What a essential scene to the movie. S R Hadden, an industrialist like Rockerfeller or Carnegie in his senior years wanting to give back something significate to the people on the planet. He financed many people who came to his foundation for funding and probably many of them failed him. But Dr Arroway was on the road to success and he had her back against the powerful in Washington DC. I bet he was immensely proud of her. A great comfort in his dying days.

Nope, much different model DB Cooper jumped out of a fully Americanized passenger jet. The one in the movie was a former Russian passenger jet; two sets of two engines mounted directly beside each other. This plane has a fully exposed APU, which looks a lot like a fifth engine. The model shown is a Russian IL62

I make no clams at being a genius....but the moment I saw three squares didn't line up right, I immediately understood the 3D perspective of it. I only had about 2 seconds to mentally process it before the reveal..but I definitely saw what he was about to reveal coming before he showed her.
