Stag City - Mid winter in the Ruahines
Спорт
4 days chasing deer in the middle of winter, we see over 10 stags. Join us on our trip and see how it all unfolds- how many can we shoot?
Also a big thanks to all the viewers and subscribers as we pass 1000 subs!
Thanks to DOC for their network of huts and issuing our Drone permit to fly.
Hope you enjoy the clip guys!

I lived and hunted for 27 years in the S.I. and only ever went to the N.I. for one winter of possum hunting in the Kaweka Range, and shot a few sika while there. I am impressed by this video which shows how rugged and similar the Ruahines are to the S. I. alpine. The beech forest, the whole lot, is so similar to S.I. terrain, which I grew up in during the 1960s, worked for NZ Forest Service in the Westland alpine, hunted it until the mid-1980s, and still tramp plenty in it. I have five grandkids now, and it is their heritage and right to have NZ's alpine and free back-country access, hunting, huts, and other resources to enjoy as my generation did. Thanks for sharing this great video.

Hey Gregory Thanks so much for your input! Yes we have a great country for sure! Glad to hear you still get into the back country. I admire the cullers who explored the hills of NZ and made the huts that are now much appreciated by all - well done I hope I bump into you in the hills some day mate!
Well done, always a great video you produce. Old Toby is a dagg. Nice shot too. Thanks and see you next year. Pop

Your welcome!
Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures! It’s a great place to be coming from (doing it for the love, without pressure) I enjoy seeing the “transition” from ocean to bush, although they really are one I. The same as in both environments your always learning about the nature and the self and hunting is instinctual 🙌❤️🤙

You cracked it with the weather. I went over the same weekend as you the previous year and only saw a couple in the bush. Awesome video.

Awesome work team & great camera / video work too. Surprised y’all didn’t take more from that 8pt stag though? Was cold in winter, meat would’ve lasted and there was three of you?
✌🏼🥰
Is that a full Labrador? If so it’s the best looking and well put together lab I have ever seen, I thought my black lab was a unit until I seen this one, superb content guys 👍

Ha Yeah Eden was told it was lab but we think it has something else as his ears are a bit like a boxer or something. Glad you like the content!
Loving the footage Kane, Me and my partner met ya up the very top end of Stoney creek about 8 plus years ago. You where in there with ya camera gear also looking for ya rifle bolt you had lost and later that day I came across another bloke that had found it and I sent him in your direction to return (dive shop in Clive) Have you got any footage from that area?
@thegrundinis4199
Жыл бұрын
Hey Kiwibattler yes that is going back! Got my bolt to thanks. I have a bit of footage but those Sika are bloody cunning- hard to film and shoot at the same time aye!
That’s a big effort! Isn’t that leatherwood a pain?

Yeah great walk about thanks. Yep the leatherwood is great character building aye.
does the farmer not mind you taking dogs through the access point?

Hey Ryan I think my Wapiti XP would be the best all rounder if its not to hot. Very warm and dry with loads of big pockets for all my camera bits Ha!

As hunters we all have to do our part otherwise DOC will 1080 and cull them out - the animal was still respected by us.

I agree 1 pair of hind legs to carry out between 3 guys. Carry the meat before the heads.

@@alihunter2323 You could come back for the heads. Taking a animal for just some fillets and a head isn't respect.
