Paul, I just want to thank you for what you do. I’ve always lamented that all the books will show you the “how” but never the “why”. The way you equate theory to real life examples is super helpful to me as someone who’s always trying to learn more about the instrument I love. ❤

Love triads. So many different inversions you can play but all so powerful

You really deserve more recognition. You 're one of the best bass playing resources on KZread. Love how you are able to keep it simple while at the same teaching valuable theory that can be found elsewhere, but with a much dryer and frankly boring approach. Keep rocking Paul!

Another great video Paul! I love my triads or arpeggios. So so very useful. Knowing them, and you can build so many different bass lines. And I've used them quite a bit on my original material. Thanks for sharing!

I remember writing a bass solo in high school for my Grade 12 music exam and took a lot of inspiration from Anesthesia and Cliff Burton, only difference was that I wrote the riff in 6/4 (which part of me was even surprised I could do at 18, I was just having fun at the time) and so much so that I even snuck in a little nod to The Four Horsemen and ended up called it Cliffhanger, it’s still one of my proudest (not to mention favourite) riffs that I’ve ever come up with on either bass or guitar and I got into of the highest marks in the class for it (Looking back I don’t think or even know if my music teacher was even into Metallica or picked up on the vibe, but I do remember he was quite impressed with the overall piece)

well, it's not rock, but we can hear triads all the time in gaucho music. It usually starts on the third, then fifth, then root. But I never knew how to call it, hahaha. Thanks for recording this video
