Stand By Me (1986) MOVIE REACTION FIRST TIME WATCHING

Ойын-сауық

STAND BY ME MOVIE REACTION! Today I'll be watching a film I have never seen before Stand By Me released in 1986 for the first time. Watch the ENTIRE Movie with me? Check out: / timotheereacts
After learning that a stranger has been accidentally killed near their rural homes, four Oregon boys decide to go see the body. On the way, Gordie Lachance (Wil Wheaton), Vern Tessio (Jerry O'Connell), Chris Chambers (River Phoenix) and Teddy Duchamp (Corey Feldman) encounter a mean junk man and a marsh full of leeches, as they also learn more about one another and their very different home lives. Just a lark at first, the boys' adventure evolves into a defining event in their lives.

Fun Fact: When asked what’s the best movie he’s directed, Director Rob Reiner says it’s this one and Stephen King actually said it’s the best film adapted from his works

Now that I'm nearly 50 and a parent, I cry so hard at the end of this film. Seen it dozens of times starting back in '87 when I was ten. One of the few VHS tapes I had that wasn't a dub from a rental. Owned the soundtrack, too and played it constantly.

This movie is lowkey one of my favorite movies. Everything about it is so well done. It's a roller-coaster of emotions and the ending is bittersweet. It somehow tackles how even kids have adult sized real world problems, while also making you nostalgic for your own childhood. And the themes of brotherhood and friendship, fantastic!

This is one of the best Stephen King adaptations ever, all of the young actors are excellent, River Phoenix especially…..R.I.P.

This film, has the distinct honor of being the first film to make me cry at the age of thirteen. 21:54 Just this whole scene, of a kid being so broke down because no one believes in him, because his from a bad family and he KNOWS that's all he'll be known for, is heartbreaking. A young man crying to his best friend, who knows the pain and cries with him, that's friendship.

Chris and I weren't so different as kids. Came from horrible backgrounds, were judged because of whom we were related to and told we'd never make it out and would get scared it might be true. But we did get out and made something of ourselves. And above all, we were the best friends to those who needed that kind of loyalty. R.I.P. River Phoenix

I lived a life in Territorial Hawaii in the 1950's that was very much like this movie. My older sister played most of the songs from this movie on her 45 single player. Summer in Aiea was long, hot, and full of adventure. Our Boy Scout troop hiked into Halawa valley for overnight camp outs where we used Halazone tablets (Sodium Hypochlorite) on river water. We rode bicycles, walked, or caught a ride around Aiea town. I see that you haven't officially watched "Firefly" or "The Iron Giant."

In the short story all the other kids died not just Chris, because all of Stephen Kings childhood friends died young. But they felt, I thibk rightfully, for the movie that would have just felt too absurd This is the first King film he liked, he cried during the private screening and they thought maybe they messed up but then King said the kids were just like his friends

Great movie. This movie is always kind of sad considering Reaver Phonix died in real life. Another great kid adventure movie is Flight Of The Navigator . A great coming of age movie (With older people not kids) no one reacted to is Big Wednesday. This movie is a Steven King book adaption. Another good adaption is The Running Man a great action movie with Arnold Swarchenger you should see.

  • @TothanCrawk

The book heavily implies Ray Brower was murdered. Gordie points out the the placement of his body and injuries don't line up with being hit by a train, and his shoes were nowhere to be found along with the basket of berries that he was last seen with. Also in the book, not just Chris but everyone besides Gordie died young, which makes me wonder if that part with them flipping coins was meant to be some kind of legit omen.

😎👍 In addition to playing Hooper in "Jaws" and Roy Neary in "Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind," Richard Dreyfuss was also the voice of the Centipede in "James & The Giant Peach." The guy has had a prolific 60 year career in show business that is still going strong. If you decide to check out his IMDB page, prepare to do a lot of scrolling.
