You're right, all horses are NOT the same speed! Recently I've started this quite big speed-horse testing project, going to test all 35+ breeds I have based on like 4 different parameters, and the Ardennes is indeed slower than most other horses. It's in fact by far the slowest Gen 3 horse I've tested so far - though the speed difference across horses isn't radical. But it still can matter at championships and especially at high scores. At the Firgrove cross-country for example, my Ardennes' average time was 1:06:80, as compared to for example 1:05:70 by Gen 2 APH, 1:05:87 by Gen 3 JWH, or 1:06:01 by Gen 3 Akhal-Teke. The only horses slower than the Ardennes so far were my Gen 1 horses (Friesian, Andalusian, and Jorvik Pony, whose average time exceeded 1:07:00). And these times aren't just random, I always ran the race 20 times as similarly as possible and eliminated all runs with even the slightest mistakes. The Gen 3 Selle Francais is actually slower too (even after its speed fix), probably similarly to the Ardennes, but I haven't done thorough testing for it yet, only about 7 tentative runs so far. The base speed (= without jumping/turning) seems the same for all horses, it's the jumping and/or turning animations that creates the speed difference. Anyway, though, the Ardennes is so freaking cute that I just can't resist buying it anyway ❤❤

@@yawna7881 I'm going to make a comprehensive video about it, along with a post on Reddit (where I'm active) with an overview of the results, and I've also created a shared Google sheet table with the results, whose address I will publish once the project is finished, so that everyone with the link will be able to check the results any time :) I'm going to test more breeds in the future, so the Google sheet table will continue to be updated regularly even after I publish the Reddit post and the video. I estimate it will take 1-2 more months to finish testing the horses I currently have.

The selle francais is so freaking pretty but i can’t bring myself to spend 900sc on that gallop dude

@autumnlynn7517 the selle's gallop is reminiscent of the gen 2 hanoverian and lippizaner (hip movement) which is why I don't like it. My favourites are the mustang and the Dutch warmblood, but I think it's a little silly to start an online fight over a kids game :)

@@autumnlynn7517bro their pelvis literally ROTATES in the gallop. It’s so unrealistic and just physically incorrect for their hind end to move like that. The front end of the gallop is great but the rear is insane it’s like their bones went liquid.

Agreed! on there not much to do in sso other than buy horse, even training can be done in a day now. It reminds me a lot of 3D chatroom games like feral heart. Tho I will say the one super realistic thing about sso is the shopping, in real life buying horse tack and clothes is stressful cus its expensive and you have no money after buying one thing and in sso its the exact same XD

I gotta say with a full time job and barely any free time at home to game anymore, I kind of appreciate how easy it is to get horse xp now because I can’t sit at the game for 4-5 hours straight most days just doing all the races and training etc. that’s basically all the free time I have to do all my errands and eat and recover from work lol. But I can for sure see why it’s less rewarding for people who can get all the xp available in one day. I think it goes to show how much they expect people to be buying horses now because they made it easier to train to max level

I have had my account for 12 years and I started playing SSO when I was 9. SSO would forever have a special place in my heart because it was such a huge part of my childhood but I don’t play anymore I used to log on like sometimes to just see how the game was going but I haven’t been on or kept up to date with SSO for the past year. I literally only just game across this video because I randomly remembered SSO today. It’s kind of disappointing to see the game now it just seems a lot more childish. I don’t know if it’s cause I’m now an adult but it doesn’t seem like old SSO

I loved the selle francais in spoilers but I feel like in game it looks way too 'painted', like I can see the brush strokes rather than seeing an actual horse coat and it ruins it for me.

Every time I play sso, I swear my eyes can't adjust to the visuals of the game. Maybe that's just me...

It’s so cool to see how much Sso has improved but I miss playing years ago. The feeling was so different idk it just felt so much more fun, and joyful. Maybe that’s because I was a kid back then but I miss the feeling

They're all so prettyyy, I just wish with the arden and the mustang that the mane and tail colors were different and match more closely to the actual coat, but I can see how they want to be accurate to real life. All the coats they've released this year so far are gorgeoussss, it's giving me high hopes for the Friesian.

Not my 2nd fave horse being a mustang :'D Shires are my all time favourite breed but I think my favourite horse I own is the buckskin mustang. I still think they're one of the best made horses in the game

i believe they may have nerfed the Ardennes since I first used them for the races but the last few champs i did recently proved otherwise lol idk how accurate the whole "all horses are the same speed" thing really is I feel like it depends on the day bc i've trained and raced with just about every breed of horse in the game and had about the same flip-flopping experience with speed

That Selle is so pretty but its nose also looks so much like a damn beak😂 I couldn’t with it anymore once I saw it but it still got home with me haha but that damned gallop is still so bad, they need to fix it badly

You buy them with real money- SSO started to release free SC codes (somewhat) regulary again. But they are always only around 30-50 SC so not enough for a horse..

The sc codes were in may. The 300 sc code was in Christmas. I’m pretty sure you could buy a gen 2 horse if you have played during Christmas, or a gen 3 jp.

If you can’t handle consistently buying star coins or star rider then it’s gonna be a less enjoyable experience. Star rider gives you access to more quests, some that unlock other areas. (You gain newer quests as you level up, only if your star rider.) if you don’t have it, it’s just gonna be boring. Warning, sso is a very pay to win game. There’s no way of getting free sc and sr other than codes. If you want to buy sc, go in star stable’s website and log in with your account, then go to shop. The star coin and star rider deals will be there.
