    Another great comparison video. I really liked it. Don't worry about camera falls/fails it happens. To be honest I knew what happened, but your editing was well enough that had you not mentioned it some would never have known. Also, I shot some footage of me sighting in my LVT from this past Sunday. It is just with a cheap scope in order to get me shooting the gun. It doesn't compare to my home built target 10/22 yet. I have a trigger group I'll put in it that has been upgraded with the Volquartzen target hammer kit and while in there I'll swap out the buffer too. When I get a proper scope on it I am sure it will tighten up even more than it already is. Based on your video, I need to try some of the Eley and Norma Tac to see how they do. Right now I've just been shooting the Federal Auto Match since they tend to do quite well in my rifle. Thanks again for the video!!

    The Norma TAC22 has been a pleasant surprise. I can get it very reasonably priced and it is very accurate in all my .22 handguns and rifles. More interesting to me is that it functions perfectly in my High Standard Supermatic Citation. That is a marvelous pistol, but can be a stubborn jam-o-matic with some ammunition. We (my wife and I) also use CCI Standard velocity for most of our target shooting. My wife has one rifle (a CZ457) that gives it's best groups with Wolf Match Target, but that ammo is a little pricey for general shooting. CCI standard velocity is another reasonably priced accurate ammo. I just ordered 1000 rounds of Aguila standard velocity to try. I haven't see any reviews on it yet.

    Thanks for watching gary K! The Tac-22 has also worked well with many of my rifles. But I do have one subscriber who claims it doesn't cycle through some of his. Just goes to show how picky 22s can be. CCI Standard is usually my default unless I am going for very accurate shooting. Then I switch to Eley. Haven't tried Wolf Match Target but hear great things from everyone who uses it. Hope you and your wife's guns like the Aguila

    @@texmexshoots We'll see. The TAC-22 is "standard velocity" and _some_ semi-autos don't always function well with that ammo. The High Standard is designed for standard velocity ammo (it is not recommended for HV ammo) and that may be the difference. Yes, .22 firearms are notoriously picky. FWIW, the Wolf Match Target has been the most accurate ammo in my wife's rifle. It used to be made in Russia. Then Eley was making it and I understand that it is now made by SK. CCI Standard velocity is our usual ammo for general shooting.

    Hey Texican, finally put together my LVT Ruger 22! Have to say it looks nice after months of watching you fire yours. Also it's heavy, can tell it's longer too after having an 18" barrel for a long time. Not only that it's a well balanced rifle, I placed in in my palm of my hand and was steady. But before I installed it I cleaned it and after running a patch through it it had a strange reddish tan color to it on the first patch. I'm gonna try the CCI Standard Velocity first then the Remington Thunderbolt ammo. ONLY two lead rds I have for the 22lr. I'll need to replace the swivels cause it has a loop or buckle swivel. Can't install my Harris Bipod to it & they can't be removed (buckle/loop thingy).

    Glad you finally got it put together! I'm sure you will have a great time shooting it. I suppose it is possible the stuff the patch picked up was from either test firing from the factory or maybe some rust protectant they put on before shipping to the distributors. I expect the standard velocity is going to shoot well out of your rifle. Never tried the Rem Thunderbolts so let me know how they do!

    Congrats Lawrence on the LVT. I myself just picked up a 2022 model from my local gun store. I shot some video footage of it on the 26th and will get a video of it up hopefully by the weekend or first of next week. Again congrats on your build. I have one 10/22 that I built that is a straight up tack driver. I'll have to compare it to the LVT after I get a decent scope on the LVT. I have a cheap scope on it right now just to get me shooting it.

    I was skeptical on Norma Tac-22 especially when ive seen it on sale at $6 down from $13.99 for pack of 50. Did my own testing at indoor range and had same results. (I used GSG 15 & Ruger Precision) Im shocked it actually performs better than Eley and CCI. Def picking up 1000 rounds or so next time its $6CAD/ per box of 100

    Thanks for watching 360 Adventures! I agree, it was quite a surprise to me as well. I hadn't ever used Norma prior to 2022. Now I have a bunch! Although I still hear from the occasional shooter that their particular rifles might not like it as much. Might be due to the coating that it has (similar to Eley), that causes some ejection failures for some people. For me it has become a standard like CCI.

    First up, thank you for doing the video. If you do some shooting; it is more than likely you have a Ruger 10-22 rifle minds is about 30 years old, and it has mostly seen the closet less than 200 rounds fired in rifle; the 22 caliber rifle, to me, a very unimpressive cartridge fodder. I'm viewing looking to purchase a bolt action rifle, my search continues.

    If you are looking at bolt action 22lr, I highly suggest a cz 457. Don't count the 10-22 out, put a scope on it and go have some fun shooting, you can always swap it to another rifle down the line. 22 is the cheapest ammo at sub 10 cents a round. I prefer 40 grain lead 22lr bullets like Aguila super extra blue/yellow box. Put a 4 to 6" target at 50 and 100 yards and have fun.

    The Norma tac has been in stock at my academy for about the last 2 years, it’s expensive! Like 9.99 a box here normally I shoot cci standard vel. But it hasn’t been in stock steadily so I’ve been paying more for the Norma. In my testing the Norma is slightly more accurate than the cci standard out of multiple rifles. Is it worth the price? You decide. It truly is very accurate. Closer to Eley than to SV in my opinion.

  • @texmexshoots

    @texmexshoots

    2 жыл бұрын

    I agree. Out of a few of my rifles it did compete with Eley. And at 9.99 a box, the price difference would be negligible. SV seems to be a good standard to go by, and tends to shoot well out of semi-auto pistols and rifles. But Norma seems more consistent.

    Ignoring the 2022 Norma "brand" due to recent recalls (9mm/223/308) for a moment... the Norma 22lr here Tac-22 has been *widely* regarded well. (1) It's greasy as heck [But Aguila smells like burnt windex] (2) It isn't 100% clean-firing [IIRC that wax gunks up gun] (3) It's pricier/harder to get [than Aguila 40gr HV] Price delta (as of this moment) is +$8/1k (+12%) between Aguila SE 40gr and Norma Tac-22. I recommend trying the 40gr HV Aguila Super Extra too.

    You actually did do this, with the 38gr ones, same one as I! As you note, the transonic effects may mean Norma is better for precision/LR rimfires. However I was looking around for a new standard due to Aguila SE 38gr HP malfunctions, FTF's, and jams during Steel Challenge with semiauto PCC. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXqdptuMj6jYgJs.html

    Maybe the misfire was the spring in the BX 10 is not wind up tight enough. After I clean mine I wind up and test with two or three rds of ammo. It takes couple of times taking it apart and setting it till it has a nice firm wind to it. Only have one out of five again like the last one, the CCI SV. Surprised the bolt didn't do so well on them. Please don't speed up on the LVT when firing it, only on the bolt. Another great comparison video. Should spray one more on your ammo can, TEX MEX LVT.

    Thanks for the info Lawrence! That certainly is a possibility. I think the main reason I can not shoot the bolt as well as the LVT is due to the scopes involved. 12X vs 9x at 50 yards makes a big difference in how precise I can aim on the target. The LVT is my favorite rimfire rifle I have. It makes me look good!
