Stan is a fucking legend

So much appreciation for Stan & his legacy. I admire his respect for DC comics. -Yeah, he'll poke a lil fun, pretending to despise them even, but only in good fun. Him & Bob Kane (creator of Batman) were good buds. There's even an enjoyable youtube vid of those 2 discussing comics together. Sadly, Mr. Kane passed in 98, just a few yrs before Marvel characters exploded onto the big screen.. As far as superhero films go, Batman easily dominated the earlier 90s, & Kane tended to tease Stan Lee on that, but Lee never seemed to take it personally. -Especially now :) If only Kane lived to see his buddy's turn in the sun.

Actually FF was based on Jack Kirby's Comic called Challengers of The Unknown and Stan Lee lied about coming up with the idea

They did X-Men/Teen Titans in the 80s and Avengers/JLA (and then Amalgam) in the 90s. Seek them out! X-Men/Teen Titans shifted comics in a big way and Avengers/JLA's George Perez artwork is incredible!

Sadly what he said about reading becoming a lost art is true. Newspapers, Libraries ect. are slowly being replaced by the internet and E-books. Personally I don't think anything would replace a good old fashioned hardback book, especially Kindle and that shit. I rather love the smell of old books and the soft sound of a turning page, but hey that is just me! :)

Sounds like bullshit to me. Marvel occasionally gets dissed for its films but people always talk shit about marvels comic events and even call a lot of their characters ripoffs when half of them were made before or are nothing like the characters they so called ripoff. DC gets shitted on for their really bad movies and even the really good ones but their comics are critically acclaimed and many of them are considered classics. I would say dc and marvel both get an equal amount of shit for no reason.

Guys, it's very simple. There have been a shit ton of Marvel films compared to a small handful of DC films in the last 10 years or so. It helps that the actors care about their films and even put in an extra effort (nothing against the performances or personalities of guys like Christian Bale, Ryan Reynolds, etc.) in promoting the entire series/Universe. When there is a stronger number of DC films out at a given window of time, we might see more DC guys talk shit about Marvel (or the Marvel fans). If more people were into all of the books and less with the movies, this wouldn't even be a discussion/argument/silly debate. Both are American institutions, and one happens to be owned by friggin' Disney.

I love that Stan Lee is one of the few creators in manga/comics that I see in cameos for his own movies. He still is a major influence in the media of comic books.

Lol I was exactly like you at once in my life but I actually gave DC a chance and I know DC characters are supposedly "OP" that's why I liked marvel better but DC characters are so much more than godlike, their characters are very uplifting giving you a sense of joy whenever they do something heroic :) If you haven't watched justice league animated series I suggest you start there :)

Yeah, I just watched Age of Ultron, and it changed my mind completely. Ultron and the Vision are awesome, and so is Thor and Loki, and Iron Man. And the Guardians of the Galaxy. And Thanos. And Xmen. Concerning the era when I collected comics, I loved the Buscema Brothers work on the Sub-Mariner, and Silver Surfer, Jack Kirby-FF, Herb Trimpe, especially when John Severin inked -the Hulk, Gil Kane and John Romita Spider-Man, Neal Adams era X-Men, Gene Colon-DareDevil, then came the new guys like Barry Smith-Conan. One D.C artist I loved was Berni Wrightson for his work on Swamp Thing.

Everyone gives Kevin Feige credit which he does deserve, but let us not forget Stan "The Man" Lee is also behind the scenes, providing more than just the reason behind MARVEL's success today but more importantly the very reason we love the characters we now know and is also directly responsible for the characters we are yet to see. Providing us with a life time of joy and inspiration long after this man has left this world.

Back in the 1970's I was in grade school and like so many kids then I collected comics. I was a only child and I would read my books over and over and get lost in the stories. I have nothing against DC but the marvel characters were better for me. When all the kids loved spider man,hulk,batman,superman Iron Man was my favorite. Thor,Avengers,FF,Hulk were close second. Times were just different then, never dreamed in my 40's the heros would finally come to life on the big screen. Stan is such a beloved man. His energy to this day is amazing . Thanks Stan for making my childhood one of a kind👍.

Zaire Johnson Superman's only weakness beyond kryptonite is magic. Thor's hammer... about as magic as you get. I agree with all of your others except maybe Iron Man and Batman. Batman LOVES using those EMP's and hacker skills! He's shut that armor DOWN! Great list though! And hell yeah on the DBZ being OP!

We all know about Jack Kirby. He's a legend. I suggest finding a copy of Marvel Comics: The Untold Story. It's a great book all about the history of Marvel... both good and bad!

are you kidding me? nobody knows? true comic book fans know and/or figure out that Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby are geniuses without Stan Lee and Without Steve or Jack , stan lee is useless and talentless. unless you count Ravage and Striperella!! i dont count those at all. stan sucks big lying sausages.

I'm afraid you misunderstood. I wanted to say that artists like Jack and Ditko deserve more fame! Even people who are not into comic books know about Stan Lee, but they don't know about Jack Kirby!

I cant wait for him in deadpool and id sure as hell love to see how his cameo would go in the flash thompson venom movie should the universe ever let it come to be
