I love how Mariner and Boimler are modeled, visually, after their voice actors, so they match so well in their live action renderings.

IKR. It’s absolutely insane. Did they really do it like that or it’s just simply a coincidence? When I checked out the voice actors for the characters, they genuinely did look like them or people who would act in similar ways if it was live action. This crossover is an absolutely brilliant idea then, unless it was actually planned to potentially happen in the long run in one form or another.

Boimler's reaction to being addressed by Spock is 100% spot-on Trekker. We'd get the Vulcan salute out no problem, like it's second nature, but be totally unable to verbalize anything coherent in the moment.

also remember Boimler KNOWS what happens to Spock, he know Spock attempts to reunify Vulcan and Romulans (from that TNG 2 parter) and also should know that Romulus was destroyed by a supernova and that Spock disappeared. Also, from Boimler POV he is talking to basically Federation Royalty, it would be like meeting Einstein if you are a scientist.

I remember when they announced this at SDCC. It was Jack and Tawney basically bombing the Strange New Worlds and mugging about a crossover episode. We all thought it was a joke until Anson Mount was nodding like “yup. It’s really a thing. A thing that is happening.” It was fantastic

@@ADayintheLifeoftheTw the correct answer is they shouldn't because any recent adaptation to turn something into a live-action, a reboot, or anything else people have recently been shoehorning things into, always turns out to be crap. one thing we also dont do is mess with trek too much. sorry but it doesn't have anything to do with 'animation', cause most of us are adults, and we dont care that much about cartoons anymore. one reason honestly alot of people dont like or didnt catch lower decks, is that star trek isnt family guy, and its not always comedy 24/7.

They coooould… but I would totally prefer for them to keep it animated. This style they’ve decided to go with along with the comedy just so works like this. @@KazeMunashii was with you right until the point you said “adults don’t care that much about cartoons anymore.” If you had been following online the huge popularity in animation these days in the medium and the vast diversity people love to see from it, and how much it promotes Art, you would see that adults are very much still watching and are hungry eeeeven more for things like these to be made. Not just continued, but also more shows made for adult audiences that aren’t just simply revolved around comedy, and are simply more mature to follow with the characters. Anime first led the way with this, and now the west over the last decade+ has been catching up in many different areas. I think some of the best examples of these from the early 2010s onwards would have to be The Legend of Korra, Young Justice and Archer.

@@danielwhyatt3278 naw. i run the worlds leading live-action channel on twitch since 2016. you're barking up the wrong tree. at some point, peoples interests MATURE and evolve. anime is just tropes now with maybe a good show or three every other quarter, the rest are throwaway. this is evident, since technically the big 4 never died and are still running (bleach, naruto, one piece, dbz), and to top it off, no one ever came close to those shows. even demon slayer is still just an A or A- on the scaling, and that's giving it credit just for being popular. either way, i dont understand people marveling over 'artstyles', so mentally i cant understand why you think drawings are 'pretty' or 'cute (ew). at least in live-action, people have died onset, the titties you see are real and exist in real life, and they have series that run for over 50 years instead of something you love just airing and then ending 4 seasons in, every year its a new motif or theme. in a way, anime is still top dog for alot of people, but an inferior saturated market version of what anime actually used to be. besides, japan is trying to pass a ghey bill yesterday, so future anime will be ruined and die, because due to western influence, fanservice will die, among many other tropes, because it'll become 'too lewd and wrong to show', so japans being infiltrated and anime will suffer for it.

This was one of the best episodes of Strange New Worlds. Big fan of Lower Decks, and Boimler was PERFECTLY cast and acted, Mariner was VERY GOOD and I think they played off each other well. The characters portrayed the screw up / lovable dynamic great, even when the Captain wants to reprimand them just through the conversation they get on his good side by their playful / goofy nature. Hats off. I would have thought this would be a train wreck combination, but it actually was excellent.

That's nice. Shame no one will ever watch the episode, or know who any of these characters even are

I didn't even like SNW season 1 but I'd watch season 2 just to see this crossover. Ritos!

Did not see strange new worlds because I don't have the streaming service who does host it in germany, but I love lower decks so maybe I need to pay for another one to watch strange new worlds for some background. x)
