STAR CITIZEN - HARDCORE EXPLORERS NEED ONLY APPLY - ANVIL CARRACK
In todays video we look in detail at the might that is star citizen's Anvil Carrack.
Packed with features to aid in the extreme exploration role this ship has plenty to offer and will almost certainly improve as more features come online. Scout bay, rover bay, drone bay, med bay.
Just some of the great additions to be found the carrack. This ship has won hearts and minds throughout the verse and is possibly the king of exploration vessels for the hardcore.

I have dozens of other ships. but the carrack is going to be my home. and when i say ALL of her systems i do mean everything. jump point scanning. drones. armor bays. her armored cockpit. everything. even the kitchen.

My guy, you did this ship a beautiful justice. Great work mate. You’ve outdone yourself on this one. I’ve gone into the deep lore about the carrack before but you brought so much up I’ve never thought about. Proud to be a carrack owner and I can’t wait to get her up to full speed with drones and modules. Exploration is going to be so genuinely exciting and I’m excited to run it with friends weeks at a time out in distant systems. This video made me fall in love with the carrack all over again. Cheers.

The Carrack was the first ship I dropped serious cash on. The first ship I HAD to have lol.. I love the whole jailer idea you had and in many ways, it's like a trappers variant I've been pondering for some time now. Imagine yourself as a bounty hunter. Instead of hunting people on the wrong side of the law, you hunt for the fauna of SC. Dangerous, endangered and elusive cunning animals that fetch a VERY high price both legally and illegally. If you do it illegally, it's looked at like contraband. If you take the legal route, you'll have to work your way up through the ranks to the most sought after species. Once you put them down, you'll move them to one of the 3 custom cargo pods in the belly of the Carrack. These pods look like regular cargo pods from the outside but they'd open and have access to them externally. Like a Caterpillar. Each pod can have a specific setup to fit your needs. Catching alot of smaller animals? Then the first pod will have cages stacked up to meet your needs. Going for a huge Dangerous beast? Two pods conjoin together to form a bay suitable for said creature. If it's bigger than what 3 pods can store, you're going to need a larger ship lol... I think this game loop can flourish and bring more to the table for adventurers who want to do more than plot courses and sell their findings. Nothing against that but exploring has so many factors to it. I hope CiG doesn't pass up on this idea. Anyway, back to the video!

I hope the cargo bays will be sturdy enough for the Boreal Stalker, the snow beast of Microtech. We need tranquilizer rounds for sniper rifles. They will come in handy for live capture of besties and bounties.

Really nice review and tour of this fine ship. I totally agree - it needs a personnel lift. What I hope CIG will do is change the rear ventral turret into a remote turret controlled from the left seat on the upper bridge. Then replace that manned turret there with the personnel lift. That area leads right to the armory and suit storage so it's the perfect place. They also need to make the main ramp a lot tougher - it's far too easily damaged currently - and we need hangar door controls in the main airlock on the Cartography Deck. Hopefully we will see these changes in the future when they also add the bridge canopy shielding, antenna activation, and drones.

I've owned the Carrack for years and there are a few things that I wish they would change: 1. Change the Upper Deck "standing flight control" to a Captain's Command and Control chair. That standing flight control area is a waste and not needed. Also when standing, your view is obscured severely by the MFDs. Get rid of all of that and make it a Captain's Command Chair. 2. Push the other two chairs on the upper deck closer to the front and make them both Remote Turrets as Remote Turret (RT)1 and RT2. Add a second row of seating for a third remote turret as RT3 and the fourth chair as Drone Control Turret. RT1 Top Front, RT2 add another top remote turret aft of the ship and RT3, change from manned bottom to remote but move it closer to the center and move entire elevator system to the manned turrets space as to have an elevator capable of loading passengers and wounded from the ground. Increase size of RT3 from Size 4 to Size 5. 3. Change the crew quarters to a stack of 3 instead of two for a total of 10 beds. That would be more realistic and keeping with the Navy cramming bodies in spaces. As for what to use the seats on the bridge for question: 1. Bridge Level 1, Center Chair is Pilot, Left Chair is Co-Pilot/Navigator, and Right Chair is Scanner/Intel/Operations. Pilot is self-explanatory. 2. Co-Pilot/Navigator will pilot the ship when necessary or during shift rotation when main pilot not on duty (3 pilots total at two qualified co-pilots and one main pilot). When navigating, will plan and plot jump points based on Captain's orders and Scanner's Intel reports. Also, the primary Pisces pilots. 3. Scanner/Intel/Operations will ping and scan areas for life, ore, location when needed. Will provide Intel report on planet, system, ship or minerals scanned to crew. Will conduct, authorize and track launch and recover operations for manned on foot mission or exploration, ship and vehicle debarking, and drone deployments. Of course, within the ship you will have a Chief Medical Officer, Medical Assistant/Corpsman (for deployments to the field), an Engineer or two and a couple of ground combat trained guys for your away team, and a couple of Scouts that are Sniper qualified. Well, that's how I plan to run my exploration team..... (1) Captain, (1) Main Pilot/Co-Captain, (2) Co-Pilots/Navigators, (2) Scanner/Intel/Operations, (1) Chief Medical Officer, (1) Assistant Medical Officer, (1) Sr. Engineer, (1) Jr. Engineer/Drone Operator, (2) Grunts, and (2) Scouts, (1) Corpsman. That's a 14 manned crew with hot-racks for sleeping quarters.

