Stalking roe deer .223rem 55gr GMX - culling the weak.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hunting roe deer. For a strong and healthy deer population, you must always cull the weakest and smallest deer.
Jagt på rådyr. For at opnå en sund og stærk bestand, giver det god mening altid at afskyde de mindste og svageste dyr først.

    Hello Morten, Great video! How do you find the 55gr GMX for blood trails if you have to track? Does it usually leave anything on the ground? Thank you!

    Nice choice of ammo to harvest smaller deer without wasting meat. 👍 Also, I love to see that dog having so much fun. I used to have a yellow lab that loved going hunting with me.

    Are you satisfied with that ammunition for .223 Remington or is there other ammo that you would prefer based on your experience?

    I think it performs very well. Very little meat waste, and the expansion is perfect. Some have dropped on the spot, and some have run 20m. But that can happen with a larger caliber as well.

    Curious with a deer like that in poor health, is the meat still edible? Love your dog Btw! I had an English Black Lab that looked exactly like him.

    Yes, this was just small and weak, so not much meat. But it is always advisable to make sure the organs look healthy, and to look for infected wounds, that could dammage the meat.

    Hey man, what would be your opinion on .223 vs .243 on shooting foxes and roe deer? Thanks

  • @MortenSchultzHunting

    @MortenSchultzHunting

    Hi. If I had to choose one rifle only I would go for the .243, it has a lot more power and is very capable of taking smaller deer such as roe deer. Actually a .308 case necked down from .30 to .24, so very fast and flat shooting.

    Good hit. I try to smash both shoulders plus l always put in a second. Here in Canada we. are not allowed to use adog which is too bad because it saves on wasted game. Some guys give up too soon and just go look for another one to shoot🇨🇦🤠

    Oh, here most hunters have a dog, and if you hunt flying game with a shotgun, you must have a trained hunting dog along, thats the law. It is often a great help when hunting with a rifle. Thanks for watching and commenting. Best regards

    Hunting laws are so strange. In germany it is mandatory to search with a trained dog if you shot something and can not find it. On water fowl hunts you are forced to hunt with a trained dog.

    Here is for roe deer, minimum 800 joule at 100m. And 3,2g projectile if I remember correct. But any bigger deer species, you have to go much bigger like 6,5 x 55 and up.
