BOREDGAMER GIVEAWAY RULES | / star_citizen_june_2024...

Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2024 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
The are no dates for Squadron 42's Release Yet BUT it is now Feature Complete.
I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). They occasionally offer me ships for giveaways too, which I will take if they are truely NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
GameGlass, Shadow & NordVPN referrals give me a small kickback, however I am not paid by them for any specific videos or promotion. Unless Otherwise Stated.

    I think we can easily deduce the aperture size of the roof opening. JC said the space was 40m deep, and there are 4 sliding roof doors on the "freighter", so each door is 10m. The Assault, it would appear, only has 3 opening doors, not 4, so the opening in the assault would be 30m x 21m x 7.5m . To help confirm this, the Cargo capacity of the Assault is 25% smaller than the Freighter (i.e. 384 SCU per 10m section of cargo capacity).

    Thanks for the vid. Got the Assault variant. It's not my "dream of a ship", but it covers a lot of gameplay I'd like to experience in the mid to lategame. It can be set up as a small deep space patrol ship as well as a mobile outpost for several jobs. It's limited transport capabilites hide the fact you still can use the Ironclad as an auxillary carrier for a wing of 3 to 4 fighters, which usually is enough for daily operations. You also can bring a C8R or Nursa and add a medbay to the ship too. If you're into ground combat only, you can bring a sizeable force into the fray. As I'm interested in deep space exploration (Vanduul space, to be precise), this ship keeps me covered in a lot of areas and it's a great addition to my fleet.

    I may have missed this in the Q&A on the RSI site.. but I could not see anyone ask, "Can you use quantum drive with the Ironclads roof open??"... If not you can forget using it as a mini carrier for mining and hull scraping as these types of ships are only just to high to close the roof.

  • @StealthPants1
    @StealthPants114 күн бұрын

    idk what it is about the ironclad, but i REALLY like it, to the point that i've come up with multiple little stories about adventures of an ironclad. picking up ore from a hidden mining outpost in pyro, helping someone framed by hurston escape the law and clear their crimestat (using the command module as a separate vehicle), delivering food and supplies to levski (since they're not getting any help from the UEE or major corps), opening the roof to use a nova tank stored in the cargo bay to shoot down a hostile mantis (getting rid of the quantum entanglement so the ship can jump out of a sticky situation). this ship has really gotten my creative juices flowing i will say, i wish there was a way to have *some* control of the ship without the command module, like how you can fly the carrack from the standing position on the upper bridge but can't do as much as you can from the main pilot seat. in my little stories the first mate has modified a janky method of doing that from the cargo control deck, and uses that to make some bounty hunters fly right by them ("the ironclad we're looking for is without its command module, so it CAN'T be that one that's currently flying"). but hey, even if you can't do anything like that, the cargo bay is big enough that you could probably store a pisces in there without losing too much cargo, so you can still have away missions while the ship functions as usual. still though, BIG fan of this ship. the giant engine block reminds me of a CR90 blockade runner from star wars, the detachable command module seems BUILT to make drama for stories, and the heavy armor makes this a GREAT ship for a system like pyro (maybe the armor is heavy enough to withstand most of the dangerous solar flares). plus, in a huge system without much support infrastructure (again, like pyro), being able to bring what you need with you (in such a large cargo bay), repair things on the fly, and defend your crew from hostile forces would be VERY important. idk this ship just really speaks to me

    It was kinda surprising how long that Q&A took to come out, but at least a lot of it seemed to make the ships better and not worse. It was also nice to see the Caterpillar command module compatibility despite the differences. I wonder if we'll be able to get different kinds of command modules in the future? We have a utility module with the Caterpillar having a tractor beam, and we have a defensive module with the Ironclad having a turret, but can you get the other without buying said ship, and if so, what about a scouting module, or a basic salvage module, or even a basic repair module? I'm not sure if they want to lean that way, but it could be a good way of giving bigger Drake ships a little extra utility and customisation.

  • @Adjudicator1

    @Adjudicator1

    Or just like the Anvil C8X Pisces being given its unique starter pack, Drake can finally have a turreted (Ironclad's) Command Module as its "Baby steps Starter" and Outpost storable ship starter pack, with the Drake Cutter becoming a "Standard Starter" ship. This will give Drake players starting with this standalone flyable module a track to buy "plug and play" modules as their upgrade track, selling off or keeping the older ones as spares. Obviously, the Caterpillar and the Ironclad main body will be the upper steps of the Drake swappable Module climb.

    All I heard was that, people were right in thinking the assault makes the Liberator Obsolete. But I feel the Liberator will have its strengths too. We just don't know what CIG will add to justify the price to the Faterpillar assault, or if the assault will end up far higher in price after release.

    People are very much overestimating what dedicated facilities will do. Assuming you can even easily fit ships you want into the retractable roof, the repair bay doesn't work on ships themselves, and its going to lack the facilities to easily refuel and rearm them because the Ironclad isn't meant to have ships in there. I know its been a long time, but people really have the "if it fits it sits" mentality too deeply ingrained (which is mostly CIG's fault, I know). Being able to move ship and supporting ships have been repeatedly said to be very different. The Ironclad doesn't invalidate the liberator at all.