Dude wow. This is an amazingly well put together video! You earned my sub for sure man. I just bought the uee exploration pack and had this pop up after searching for the drones and stuff on carrack. Never would have thought about there being that much to it. I would like to see Chemist game play! Different planets have different plants or minerals, each one has different levels of chemicals or minerals to add to make different things, including a centerfuge to split each one down into its individual components to separate the Chem you need for the specific item or medicine. Have to use a specific or close to specific amount of say Chem a and Chem b. But if you have the Chem c in too much it turns to poison and you don't know if you mess up until you use it or another station to scan and check .

I tried parking my Hurricane on there as I've done in the past, and it just kinda floats off. Just wanting to keep info accurate. It's still useful for things like dropping off wounded to be taken down the back elevator to the med bay.

As a trucker, I LOVE exploration. As a space trucker, I see it as delivering civilization to the cosmos. Thing is, what is out there? We need data trading, and we need it ASAP. Any word on when our Mercury is going to get its game loop sewn in? Once we start contracting one another, we're really going to need explorers and data to drive our organizations motives to push that to purposeful and reasonably informed contract writing.

This was my dream ship when I first started playing SC, I finally bought it and found I didn’t really use it as much as I thought (at the time), but I recently got it again because my style of gameplay has changed (primarily pve/missions, cargo running, cave exploring and roc mining) it is the best for an all in one. I can have my ursa, my roc, and my Pisces all in one ship, and still cargo haul and explore without switching ships. I feel it flys great (in comparison to the cat). There are no pilot weapons but I don’t engage in combat, and play primarily solo, but feel this is the only ship I need. Only worry is that the ship isn’t really set up for the cargo changes coming with its cargo bay. Hope it gets its updates soon! (: Love your take on it and review 👏

I agree, at any entrance/airlock on all ships (except fighters) should have decontamination built in. When your already in the ship it's too late. Even radiation is contamination, if we have special suits for it, then there should be a way to decontaminate it. I hope when decompression is a thing, CIG will take this into consideration when going to gold standard.

"Fleet Admirals, Captains, In addition to the specialized exploration drone, I'd like to suggest the incorporation of medium and heavy construction and demolition drones into our fleet. These drones would play a crucial role in clearing debris, constructing operational bases, and creating structures to support our expeditionary operations. With the ability to operate in hazardous environments and handle heavy-duty tasks, these drones would significantly enhance our capabilities in establishing and maintaining a presence in remote or hostile regions. They could also lay the groundwork for more specialized mining drones to operate semi-autonomously, supporting our efforts in resource extraction and exploration. By expanding our drone fleet to include construction and demolition capabilities, we'll be better equipped to tackle the challenges of exploration and ensure the success of our missions. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I look forward to discussing it further and exploring the possibilities it presents for our expeditionary operations. Best regards, Commodore Meridoen

Well done, Now where to start. This is my main ship and could talk for hrs lol. We will just tac on a couple of points. I think the most important thing is the speed of the ship, you briefly touched on this but not how important it truly is. With Large ships come large signatures, and you will be found. The Carrack has fighter speed, No your not gonna be out maneuvering anything but at a straight line haul ass you can out distance most fighter envoys. This allows you to pick and choose your encounters. As a Opportunist, versatility is everything and I think the EVA access is overlooked a lot. It is a amazing on board staging area. The hanger cant hold a saber as many point out, but it can hold a razer and more importantly serval dragon flies for the EVA staging area. Whether it is a take over or a exploration party, being able to quickly put 6 guys on target is important . Ok just a couple of quick hand in hand theory craft for drones and modules. will start with mining drones and refining modules, pretty self explanatory. Then I like the idea of planet side drones. soil and fauna samples and so on, pared with a science lab as a module could be vey cool.

Impressive video, doing the Carrack justice for sure. I’d say the Pisces is a much better choice for the Carrack than the Aurora LN, it has two additional seats for away missions, it has easier cargo loading for any loot you might find. Having a bed doesn’t really matter, it’s not like you’re going to sleep in your shuttle when you have a Carrack nearby.

