I love these boxes but I feel that if they are full I can't lift them. Also their sharp edges are not best for putting inside car. My father used to use a leather Doctor's bag for his mobile tools. Even a full doctor bag is easy to lift and can be thrown into a car's leather seat or carpet without hurting anything. Sometimes my trunk is full and some tools have to go in the cabin. Doctor bag is small, but I intend to have two or three of them, plus use Hazet socket set boxes, such as 905 for half inch, and Hazet Smartcases for the smaller sizes. And a duffel bag for power tools. I dislike plastic boxes, so hopefully smartcases will one day be replaced by Hazet metal boxes which they no longer make but I am finding them slowly in NOS condition. I wanted the Hazet 905 like you but I didn't want that foam interior (plus they took out the big speeder handle from the new sets. In the old version you can see a place for the speeder handle but it isn't there). SO I waited until I found a dealer on feebay who had a Hazet 905 set from year 2001 and got that one, it has the old blue plastic tray interior and the big speeder handle. The best thing about it is all the tools are chromed with Hexavalent Chromium, which is much shinier, much more durable, and has a much brighter colour. When I compare those year 2001 sockets next to Hazet new sockets, the new ones seem like dull nickel plating. But the new ones are trivalent chrome the EU enforces a ban on the better hex chrome. Be mindful on Amazon hazet prices change a lot. I have seen 905 set from $350 to $700 on amazon US and amazon DE.

I agree with you these cantilever box get heavier when filled with the tools. leather doctor's bag are good option just like duffle bags for saving weights but organization doesn't fit my preference. I like more of metal boxes. Metal boxes would be perfect for smart cases if hazet offers in the future which I highly doubt. Plastic boxes are no no for me. I would love to have old 905 box with speeder handle but couldn't find them. For chrom dull nickel vs Hexavalent, I totally agree with you. I have found one old Hazet tool box from 80s which seems as you said brighter and shinier and somewhat durable than the new one. I am thinking to make a video on Old vs New Hazet tool box. Good know about hexavalent vs trivalent chrome on new ones. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Have you considered using Sortimo L-BOXX for mobile work tool storage? Stahlwille, Hazet, Gedore, Knipex, etc. has L-BOXXes. These are stackable and splashproof.

Hi trust you well I'm from south africa...I have an old stahlwille ring spanners set...some of them have Germany or made in Germany and a few don't have this mark...is there a reason and have you seen this before...it's open box 13 series

Yes, it's totally fine. I got the same 13 series set and only one have made in Germany stamped. As long as you bought these wrenches from proper dealer or seller its just fine. But mind you, there are fake from China on internet and difference between real and fake one is quite evident.

I have a long cantilever toolbox made by Unior, model 912/5. It holds all my tools and i can disassemble a whole car with it. But it’s too heavy to carry it around in the car so i was thinking to buy a short 3 tray version of this Stahlwille box just for the basic stuff. First tough was the Gedore version but that is 3 times more expensive. About 150 Euro for 3 kilogram’s of steel. 😅

You are right, these cantilever boxes are usually quite heavy specially when loaded. My hazet box is also quite heavy. This particular model from Stahlwille is slightly smaller and less heavier than the Hazet box. I am loving this Stahlwille box now and I also take it with my for smaller jobs. I was considering to get one from Gedore too but can't justify the price, way too expensive.

@@carrepairandtoolsvideos Yeah the Gedore toolboxes are too expensive but they are very very good with excellent quality. They are made in Austria and they have a unique look, you can’t mistake them for something else. Can you please say me does the Stahlwille box has that stamped bottom, like stands so it doesn’t touch the floor with the whole size?

@@user-ko9jd7dm9o Price is the only thing stopping me to buy the Gedore Box otherwise it would be nice to have a quality box (made in Austria) from Gedore. As for as your question is concerned, this Stahlwille box does not have those bottom spot stand which is shame. It touches the whole box to the ground. I forgot to mentioned about it in the video. However, Hazet box had it and I like it. Wish Stahlwille does the same.

a plastic box with multiple layers of foam organizers is much better.. UPD. I just had in mind the author's case. A cantilever box in a personal car is not the best option. It tears up the interior of the car. Tears clothes. The organization is poor, tools are lost. Dirt and water get in and promote rust. This type of box is well suited for storage on a shelving unit or in a work van. For large, heavy items that do not need to be carried far. Everyone has their own experience, I want to say who wants to carry weights and have back problems, it’s your choice. There are many good professional quality lightweight boxes made of plastic or aluminum, and more affordable ones. You can make a foam tray and get a well-organized, lightweight box. Or use a collapsible tool cart. The steel box must have wheels

Tried that for the last two decades. Going back to metal boxes. You can find them at garage sales and thrift stores. Fifty years old and still solid, as long and they aren't left to rust in the rain.

@vitaliir448, well that depends on the application. If your tools are mostly made of plastics maybe that's OK, your plastic toolbox will be OK. My tools are mostly steel (Wrenches, Sockets, Ratchets, Breaker Bars, Prybars etc), therefore steel toolboxes are more practical (strong enough without unreasonable thickness). I do have ONE plastic toolbox, that's for some delicate tools (digital multimeter, infrared thermogun, pressure gauges, VERNIER caliper, stopwatch etc etc).
