Stalled - 2022 Kia K5 & How I Handled It

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Recently, I performed a brief pull against a Civic Si on the road. Even though it didn’t pull off the win, the K5 drove well as always. Until I got off the highway to talk with my new Civic Si friend, then the car stalled and wouldn’t restart. I sat for awhile and eventually the car would restart and I could continue to make my way home.
However, then this stalling issue happened again a few days later. And again while I was on the highway. I began losing power and had to coast off the road at the nearest exit. Once there, my engine light finally came on along with a touchscreen warning, and I called a tow to pick me up. The tow sent by Kia was moving way too slow, so I had to call my insurance and my family came and picked me up.
Once at the dealer, the car was driven and I was told there were no defects to be found - everything is brand new. They appear to be right, because since then, my K5 has not stalled again. Thus - I believe I put some BAD GAS in the tank, because I use midgrade sometimes. Having bad gas will cause you to stall too. If you have a K5 like me, use midgrade gas when you can.l
Like, comment and subscribe and let me know if you have any experiences with stalling. If it ever happens to you, check your surroundings and make sure you can get off the road safely.

www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a39814400/2022-kia-sorento-sx-reliability-maintenance/ Something interesting I’ve noticed - Car and Driver also had stalling trouble out of their brand new Sorento 2.5T. Ironically, it was when they were driving down the highway just like my K5 and their Sorento went into a “limp home mode”, just like my car too. After they let the car sit awhile and rest, it restarted no problem and the stalling issue has never occurred again. This is EXACTLY what happened to my K5. Car and Driver has also had some transmission and brake woes with their Sorento, but I don’t have the 8-speed DCT on my K5 and my brakes are still like they were on day 1 when I drove it home - I have 12,000 miles now with no other major issues/failures to report. Although, my panoramic sunroof does make creaking noises going over big bumps…

Just curious but why mid-grade gas?

It seems to run smoother (no hiccups), though the overall performance is largely the same.

@@missladyscastle7247 You're welcome, and yes, I would! Its been fine since putting midgrade in it and overall, the K5 has been a great car. I love the technology in it and the panoramic sunroof. I have had it a year now and with AWD, its perfect for northern climates if you don't want an SUV. Also, it starts a lot of conversations in parking lots due to its styling!

@@AdamRichardsonAdamsAutosBlog thanks for the info! I've been thinking about getting the 2023 gt-line AWD but in St. Louis they only have FWD I guess I'll have to custom order it

@@missladyscastle7247 You’re welcome! It’s a great car that’s worth the wait, I would just do my research and make sure you don’t pay any markups (or a very small one if it’s completely unavoidable…). The AWD models do seem to be a little more uncommon than FWD ones, but I sent an email to my salesman - since he had previously sold me a Telluride - and he was able to help reserve me an incoming K5 AWD. So I would advise you to do that, start by calling your dealer and have them check their incoming inventory for an AWD model you can reserve before making a custom order.
