Nice, if that goes well then they can finally get to having a static mesh WITHIN each solar systems so we can finally get the fps and player cap benefits it's supposed to bring. It's not really meshing until we can interact over the mesh boundaries after all.

@@RN1441 No chance they take that step for a very long time. Too inefficient and way too expensive until early days of dynamic at the soonest. They'll deploy a single DGS per system and that's all.

They really should just dock an Idris at a station and allow people to run around it. That would satisfy a lot people for now... I wish they would do that with the Javelin... I can't wait to get it in game. That'll be another 4+ years or so though I'm sure... lol

There were some reports of server recovery times of 30-40 seconds also

Recovery time I imagine is linked to entity amounts, this sounds like a striped back version to limit the amount of variables causing problems for testing. When they add everything back it will take longer to load each crash.

@@Eagle6Airsoft It will actually be shorter - there is a bunch of data logging systems running to collect data to analyze about the crashes that are running in the background - thats how it went from the 10+ minute recoveries when it was Stanton alone down to the 30 seconds to 1 minute with replication layer running both Stanton and Pyro. They are still dialing in and tuning all this tech

a grey market salvage loop in hurston scrap fields would be cool! like how pirelli tyres will sue you if you steal spent tyre off a race track today, id imagine hurston doesnt want their debris fields potentially containing prototypes and industry secrets to be sifted through. maybe an interesting way to garner high tier components or blueprint r&d when these things are actually things in this damn game
Pyro 6 WAS there, it just had no illumination. You could still land on it, had terrain and flora and stuff, well trippy being on the day side but it being pitch black

price hikes of already existing ships are the most hilarious of greedbag moves. It's one thing to raise prices when they work on the ship, but outside of that? "inflation"? Sure as hell aren't material costs or continuous labour costs with most of em.

Would you rather them be self sustaining this way, or be the shit bags EA and all the other “AAA” companies are with their shareholders and investors that constantly push out shitty rushed games? Because those publishers would’ve never had the patience to make anything like this nor would they care because their objective is to make money not great games lol.

@@allthatishere that’s okay not everyone understands, and you can absolutely play star citizen, finished or not… but that’s besides the point. Being crowd funded gives them the freedom to take their time to try to make something great. Other major developers don’t have that luxury because they get their money from big investors that have probably never held a gaming controller. Those guys just care about the next payday and it forces developers to push out shitty games (which has been the trend for the last 10+ years lol)
Videos once a week or every second week if there is little content, in short format videos with a summarization of what has happened, is great for me. I can watch it while i eat at work, and get updated without having to look through tons of material.

I share your caution. It’s important to point out that where it was at the start of evo vs now, it’s improved a lot really fast… but, lack of personal hangars, serious lag and several glitches. Compare this to 3.18 ptu which by this stage was pretty stable and running smooth! But I have faith… I imagine it’s the instances that are causing trouble…

I am new to this project, but these summaries are very useful. I also find it funny how different the tone is to some of your other content, such as reacts. I queue these up along with Bored Gamer videos, but not your other style videos. Just providing some feedback. Hope it helps.
As a coder and understanding network coding since Ultima Online days. The server meshing with a game such as SC has to be using VectorDB tech to VERY interesting algorithms. Id LOVE to walk through it all line by line. I worked on Ultima Online server emulator building file loads and Field of View loading algorithms. It was hard 20+ yrs ago now days🤯🤯

The biggest thing I heard about the meshing test is that while the Stanton side crashed, there was no impact on the pyro side. Does raise the future question of what happens when you jump to a crashed server though.
This is exciting news to hear, but I need to see it in game in the PU but I am more hopeful than what I was !
I'm guessing the Hornet is going up as they will be releasing the ability to finally apply that upgrade package a bunch of us got like a decade ago to upgrade the chassis to the new mark.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that things go smoothly with the jumpgates, but more so that they can then rapidly move to having a few static mesh servers over each solar system to finally let the player cap climb to an MMO level, and the server frame-rates rise simultaneously to a heady 10+fps sustained. Until they optimize the servers the limit would still be 1v1 idris vs idris with a couple smaller escorts each per area of the mesh, but it would still be a big improvement over what's there now.
Its been a rough ride but cig couldnt have pulled this off without the streaming community keeping up the hype.
Gravlev looks really fun. I really ought to get myself some joysticks. Really enjoy these weekly updates. Server meshing is huge. The highlight of this week. Otherwise it's been a slow one lol.
They are raising the price on the Hornet before the Nerf it.

