Hi Jayda aside from my original comment ⬇️ I have a couple questions.😁 Is there any harm in turning each round? I know it’ll work for this square but will it present any problems for future months? Also could I go ahead & put a SC border around it now for ease of sewing them together at the end? I’m going to be learning a lot about my tension this year. My 1st square is 7 inches with a 6mm hook. Loving it! Thanks in advance 🤗

The ad that is running now for me is nearly 20 minutes, and I feel the product being sold is a scam. I know creators have no control over the ads. I watch about 40 seconds. I hear 30 seconds is enough for the creator to receive ad revenue.

@@karenh2890 I've also been told 30s from multiple creators so that is also my go to. Luckily it was two 15s ads before the video played. I also try to let the after ads play through as I can just mute the tab and open the next.

You taught me how to crochet and I have purchased patterns but due to a few personal traumatic losses in 2023, I have many WIPs including my unfinished Folk art blanket so I feel I could hit the restart and get some self care benefit from starting over and this Granny square project with a slight twist would be great. Hi Cynthia! Never feel bad about not finishing a project, I unravel unfinished WIPs for use in other projects all the time. It can feel quite cathartic!

I'm noticing a trend with granny square CALs this year!! I love them and love how fast/simple they will be to only do a few each month to build a big blanket at the end. Thank you as always Jada!

That intro is the best ever🎉, gonna have to watch it a few more times as there is so much going on. Love the square as well and definitely going to have a go at this years blanket.😊

Love this! My husband picked beige, green and gray as the alternating colors and I just adjusted by doing a standing dc instead of a ch3. Fantastic video as always! Thanks!

@@charlenegallagher831 This was my first time doing it. I'm still learning a lot of crochet tricks. I've only been doing it a little over a year. But I've watched A LOT of youtube videos in that year. I came across some comments under one about the standing dc instead of them a while back. I remembered it when I started this last night. I can still see a slight difference where they are, but it's much less noticeable overall than the chains.

@@charlenegallagher831 It was more like a re-learning hah. I was taught by my grandmother when I was very little and I never stuck with it. I was taught again as an adult by my ex SIL- again didn't stick. This time, I sought it out as something to relax with. I'm proud of myself for sticking with it this time. ADHD is strong in this one. My therapist recommended finding something like it to make my brain get a break.

I'm so excited, Granny squares are my favorite!!! I've never been brave enough to branch out from the traditional granny til today though, so THANK YOU!

I learned to crochet by your first granny square tutorial. I had tried for YEARS to crochet. Tension in the chain was my problem. So I buckled down one day and did it over and over again until I had it right. Then that's where your granny square tutorial came in. So I thank you so much for that!!

I saw a pic where someone got a peg board and dowels. They put the dowels in to the board at the right intervals. Then just slid the squares onto the dowels/pegs. They just stacked them up. It was really cool.

It’s called a Wool Needle.. I bought 2 sets off Amazon recently 3 different sizes in each ok. About $8.99. Well worth it. So easy to hide tails now!!!

Hi Jayda! I'm using some cotton I've had in my statsh for my squares. I've been wanting to make a cotton blanket and I think this is going to be perfect. I’m a big fan of variegated wool, so I’m thinking alternating a variegated square with a plain colour from the variegated etc.depending on how many colours are in the variation, usually 4 (or more), one could make a 5x5 square blanket.

I'm planning to make this year's blanket with you. 1 block down. Thank you for sharing.

I too thought you would venture into the world of mosaic, but it seems you are a granny square girl at heart. ❤️❤️ I may make a sweater/cardigan as well. You gave such great instructions on the Boo-Bee Cardi in the fall it really inspired me to move in that direction.

So I just watched the first of the 2024 calendar blanket videos and I’m so excited. I have been healing from tenosynovitis in my left wrist since early October and have only been able to crochet for about 1 week now. As I’m watching the 2024 video on my TV, I’m also watching the October 2023 calendar blanket video on my phone and crocheting along with that one so I can finish it before starting the 2024 blanket. So glad I can do this. I was so worried my hand and wrist would not heal enough to ever crochet again. Thank you Jayda for always brightening my day and being an encouragement. Ughhhhhh the excitement is unreal 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄 Granny squares are my absolute favorite things to make Mrs. Jayda you taught me to crochet during a sad time in my life and it’s been amazing ever since, however I put crocheting down for 7 months from depression, but now I’m back! I still have the folk art blanket sky portion to finish 😅😅 But recently I found a pattern to make little crochet Nun dolls in full habit, and send them to different convents here in Georgia and all across the states (US). I have always thought of the Chain-1 as a "traveling stitch." From time to time in Granny Squares, we have to travel across an area on the row below where we didn't put into stitches. So, that Chain-1 helps us to travel across that area and still keep the Granny Square flat. Just helped me think about what I am doing and why.
