Star Trek - Horizon is a feature-length fan film made by a single filmmaker as a personal passion project and love letter to Enterprise, the fifth Star Trek series. Pre-production began in December of 2012 and this 3-year-long odyssey concluded on February 25th, 2016. It's been a long road, getting from there to here.
The Coalition of Planets, a young alliance of worlds led by Earth, is at war with the Romulan Empire. Desperate for a chance to gain the upper hand in the war, the Coalition forms an alliance with T'mar, a Romulan deserter, in the hopes that she can provide valuable intelligence on her former masters.

Calling this "fan-made" doesn't give it the kudos that it deserves yet it's the spirit and enthusiasm of these fans that makes for such a great production. I hope that you are all rightly proud of what you achieved here.

Those with courage and vision, DO. Those without either of those traits come on youtube to uselessly troll and hurl insults. Because that's all they know how to do. This was a 100 minute labor of love - created by fans with the guts, determination and skill to pay homage to a beloved fictional universe. The only legitimate reaction to this film should be admiration. Will this film win any Oscars? No. Should Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Charlize Theron and the like be worried for their jobs? No. Is the screenwriting sublimely perfect? No. Did the production crew have millions of dollars to play with? Very likely also no. Judge things for what they are - stop making useless comparisons to big budget films. Team, THANK YOU. Incredible job everyone. CONGRATULATIONS! cheers!

Dude even Stanley Kubrick had people who criticized his movies. This is par for the course. A measure of good works is in its emotional effect that happens to those who are to know them. Pacific Rim was a movie I was excited for, for years, but I was sorely disappointed in how it held back from being a deeper film simply because of its genre. It could have been more and I expected more but my emotions and criticism of the film is also born of a love for it. That's part of what being a fan is. To be fanatical.

The film is very good considering how it was produced, funded, directed, etc. The plot line was actually reasonably engaging. Why, exactly, do the Internet "trolls" have to spew their excessive venom, hate, foul-mouths, & trash vocabularies??!! I have a theory in-agreement w/others who comment reasonably: the "trolls" are non-achievers who do nothing, create nothing, add nothing, accomplish nothing, add-up to nothing, so they hate themselves ... but, in their completely enraged ignorance of failed selves they blindly spew their garbage posts. Each time the rest of us read such trash, check-out the sceen-name of the writer & let it register that this is just another failure. ("For kicks", click-on their little pictures or icons to see if they've revealed a Facebook homepage; then one can go there & more intimately identify what such a failed person posts about themselves. It might prove an instructive experiment?!)

I just watched this movie and was completely blown away that this is a fan film. It was better then multi million budget Hollywood drivel that so called top producers make. The acting, special effects, story were top notch. I don't know how they did it but kudos to them and would love to see more of their work.

Ignore what Craig says about "diversity". There are 1,025,110 words in the English language and none of them accurately describe just how epic this piece of cinematic art is. This has to be in the top five of the all-time greatest animated films I have ever seen. The fact that you did this with zero budget is astounding. Be proud of the fact that you put many "High-Paid Professionals" completely to shame with this project. If Paramount has any brains in their heads (which they probably don't), they will tap you to make more of these for Star Trek canon. Thank you for your contribution to sci-fi culture. The whole Star Trek family should look upon this and marvel.

I wouldn't go that far but yes this was really good. However something did annoy me a bit.. everything seems a bit blurry and I'm watching in 1080p. It feels like there is some kind of bloom and smudging (using Photoshop terminology for this one). As an example 28:00, his clothes, like that yellow ribbon, are kinda smudged out into the background. I assume it is because of lack of tech? I don't make movies so idk.

The storyline, acting, filming and SFX carried out herein is by far the most impressive, non-professional major studio Star Trek movie I have ever had the pleasure of watching. +Kel Kun exactly my thoughts. Waaay to much talk that makes no sense, and some of the behaviours are also not true to canon in terms of other than human races. The CGI is really well done, especially the space scenes, but there's too much bloom everywhere. Still, I bow to the makers, as it's a great addition to the ST universe.

@cmmiles000 Yes we've seen actual movies before, and we're sick and tired of the bullshit cliches and focus on visuals over character and plot that is being pumped out lately. Today's movies are just robots and superheroes punching each other in the face, and the new Star Trek films aren't much better. In the 80's, the Star Trek films were fantastic, mostly. And then with the exception of maybe First Contact, the rest are shit. This fan film made me think of a long, perhaps 2 part episode to an offshoot of Enterprise. It fits perfectly with it. There are things to nit-pick for sure, but it's better than any of the shit being peddled out today. 2016 hasn't seen one good sci-fi movie.

