    When it comes to quick weekend getaways, what is top priority for you? Finding epic campsite views, maybe relaxing enjoying a good book, or throwing down on a nice meal at camp? Let's chat about it!

    For me, it’s combination of the scenery/views and the actual trails/tracks I take to get there (being interesting and fun to drive). Getting away from strangers/civilization for a bit doesn’t hurt either. Great video sir! Thank you.

    I will sometimes take my little cj7 on the Horse Heaven Hills with a few friends from church. Just doing some mild stuff. The jeep is very worn down with almost 220,000 miles on it so I don't want to push it too far. Still have great times in it and try to take it on as many camping trips as possible. Great video! Nice to see Washingtonians on youtube!

    I too picked up a Garmin Mini, last year on a summer solo camping trip, and has proven to be a phenomenal buy. Not only for the emergency use, but when far from cell towers, being able to get the weather forecast and send a message to my wife from my phone and have a GPS/map solution, is priceless. Well worth the monthly fee.

    @@ConquestOverland @Bee Chan Excellent video! Your video shows how beautiful this pass is! Next time you go out there could you do a video while driving or hiking that forest road (FR 5200?) underneath the trestle? Did you know that forest road that you drove underneath the railroad trestle was once the original mainline? It led to a long lost town named Weston. There's not much information out there about the town. All i know is that it was once the western counterpart to the town of Easton on the Stampede Line and was extremely important in getting the trains over the mountain grade. The town seemed to have disappeared sometime after the Lester Trestle was completed and when Lester was used by the NP as the western point to help get trains over the mountain. Again, not much information is out there and very few people know anything about Weston and i'd like to find out more about it. Not much is left but I have heard that the forest road underneath the Lester Trestle was once the original NP mainline and led to Weston a few miles upstream. Somehow the line climbed back up that forest road (i think the FR 5200 that went back up the hill just south of the trestle is part of the original mainline) and joined the current mainline I think about 400 or so feet just east of the trestle (if you go up there and look closely you can almost see where the the cut/road bed came back in). Anyway, would love for you to do a video while hiking that FR 5200 road and find the remnants of Weston! Maybe do a video while hiking or driving that forest road from Lester, alongside the river, underneath the trestle, to the clearing that was once Weston, and back up the forest road that was once part of the road bed to the original mainline to where it connected back to the current mainline. If you can do a video about this it would be awesome because there are very few alive today that know anything about it!

    Just found your channel CO...it took me a few minutes watching till like 5:40 min mark, when you raised your drone behind your truck to realize the spot you were at. Yeah, I have been there numerous times since 2017. That big pile of old logged trees behind, when you climb to the top there, looking straight ahead is what it's called Kelley's Bute mountain. Next time you there, get your binoculars out. There is a fire watch tower on top. You can even see it with the naked eye. I have spend many nights on top of that ridge where you started you video. It's a hard place to find for someone that has never drove through these cascade mountains. Maybe I see you there one day.

    Nice trip! July 31-8/1 I did Greenwater to I-90 via Tacoma Pass (just a bit East of Stampede). It's such a weird patchwork of squares of NF land and ravaged logged land up there. I also was surprised at how few riverside campsites I found. My trek was 94 miles pavement to pavement. I love that Tailgater. I find it very useful in an SUV to hold stuff as I take things in and out of the truck. Particularly useful to keep stuff out of the wet in our climate. We also use it as a cooking surface for lunch - eat on my Alps table. You just beat me to the Outland Fire Pit. My family has been hounding me about it for a year. Can't wait to use it.

  • @ConquestOverland

    @ConquestOverland

    3 жыл бұрын

    Haven't done the Tacoma pass myself, definitely will need to check that out one day. Agreed, there are very few riverside spots, especially any worthwhile. On this trip I saw a couple opportunities but the water level was very low and looked more like a mosquito buffet. I do have to say for the very first use of the Tire Table I love it! It will pair nicely once we get the GFC and awning. Plan will be to have it where I can easily access items through the side door opening of the GFC all while staying out of the rain under the awning. I can definitely see the massive benefits for an SUV, almost have your very our "tailgate" at that point. You guys will love the fire pit. So nice to have the flexibility of mobility. If it rains heavy or snows you can move it under the awning and still enjoy a warm fire while being nice and dry! Thank you again for the continued support, means a lot!

Mostly 2 wheel adventures before but I’ve recently picked up a Lexus gx460 I’ll be turning into an overland rig and can’t wait to get out and see more of this awesome state and do some camping. Thank you very much for the continued support! Sounds like you have the best of both worlds, very nice with the Lexus pick up. Lifestyle Overland has the same and it looks incredible with the few mods done. As far as the locations go I do like to keep them from spreading to the general masses for obvious reasons but if you follow the original Stampede Pass trail its one of the very last side roads before you jump onto I-90. Pull up Gaia GPS or Google Maps and I'll guarantee you can find it. There is a lot to explore in the area and I've barley scratched the surface... Have fun with the Lexus build and thank you again for the support!

    It definitely was, I've camped like that numerous times before and slept great! I would start by downloading the Gaia GPS app (subscription based, but well worth it) and learn as much as you can. I plan to make videos regarding how I use it for finding camp and planning trips, but in the meantime @LifestyleOverland has several awesome videos that have helped me tremendously when I first started. Along with that I would use Google Earth in conjunction, very helpful to get a sense for the "lay of the land" prior to heading out. Lastly, for simply finding great trails I've used Trails Offroad which gives a great starting point to not only explore trails throughout the country but also have an opportunity for finding nearby camps as well. Watching your videos makes me want to do less orv parks and more overlanding/exploring because it’s more peaceful, less likely to break parts on my SUVs, better views, and I can spend quality alone time with my girlfriend and son.
