    Agreed 100%. The right music was used for the leaving drydock sequence, it's too bad the original Goldsmith score wasn't used here as well. BVC Studios, any chance of a recut with the Enterprise track?

    I didn't get this at first but it's the Federation that's big and Starfleet is a smaller, sub-organization within the Federation, from Earth alone. Even though it has members of other races in it, it's still one organization originating on one planet. It doesn't possess the vast resources of the collective Federation.

    I have no words, this is phenominal. One thing about the TOS asthetic is that the original design was utilitarian, the refit was supposed to refine the class. The Kelvin timeline evoked a raw power asthetic to show the Enterprise as the pride of Starfleet. This... This is magnificent, the blending of the refit and Kelvin asthetics was seamlessly done. Honestly if they had shown this at the end of Beyond, as i am now, i would have been in tears. Shes beautiful, stately, power envoking... Just an awesome job.

    I'm honestly not sure, probably would be a mixed bag just like everything else these days? But that's the reason I went ahead and did this design in the first place--I liked the Ent A design in Beyond BUT felt it wasn't really an evolution as it was a step sideways from the Ryan Church design.

    I love 95% of this video. I love the much better translation of the Enterprise into the JJVerse, the slight upgrade on all of the models, and one of the few composers that could measure up to Jerry Goldsmith is Elliot Goldenthal and that track from Sphere is phenomenal. What kills it is the Enternal Light track. It completely kills the feeling that you got with even using "Leaving Spacedock" on your preview. If you stayed with that and played with the sound editing (or find another Elliot Goldenthal track), it would have been amazing. With this, I hope you're happy with a 9/10.

    @@Ladmad321 each bit of software is different but most student versions are free and not usually restricted...the biggest restriction is you can't use your work commercially or make any money from it. Blender is decent...most 3D packages are very similar since the basic concepts of CGI are universal, so stick with what works for you. I use Maya as that's pretty much an industry standard, and even then most VFX houses are flexible with that kind of thing. The biggest things I teach new artists are 1 - understanding colorspace (this is crucial if you're working in a pipeline and handing off your work to the next person down the chain), 2 - how premultiplying/alpha mattes work in renders, and 3 - how light works in a physical camera. The last one is crucial in getting your images from 90% to 100% photoreal, because a digital/virtual camera doesn't react to light the way a physical camera does. Glares, glows, lens effects, are all things that are added in post to a clean rendered image, and it's not some automatic setting. You have to know how light reacts in different lenses and a film backs, and what effect variable light intensities have to those elements Sorry for the rant, good luck with everything!

    The Kelvin timeline Enterprise is *not* 725 meters and I will argue that with JJ Abrams and any other "executive" at Paramount anytime they feel like. In a nutshell it's approximately 304 meters, give or take, depending on how long the necelles are. The leading edge of the saucer section is the telling factor and anyone who does models and understands scales can see it instantly. In TMP through Undiscovered Country the Enterprise has 2 decks on the lead edge of the saucer. In Star Trek 2009 , where Enterprise is reported to nearly 2 and a 1/3 times the size, it still does. Looking at the windows along the engineering section as well you'll see the decks have to either have massively high ceilings, or there's just not enough of them. The decks are *ALWAYS* going to tell you how tall something is, and from that, you can figure out how long, and how wide it is. Saying that, I thoroughly enjoyed the Kelvin movies, and see them as a great addition to Star Trek, giving us good insight into Leonard Nimoy's (RIP) Spock after TNG. The blending here, of old and new USS Enterprise, is beautiful and well done ❤

  • @BVCStudios

    @BVCStudios

    I feel you--from what I can tell, what happened was they built the first version of the ship to the original Ent scale (289 meters I believe), but when it was on screen it apparently lacked 'grandeur' so instead of rebuilding the ship to the increased scale they just took the model and scaled the ENTIRE thing at once, which made all the other elements like the windows and decks completely out of proportion. It was a decision made for pure production/spectacle purposes. also 725 meters is way too big. This version is sitting around 430 meters long, but that is with 8 foot high decks. When I finalize I'd really like to get it under 400 meters to more closely match the 309 meters of the refit, but the decks and windows will all have to make sense at whatever scale =) Thanks for your kind words!

By that century their would just be clear voice transmissions with no distinguishable squelch, or repeater breaks. It would just sound like a digital phone conversation. 2 people standing next to each other speaking normally. But what the Hell, its sci-fi.

    The doors on the pod are actually designed to open inward! But the design could probably be better =)

    This movie came out when I was in college. We had waited 10 years for Star Trek to come back since it was cancelled by NBC. How I wish this scene had been done like this new clip. It is so WAY over the top better than the boring original footage was. Bravo!

    O no, you got the scale wrong. The Kelvin timeline puts the Enterprise at 3 times the size compared to the Original. That way the shuttle bay looked more normal.

    This one I locked off at 435 meters from tip to tip…seemed a reasonable compromise since when I scaled it to the Ryan church 2009 enterprise it seemed even more ridiculous in 3D lol

    Uh, travel pods are not attached to starships, they’re like taxis around starbases and spacestations so it wouldn’t have “Enterprise” stenciled on the side. (Just sayin’) Also I just noticed, Scottys ship insignia on his chest has the command section symbol inside the chevron not the engineering section symbol. Costuming messed up.

    if there was then the enterprise wouldn't be the ship "in range" with the alien vessel Vger and it would be a different story/movie

    @@jr-pl9kj yeah that’s what makes it a bit silly. Although if Kirk just says BEST ship instead of ONLY ship, that would be good enough IMHO
