The more times I rewatch this every year, the more I really appreciate the depth of the idioms and metaphors in this version, especially with a bit of background in Chinese. I never understood why everyone says the dialog in the prequels were so bad but now I realize it's because they must have just been watching the wrong version. This writing is clearly Shakespearian in its majestic beauty.

Star Wars has never been really used modern dialogue. George Lucas wrote Star Wars by being inspired by the serials of the old days. Robin Hood, Flash Gordon to be precise. In the 80's all this was still new. Fast foward to Prequels days, and that type of writing was antiquated. So people found it off putting. Now that is to say there wasn't some bad or rough spots. But it was never as bad as people would complain about it. This however, has my cheeks hurting i'm smiling and laughing so much.

According to the guy who originally posted about Backstroke of the West, one of the many reasons the dialogue is so off at times is because one of the bootleggers first listened to the movie in English then wrote down what he thought he heard. That is why Anakin saying “Destroyers” at 8:56 is translated to “Exterminate them”, because the bootlegger thought he said “Destroy them”. Apparently, the guy also would just make things up, like the dialogue of the droids in the elevator telling each other to stop pushing, since in the original scene they’re just mumbling.

Actually, there is a Russian bootleg dub of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone nicknamed "Boat and Musicians" (Лодка и музыканты) that came out in 2001. It has its own beauty. It's so insane that: 1) Harry turns out to be a son of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin whom Albus Dumbledore and McGonagall stole from him, wanting to have a kid, but then turned him to foster parents, them being James and Lily, but after their deaths they hand him over to Dursleys; 2) Harry is a schizophrenic with a dissociative personality disorder, his second personality being Voldemort himself (and Harry even speaks in his voice!).