Your ship review videos are the best on KZread. The guy who does the "architect reviews" (or something like that) gets second place IMO. His videos are amazing as well; much better than I had anticipated. I thought it would be like those "doctor reacts to far cry healing animations" junk, but it pleasantly surprised me. If I could only watch one ship review video, I would pick yours every time. I saw your Banu Merchantman video a few months ago (I think). Then I saw your Perseus video. Now I'm watching this one. Still don't know what your channel name is, but your voice is just so damn recognisable. You really do the ships justice with your videos. It feels like you are genuinely interested in the subject and excited about every aspect of every ship. While typing this, I was at the point in the video where you talked about the leather sofa. I wanted to sink my ass into that thing like I was the Titanic. No other ship review video would have made me appreciate that sofa. That's the kind of thing that makes your channel deserve the gold medal in the ship review olympics. Keep making videos, please!

I'm looking for a ship that's a mobile base that can fulfill expeditionary needs. Kraken seems like an amazing ship for that but it's a bit too big. Carrack is another obvious choice but a little small and the ship bay is a little small. Hoping we get something in between and I do believe there's 2 ships on the roadmap that fit that for me but until then the carrack is a great choice. 890 jump could technically fit that space but it's utility is quite lacking especially for it's size. There's just too much fluff and not enough get stuff done for my taste.

There is 1 thing i think the carrack lacks. We all need to think about earth to space etc or planet etc etc. What are things a lot of researchers want to do? Bring back samples and study them. Now is it me or does the carack lack a dedicated room for researching samples/rocks or biological data? I think it wouldve been cool to send out the drones. Collect samples and study a planet and then study those samples adding them to databanks and expanding the knowledge by integrating it with the servers so there acctually is another reason for data running. But that might just be me

Personally, I'm thinking of a very specialized exploration drone meant for reconnaissance and field survey and ultralight demolition/construction operations in hazardous or otherwise less accessable debris fields and subterranean networks where a delicate and cautious approach might be required for obtaining samples, specimens, or other data either. It might sonetimes be used for convenience, vut more often than not becasue of dangers that environmental or identification hazards might present the crew. Perhaps you need a sample of a virulent toxic mold from a cave deep in a region you're contracted to perform a geological survey on, or maybe you've encountered a small nomadic tribal low intelligence sapient septapedal species and wish to return a triaged adolescent specimen that the away team unfortunately injured. Rarher than reveal our nature to them, and potentially spoil their destined evolutionary developmental track, as an added measure of separation, we return the being via the exploration drone. As for the leak sparking light, don't worry skipper, those are an intentionally value-added feature 100% necessary to the smooth operation of engineering. They're meant to remind crew the dangers of complacency. Sure, they could be fixed but then the crew are much more likely to rest on their under the presumption that the environment is safe, and such a thing should never be done in engineering. The moment anyone in the bay takes anything for granted is the moment a 3 ton crate cuddles your new Ensign. As for the Gravity Ball, to answer question: nanostream. 🫡

Biggest problem with the Carrack is all the manned turrets. Top & Bottom turrets need to be automatic (point defence) Otherwise you’re looking at a 6 man ship with four people in turrets, one flying and the captain. Where’s your engineer? Doctor? Uses up to many crew on turrets we don’t need them all, keep the side turrets, lose the top and Bottom make them automatic defence turrets.

  • @Spaceman-PIN

    @Spaceman-PIN

It's not a problem at all. You could either pay NPCs to sit in the turrets or use blades in the ships computer to make them automated.

@@Spaceman-PIN Yes, but why torture yourself *now*? You could always switch QDs when the systems that require it are in. But considering the Carrack has enough fuel to jump the entirety of Pyro with a Pontes, I really see no reason to go slow. First off congrats ! You need to physically fly those ships into the carrack hangar. Ground vehicles can be retrieved from most mining areas on a planet, when you qt jump mining areas are depicted by dashed hexagons. When you arrive you'll see two small size landing pads for ground vehicles. Also microtech has a dedicated vehicle bay at the capital.

Admittedly, the Carrack is an awesome ship for every kind of play style! But that’s why I hate it, no other ship compares and I find that annoying, why isn’t there a competitor that is relatively the same size that can fulfill the multi-role modularity and capabilities that the Carrack has? The Odyssey had an opportunity to do this, but falls short on that , adding only a Mining laser for quantanium fuel to, what? Travel farther than the Carrack?

Well allow me to explain. Cig are currently working on server meshing a tech they have had to build from the ground up. Once this is achieved cig will then be able to add more systems and planets which will require jump points in order to travel around different systems. Once server meshing is stable and fully implemented and we have more systems, we will begin to see larger multicrew ships in the verse. For eg polaris. Stanton will not be the only system if all goes to plan. Pyro is the next system on the agenda and hopefully we will be "exploring" that system very soon.

if i remember right, the original plan is to have 100 star systems in the game. as far as the lore is concerned only 30+ of them are controlled by the UEE, while the rest are either no-mans land, or alien territory. they could very well add more than the original 100 in the future like what eve online has done, but im not holding my breath since it took 11 years just for stanton to get to where it is now.. hopefully with the new building blocks and procedural generation tech that they now have they can progressively make them faster and faster over time, otherwise i'll have grandchildren by the time this game is done!