I figured to chime in again as the film tops 13mil views. Most of the comments are about the acting and to be honest yes at times it comes across as flat and/or disconnected. The most difficult aspect was that the vast majority of scenes were green screen with only one actor at a time. That is difficult for even the most seasoned actors. In the movie when you have more than one cast member in the scene you have more emotional connection and better pace of dialogue. This was shot over the span of a year, mostly one actor at a time in a basement. The outside shots, the final scene and some of the scenes aboard the Horizon were the only shots with multiple actors on the set. Anyone who has ever made an actual movie can truly appreciate the fact that Tommy got this done. There are many other fan films, several that are Star Trek based, that were either much shorter or had way bigger budgets and still never even made it to completion. To my knowledge this is the most viewed Star Trek fan film out there. For perspective, Tommy was offered a great job in LA before this was even completed because a well known SFX expert saw the talent. All in all everyone involved had a great time and they all should be proud of the work they did. LLAP

With a lack of experience comes a disconnect, in all facets. I guess to get that last 5% of 'immersion' is sometimes accidental until you start to recognize situations and solutions, or opportunities to finally hand that fully refined and un-distracted expression over to the viewer. Things like busy computers screens in the background and never getting the feeling like there was daylight or some equivalent quality of lighting made me feel claustrophobic. But it was great; I admire this work very much. IMO it can hold it's head up high in the ST universe.

Ive seen a ton of these sci-fi series/movie offshoot fanmade videos amd shorts. This was one of the VERY FEW that actually made me feel like I was watching a professionally produced and legitimately commissioned film. It was that good. For what it is the story is very well written. The actors who are obviously not professionals still manage to connect with each other's on screen characters and deliver their lines with some effort of realism. The cinematography and special effects were definitely a large step above other productions of this sort. The film kept me engaged the whole time never knowing what was coming around the next scenes corner.. I hope those involved with the creation of this go on to make many more. I for one will be here with my bucket of popcorn eagerly awaiting the start of more adventures with them.. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication and not too small amount of personal sacrifice I'm sure it takes to be involved with and produce these films especially with the degree or realism and professionalism shown in this production.. Keep up the good works. **End of Federation Commands message**

Wife & I coming to this late, but, just watched it, and, my gosh, genuinely bowled over by the story, the writing...all of it! Absolutely phenomenal effort. Thank you, Tommy, for attempting to answer some of the burning Enterprise questions I've had for two decades now! Your film is cannon, in my mind. I only regret that the lawsuit prevented a worthy sequel with this crew.

To the director, and creator of this phenominal fan film. I say, you did truly boldly go, and beyond. Coupling the old time line with the new, and including the STO timeline and Temporal Cold War. My hat is off to you as a Trek fan of old and new. May you live long and prosper, perhaps in the near future you will make another. And if so, Qap'la! to it, and you will have a viewer.

This is the best full length ST fan film I’ve seen to date. I hope that you’ve done a sequel that CBS-Paramount-Viacom did not interfere with as they have with the Axanar project. Rather than being uptight and territorial as the corporate ST folks have been, perhaps they are learning to let the creators of quality fan fiction like this be and learn what the people, aka us, appreciate and look for in the heart and soul of the universe that Gene created. I’ll admit that ST Discovery has grown on me, but your Discovery is a better ship with a superior crew. Thank you for your resources, time and effort.

Despite the few plot holes of the captain not knowing things any friend or captain should have known about his crew, I liked the different dynamic of a captain who didn't really want to be a captain anymore. I loved this film. To me, you guys went above and beyond the call of duty to bring forth a memorable Star Trek fan film. Sadly there are not many fan films in the trek universe due to big corporations trying to take it from us, the fans, that pay and also love the franchise. Anyways, I also believe this time era needed to continue since the romulan war was a big part of trek history not to mention the foundation of the birth of the federation. The crew, cast and director did a great job. Those who can't see this are either jealous and or just whiny because we have no trek series on tv at this time. To be honest, I get more excited when I hear a trek fan film is on the way more then a tv series. The fans love this universe so much, I am glad that a handful got together and made it come alive in their own way. Writing fan fiction is one thing, but when you see it come alive....it's a wonderful thing. Well done.
