes outright defeated, on multiple occasions and was partly responsible for an entire galactic civil war. And then he was gone just like that. The drum beat after Obi-Wan says it really cements this feeling of dread, but then they just move on to more relevant business because they don’t know the magnitude of that death yet. But we the audience do. Every time I see that scene it always sends chills down my spine

It’s like what Sidious told Vader in a Vader comic: “Darth Maul was a loss, but Darth Tyranus was a proton torpedo. He served his purpose and was gone” I mean dude, Dooku was • a charismatic leader who can inspire THOUSANDS of systems and millions of civilians to leave a corrupt Republic • was Yoda’s finest student at that point • one of the Jedi Order’s greatest swordsman (only Mace Windu was his equal and Yoda his superior, at least prior to ROTS) • a master of the Force (even taught telekinesis on an advanced level) • when he became the Count of Serreno he became one of the wealthiest individuals in the ENTIRE GALAXY He has brought plenty of advantages to the table, with probably one or two flaws for him • he’s even older than Sidious. As powerful as he is, he won’t be outliving Palpatine in terms of natural lifespan (NOT counting Force) • Was arguably more loyal to the cause against the corrupt Republic than he was pro Sith (depending on the point of view of either EU or Canon). He used the dark side as an Avenue of power to help him achieve his goals for power and order.

Dooku should have seen it coming as he claimed to be a Sith. Sith philosophy results in just as many of them backstabbing and destroying each other as they do their enemies. The way I see it, Dooku's surprise at how quickly Palpatine threw him away is proof that he wasn't the apprentice Palpatine was looking for.

That's because Tartakovsky understands that he doesn't need to jingle keys to keep his audience's attention. He introduces three pretty major antagonists in this series (Ventress, Durge, and Grievous) yet uses them all sparingly: Ventress has her introductory episode, her duel with Dooku, and the duel on Yavin IV, Durge is only present during the Muunilinst Campaign, and Grievous only appears in the season two finale and the series finale.

Dooku is awful in this show compared to his CWMMP portrayls. He isn't nearly as complex, powerful or charismatic. Maul doesn't even appear until season 4 and when he does it's total waste of time, he achieves nothing of substance and ends up right where he started. Palpatine is a behind the scenes schemer, there's not much of him. Trench is a poor substitute for what Grievous should have been. Hondo is a straight up gag character. Anything else?