  • @mustrumridcully3853

    @mustrumridcully3853

    12 күн бұрын

    I have both - of the 2 the Liberator is still very strong. Look at the crew requirements - Liberator 2, Fatterpillar 6. That alone makes the Liberator very useful for smaller groups. Oh - and the obvious difference - One is Drake and the other isnt. If pushed I would drop the Fatterpiller, not the Liberator.

  • @PvtDamion
    @PvtDamion14 күн бұрын

    The Liberator doesn't have exposed cargo, maybe less armoured is what CIG is referring to? But I intend to use the Fatterpillar for cargo and the Liberator for vehicle transport, not only did I not pledge for an Ironchad, I also think my current split in usability will serve me better

  • @Ryggs

    @Ryggs

    14 күн бұрын

    I'm guessing they're talking about the topside landing pads being exposed. If you spread cargo from the dedicated bay to the garage, I feel like the Liberator can hold as much as or more than the Ironclad and still transport ships/vehicles!

    I bought the IC Assault since it matches the needs our PMC is going to be looking for. It is a Mobile FOB essentially with limited repair ability and if you add a vehicle with a medbay to the fleet or inside the cargo bay and your temporary minibase is set. But that is all hypothetical until it gets in game. It can be a fall back vehicle transport service as well.

    I think a lot of ships need to be able to have air-shields added to them as a general upgrade whenever room-based oxygen becomes a thing. It wouldn't make sense to me to have a ship specifically marketed as being possibly used for less than legit cargo hauling to have to vent arguably most of the ship's oxygen to be able to use it for such a purpose. On smaller ships it makes more sense to not have something to keep the atmosphere in since these shields might require large machinery to run, but the Ironclad is absolutely big enough to be able to have the same atmosphere shields installed on the top door that a hangar could.

    While working on a CCU chain to Polaris, I have both Ironclads and a Liberator in the chain, in addition to others I want to try out. The idea being to play the base ship, CCU. Fly the next ship, see how I like it, CCU. Repeat, skipping ships I'm already familiar with, then try to spend at least 5-6 good play sessions per large ship once I get to the Ironclad. The CCU chain is slowly developing, so it should be out by the time I get to the Fatterpillar. I'll be able to help crew a Polaris and other ships as they come out (Polaris will be out well before Ironclad) and if I decide I don't like it... I'll stop before I reach it.

    The ironclad seems a bit overdue in terms of design, which it why I love it. The Hercules is one of my favorite ships and having forward and rear cargo doors is awesome. Many ships are one way in and one way out. The herc is just such a treat. I love that the ironclad has two AXIS to load cargo and not just two entrances. Ground loading may be a bit slower on an ironclad, but I have a feeling this beast was meant to "acquire" goods while in low-G.

    The Ironclad seems like a cool personal homebase ship. I own a C1 Spirit, but I'm currently lacking an in-game goal to grind for. This ship might just be something that I can work towards when the game fully releases!

    I cannot decide which variant would be more useful to my playstyle, but on balance giving up a quarter of your cargo space for a workshop that's likely to save your life at least once, make it seem like the safer bet even as a simple cargo hauler. And the extra turrets and ability to deploy large ground vehicles is just gravy. But i don't don't think we'll see it in game for a couple of years.

    The Ironclad is the first ship of a similar size range that has me wanting it over my Carrack.

    Things I now wnat to know.1. Can a Caterpillar module be put into the IC's hold and if independant, then be powered? That would be an enoormous bonus. 2. How do I stop myself getting an Assault as well? The pair as a well stocked temporary base with habitation, repair, medical and what should be a lot of surviviability look like they would be a real bonus for an org looking to establish a forward base in Pyro. 3. How hard will it all get nerfed when markleting wnat the next concept to sell?

    I love the design, I wish the freighter had repair capabilities. I may have to get the upgrade. It would make a awesome mobile pirate base.

    They missed out with the lack of information initially. I opted for the Liberator instead of the Ironclad Assault due to it.

    Ironclad is for sure going to be a cool and versatile ship fit for quite a few roles outside pure cargo i expect.

    I really like how the Ironclad was designed, It works well with the game imo. Also I have the feeling they really nailed down the concept side of developement, well thought and a clear vision what it will be

    Ironclad when released will have other large ships around before, or around the same time. It looks like a great ship and I can’t wait to encounter it when flying around in the verse. I’m debating on if it will be an org ship as a tool in the pocket of how teams of people work their fleet. Rather than being a cargo ship. But it could have a massive role in ground troop/vehicle deployment.

    It's funny that some people seem surprised that the Ironclad is better than the Hercules. CIG stated that it's supposed to be a step up from the Herc and Cat, on the way up to the Hull C.

    I got an assualt when it came out. Later I found out the roof didn't open and got in a panic (it was one of the main reasons for buying one for me), so I got a freighter too... well... guess one's going to be an eventual upgrade. At least it'll increase in value lol.

    The Assault is basically a Hammerhead that also has a huge cargo bay and repair facility. For less. I'm wondering if other ships will be raised up to the capabilities of these newer ships or will we just have a universe filled with Ironclads and up-gunned Polaris (because being a torpedo boat and carrier wasn't enough).

    got a m2 to assault in a ccu. but i feel like while the Hercules line is the closest in game they are not really close in size. the Hercules if you take of the wing part is a medium large ship and the ironclad is the largest possible large ship to still fit inside a large hangar. and all of the ironclad is heavy useful space. so it will most likely be more then 2x the Wight. I would not be surprised if it is 3 times as heavy. it should consume vast amounts of fuel.