I say good for them for taking a break to see the one nerd movie that actually celebrates the original story instead what we've been getting. Taking a break for Dune = taking a break for Larian and/or every studio who actually loves the stories, movies, or games they build. Let's take the time to celebrate the artists with vision so expansive they come up with things like SC o7.... plus it's def gotta count as sci-fi content and design research ;)

Server meshing was also coming "a year ago" and "two years ago" and "three years ago". What makes this time so special?
Raising prices makes sense, though still isn't cool, if you remember what the real reason for selling, or "pledging for", ships is. It's to fund the development of the game. These prices aren't based on what the work being put in creating the ship would cost, it's based on getting as much money for development as possible. So while inflation doesn't really have that much impact on the costs of an already developed ship, it still impacts the price of everything about development. So when inflation rises, prices also rise for ships. That being said, it doesn't really excuse their habits of the, generously called, "deceptive marketing" they like to get up to when it comes to the current state of the aPU. Especially towards people on the outside of the SC community sphere. I mean, have you seen the adds they ran on youtube like a month ago? Makes it look like an almost finished game. The fact that in game footage (recorded on in studio servers probably) looks about as good as their prerendered stuff doesn't really help in the confusion of what is and isn't gameplay and where the game actually is. Been a backer for 9 years now and wouldn't mind waiting 9 more years or more if that's what it takes to finish the game. It's just so interesting to get to see this much about the process of development at a company and game of this scale, especially as someone currently studying game development. But what I can't stand is seeing CIG continue to give these optimistic best-case-scenario timelines, for what feels like just to keep the hype alive. And sure, some of this is the community hyping up some offhand statement a dev made about some feature that hasn't even been 100% nailed down in design, but it sometimes feels like they're encouraging these kinds of misunderstandings since it's free marketing they easily can go back on. Even if the game and development has never looked more promising, there will be a limit to how many times backers can be burned. Even things that are small annoyances can really start to build up over time. But hey, they've raised almost $700 million (!!!????!?) for a game not even close to releasing and I for sure haven't, so they probable know more about this than me lol.
Regarding the Hornet, I'm guessing it's more just like when the Cutty Black got a hike. Just because it was old and its prices weren't in-line with other, newer, comparable ships. So, I'm guessing we'll see a small hike now, and another hike when the next Gold Standard rework is released. Hopefully, we'll get an F7C mk2 conversion kit and/or CCU before then.

I had a spare cutter I got (somehow?), so I CCU'd it to a Hornet Ghost. Absolutely love that ship with the Eckart mission turrets on it. It's easily my favorite ship to do NPC bounties in.
Reason why they're raising the price is since we're losing the minus 1 on gimbals. The hornet is gonna be running around with a size 5 gimbal. Who doesn't want vanguard DPS for half the price

I believe the Hornet price increase it's because they are going to release an updated version with the golden pass, coming from SQ42. That's the only reason I see. And if true (big if true) I'm afraid they gonna do the same to other ships as well, like the Avenger Titan, Constellation series, so on.

To be fair, the Titan would be well worth a $10-$15 hike, if they would just get around to revamping the damn thing already. It's one of the most ancient of ancients - good for everything, but an absolute garbage pile to look at, now that we have stuff like the Syulen, Cutter, etc.
They're nerfing the P6LR!? First the TTK and no this. Why are they doing this? It a 50 cal sniper rifle!

As usual CIG does price hike to destroy common CCU chsin they people rely on leaving ships in buy back. My guess: F-7C 120$ (no more Nova Jump) F7C-S 135$ (no more FL Dur jump), F7C-R 150$ (no more 140$ option for new ship upcoming at 150$). Chris is money hungry and is after us!
What was meshed in that server test? You couldn't travel between systems. You couldn't chat between systems. What was interacting between two systems? In what way was there meshing happening?

2 servers were connected via the replication layer. If I load up SC right now there will just be the server itself running stanton w/ no replication layer involved. Friday the next test will be with the jump gates enabled so players will be jumping between Stanton and Pyro. Replication layer + 1 server for each system
Replication layer isn't server meshing. I'm sure they are related they serve different functions.

