It`s not a barrel organ Riot. In a barrel organ, the programme is stored via pins on a barrel, whereas this organ, has the programme stored on punched card.

Basic there is the « bourdon » ... 42 flutes, with the first button we add the treble 42 other flutes tuned an octave higher and with the other button you can add the « Celeste » the same as the « bourdon » but slightly detuned to create a psycho acoustic effect.

Gnarl for this book, it was 1 month to create it ! The difficulty depends on the song ! The original version is so well composed that the organ reduction was not that difficult in the end. Sometimes simpler songs take me a lot longer because they adapt less to the organ.

@@bricedudouet417 I made an arrangement of this same piece for my 36-keyless organ a few years earlier, with fewer available notes, arrangements can become more tricky to make. And yes, in between other work, it takes several weeks to get the arrangement into your head, and then make the stencil for the book. The punching the book by hand takes more hours of work. This is why the music for these organs is expensive.

the 1 month time frame is fairly realistic. unless you are retired you can't devote full time to arranging... the base structure can be done in one to two days, then you work on the details for the next few days (good to take breaks and come back to it with fresh ears) until you are mostly satisfied, then send it off to get perforated; it will land in the queue of the perforating machine which is an unknown time frame, but usually around one week wait. Then shipping time of a few days; until you can actually play it in the organ one month will have passed

I think street organ is the best word for this instrument because it doesn’t work with a barrel ! It works with paper !

I've seen several player organ videos now and I've come to the following conclusions: 1) There is nothing so uninteresting as the front of the organ (well, maybe grass growing) 2) This is followed by the organist grinding and his butt 3) Pretty much the only interesting things are the music roll/book as it goes through the reader and any play mechanisms (but they are not interesting enough to justify cutting to them durring the song). So anyone out there making these kind of videos, take a still of the front of the organ and put it on for ten seconds before any action/music, then mount a camera to watch the paper going through the reader, then resist any urge to cut to other views while the song plays. At the end one can show play mechanisms while repeating parts of the song that highlight them. Voila! A maximized interesting video.