Replication Layer has a function and that is to spool up a new server after the server has crashed. Server meshing has a different function. That is to have a server look after a small area and then to have it seamed up against another server in a perceived seamless way. @@raptorkysen177

@@Abyssdiver hou have no clue on what you're talking about First of all this test allowed 200 players per shard , so 100 players for each Server Secondly server meshing has nothing to do with one planet or cities Server meshing is Server meshing no matter it's one server runing a city, one , planet or an entiere system Server meshing in a game is about connecting multiple game servers in a game session communicating data with each other Communication can be in real time or not Communication can only be about sharing character data , inventories or sharing entiere game state For most online games there is only one Server per game session Only few games can use multiple servers per game session But none of them are near what SC acheived in this initial test SC is the only game with their unique server meshing design and architecture allowing multiple games servers sharing the same replication in real Time Which means it's the first game sharing seamlessly full game states replication between multiple servers in Real Time inside a game session Other games having multiple servers per shard only have partial replication between game servers with each server having their own instance of replication code It seems you don't know anything about game online tech

You know what kept me from going to jumptown? Having to play bunker busters to get decent weapons to use, so THAT was a time sink... and then having to go to a different place to get a ground vehicle to use... Its too cumbersome for me to do the things I want to do in order to play JumpTown. Its too much of a time sink just to do simple shit.

😂what keeps me is the amount of people camping it in every single server. 🤷♂️sorry for my playstyle it's 0 fun to get killed by a camper 24/7 for trying to play a point in game. Hope with pyro any killing in stanton becomes illegal and they have tons of ai. You always see 2-5 people in chat complaining about campers. And if they actually want to build a big community they will do something otherwise it will never be a community like wow or starfield is and that says alot for a 7 year plus game

The only medicine ship that's useful in masternodes right now is the buccaneer cause you can choose when the fight them and when to come in for your straight run Everything else is too slow😊

JT needs to be balanced with ship and comdity prices. JT used to be fun because of how much each unit would cost, but simply nerfing JT with out doing something about prices over all, is meanless. also, a lot of player are sitting on millions of credit and have nothing to do with it. make the 890 890million credits, the carrack 400million or something, increase prices until econ balancese out. it not like we can't rent ships in game for a cheap price either.
My account turned 11 years old last week, I'm glad to see real progress being made again. I figured with SQ42 having the bulk of the work done they'd get us some love on the PU, thank you for the easily digestible updates
I suspect the test is mainly about seeing whether one RL can communicate with two different systems without exploding. If that is the case, the test was definitely a success. Despite the jump gates not being usable, there was information being passed back and forth. There were reports of erroneously having missions available in the wrong system. I guess that means the RL had some difficulty keeping all the missions assigned correctly. Having the Pyro specific missions intentionally disabled made spotting this issue a lot easier. The RL didn't detonate. The RL didn't slow down to 13 minute lag between actions (we have seen that one before!) Entities and missions mostly were kept seperate. For an Evo test, that is actually an amazing result. I am looking forward to the next test. :)
I really hope they wipe all with the next patch. Economy in game right now is so screwed :D
New player here seeking a genuine answer. The game runs like dirt with 100 player servers. Why on earth are they trying to mesh and make them larger? Shouldn't they get it right with 100 people first? I appreciate the insane ambition in this game, but if it runs like shit none of this matters.

The thing with meshing and replication layer is that it will dedicate shards to specific chunks of the server, meaning while - yes, you now have the capacity for more players in each area - you also now have more of that server stress offloaded on individual servers handling specific chunks, instead of one server handling it all.
As long as server meshing has been coming, server meshing is probably the only thing to ever get tired of coming.

From a standpoint of being a independent contractor, I think them canceling a ISC for a movie night is imho BS! that's what you do in your free time, not in normal work hours. No excuse really

Hell even their customer service is one of the worst in the industry. Imagine saying you can't tell when someone gets a ban or you do 🤷♂️ when even cod a horrible company tells you that's quite pathetic

i really don't get, why they don't just start going for complicated simplicity in this game. Rust is a perfect example of all the work that has been done to it. 3.23 is a very good start stuff that should have been added about 6 years ago. instead they want cool looking stuff that doesn't really function in a flowing gameplay. Most every aspect implemented right now is just a stale glitchy half the time broken gameplay loop.
